"I'm sure I'll be able to reach the Divine Realm in a hundred years. Then I'll get the inheritances," I said with resolution.
"It's impossible," he said shaking his head, "The laws of heaven and earth here are too incomplete. The dao is too weak and too little for any hope."
"Can't I just devour?" I asked.
"There's only so much you can accomplish with devour. Although you somehow reached the xiantian realm, you'll only reach Saint Immortal no matter how far you devour and cultivate. Even if you devour others blood essence and soul, it won't do much. You don't even have a cultivation technique and yet you blindly circulate Qi. It's a miracle you have devour or you would've gone insane or destroyed yourself," he said.
"Then how should I escape from the Immortal Realm then?" I asked anxiously. Dying like this isn't the way I wanna go. I still have my ambitions even if I'm somewhat lazy.
"With my powers, it's pretty easily to leave the Immortal Realm. In fact, I could leave anytime I wanted to. If it wasn't for my masters order, then it be easy as breathing," he said with his chest puffed up.
"R-really. You'll help me?" I asked with a little excitement.
"Of course. But that doesn't mean I'll do it for free. Although you are the chosen one, it doesn't mean you qualify to use me. You'll have to go through my trials," he said as he started laughing. I knew this wasn't going to be easy.
"I'll do the trials, but I want to stay in the Immortal Realm to the last second," I said.
"Eh? Why? Are you that interested in seeing what a black hole looks like?" he curiously asked.
"Well, part of it. I promised this woman that I'd help with her revenge. I also wanna what the end of the world looks like," I said.
*sigh*
"Alright, I guess we can stay down here longer. But hopefully you can pass the trial. Me and master worked on this together so that even if the chosen one comes, there'll be a small chance of succeeding. I also can't leave this world until you complete the trial so win so I don't die."
With a wave of his hand, a grand aura filled the area and the volcanoes quickly settled to a low state. A golden gate appeared that looked like heaven's door. Space rippled and dao laws flowed endlessly. I couldn't help but feel like I was gaining insights as my cultivation and foundation deepened.
The golden gate opened up and I felt a gentle hand wrap around me. Before I could resist, I was thrown into the gate before entering an entirely new landscape.
This landscape was a battlefield wasteland. Gloomy clouds slowly moved across the skies. Dry and empty lands filled the horizon that had no sign of life. Countless melee weapons were scattered across the landscape. Some were broken and some looked very alive. Deathly energies filled the air and dense killing intent surrounded those weapons. It must be a place where countless ancient expects battled fiercely back then.
Although I've felt my cultivation was high enough, just the killing intent from those weapons were enough to slice me to bits if it wasn't for my scales. My scales made the sound of metal scratching every time a strand hit me.
I slowly looked around the area before carefully retreating towards a more open area. Evading them, I finally got into an open area devoid of killing intent before calming myself down.
Before I could, I felt danger and dodged. A brownish arm, skinny enough that bones were visible, tried to grab me but missed. But space seemingly shattered after closing it's hand. Another arm came out of the ground before a corpse human crawled out like a zombie. It's body was dried up and skinny enough that bones could be seen on it's surface. Extreme energies surrounded the body which I assume is yin making it an extreme yin human corpse.
I cautiously put up my guard. For it to be giving me danger signals means this corpse is very strong. Somewhere along the lines of saint or divine level. I couldn't help but wonder if this was a war place in the ancient Immortal Realm.
The corpse stood up and it's dried up eyes looked at me hungrily. I took the initiative to attack. My hand turned into sharp claws that even cut space apart. But my face changed, as my claws only produced sparks against the corpses skin. I couldn't help but retreat and exclaim. What a tough corpse! Although I had seen them in novels, I didn't think their skin would be this tough.
The corpse zombie roared and leaped into the air at me. I dodged and it's impact destroy the ground for hundreds of meters. The corpse leaped out and leaped at me like a lion. I dodged a fist and threw a punch towards it stomach with all my strength. The corpse was sent flying but mostly unscathed to my surprise.
The yin corpse quickly got up and leaped over again. This time I took no chances and surrounded the corpse in dense devour energies. The energies from the corpse seemed to be quickly sucked away but it seemed as though it wasn't affected. Leaping once again, it tried to tear me to pieces.
I continuously dodged but the attacks were a close shave. I was more on the defensive side than the offensive. After an hour of battling, the corpses strength began to wane and the energies around it seemed feeble.
Finally, the yin corpse fell to the ground before disintegrating slowly into dust. It's roars turned quiet before the only thing left was a black bead that was where the dantian used to be.
