The already heavy feeling in the room got even more stifling after Su Lin confirmed the news. Father Su slowly closed his eyes and took a few deep breathes. Mother Su just sat there with a blank face, as if she couldn't rap her head around what just happened. Both Su Mian and Su Shu were no where to be seen.
Su Lin sighed and turned to face away from his parents. He wasn't at all surprised at their reactions to this news. Openly gay people were still new to this city so most people still had conflicting views on this issue.
After a few minutes of silence, Mother Shu snapped out of her thoughts and slowly stood up. She walked over to Su Lin and wrapped her arms around his body. She pulled his head down to her bosom and lightly kissed his forehead.
Su Lin just stood in her arms, shocked because he was expecting a totally different response.
"Lin'er, it doesn't matter what the newspapers say." Mother Su whispered softly as she stroked his long hair. "You're still our son."
"Mother~"
Whatever he was about to say was stopped by another pair of arms hugging him from the back. From his peripheral vision, Su Lin could see that the pair of arms belonged to his father. Father Su didn't need to say anything. Su Lin already knew he was on his side.
They hugged for a while before they released each other. Mother and Father SU went back to the table. When they sat down, they both took on a dark look. Mother Su banged her fists on the table in anger, which surprised Su Lin because it went against her soft nature.
"It's obvious that whoever did this had evil intentions towards Lin'er," She hissed. "Even if someone got a hold of the photo, no one is dumb enough to offend the Su Family because of it."
Father Su nodded his head in agreement, he turned to Su Lin who was still standing stock still in surprise from his mothers outburst.
"Lin'er, tell me all the names of people you have had complications with," he ordered.
Su Lin complied and listed of all the names of people he had problems with. The list wasn't that long since he's been out of public eye for the majority of his time.
"I know the people you have listed off wouldn't dare do anything to anger us," he frowned.
Su Lin hesitated for a moment before he asked, "Father, may I ask you a question in private?"
Father Su nodded his head. He stood up and led him to his office. They went in and got comfortable before Su Lin started.
"Father, do you have a brother?" Su Lin asked slowly.
Father Su sat up straight and stared at Su Lin in shock. He couldn't fathom how Su Lin knew about that.
"How~"
"How I know is not what's important right now," Su Lin cut him off.
Father Su sighed and slumped down in his seat. "Yes, I have a brother. An older twin brother to be exact," he clarified.
"Then how did you inherit the company?" Su Lin asked curiously. Usually, the oldest child was the one to inherit in influential families, so Su Lin was confused as to why his father, a second born child, was able to take everything.
Father Su sighed and started the story, "My mother birthed my brother and I with a C-Section. She was very weak after that and the doctors confirmed that she wouldn't be able to carry anymore babies in the future. That left my brother and I as the only children of the Su Family. As we grew up, people started to recognize my abilities and wanted me to be the heir apparent instead of my brother. Of course, this drove him crazy with anger and jealousy which drove him to plot my murder. His own blood brother. My father found out before he carried out his plan and disowned him on the spot. He was kicked out and I haven't heard from him since after you were born." He concluded his story.
"Identical," Si Lin murmured to himself in thought.
Su Lin observed his father. Father Su averted his eyes with a guilty look which let Su Lin know that there was more to the story than he was letting on.
"Father, did he perhaps have a son?" Su Lin asked.
Father Su furrowed his brows and replied, "I think there was something about having a son and few months after you were born."
Su Lin lowered his head to hide his sly smile. He raised it up again and stared intensely at his father which made Father Su feel slightly nervous.
"Father, you're hiding something else from me," Su Lin said donning a serious posture and face.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Father Su said looking away from Su Lin so he wouldn't see his expression.
"Father, I need to know," Su Lin said with a deep voice.
Father Su sighed again and sat up straight.
"Fine, I will tell you but you must not tell anyone." He said.
Su Lin nodded his head and waited for him to continue.
"You remember what I told you about the Li Family right, well my company found out that a previous transaction had my brothers name written on it. This means that he has some sort of relationship with the Li Family. I just don't know what." He said.
Su Lin nodded his head and dropped a bomb on his father. "Father, do you know what happened to that maid that tricked you into doing the deed?" he asked.
The atmosphere in the room dropped to freezing temperatures after Su Lin asked that.
"Why do you ask," Father Su said with narrowed eyes.
"Well, considering your personality, you surely wouldn't have left that woman alive," SU Lin smirked.
"You're too smart for your own good," Father Su shook his head in defeat. "Yes, I did send some people to...take care of her. I thought I did at least," he said quietly.
"Father have you considered~"
"Yes, I took that into account but I can't confirm it," He said. "Enough of this conversation, we need to go to the company," he said as he stood up.
Su Lin made his way to the door before he stopped again, he turned back to his father and asked, "Are you not going to ask me about who the other man on the photo is?"
Father Su shook his head, " I know that you will tell me when you're ready."
A light smile formed on the side of Su Lin's lips. He then walked out of the room to his car.
