Looking down at Carl, just as he was about to speak Salvatore suddenly heard the sultry feminine voice of the system as a window appeared before him.
"DING!"
[System Notification: You Have Received A New Quest!]
Quest: Help Carl Get Home!
Difficulty: E
Description: Help Carl who is lost get home.
Requirements: Get Carl Home. Carl must survive the journey.
Reward: 5 Experience.
Seeing the screen that suddenly appeared the words of denial he was about to speak halted on the tip of Salvatore's tongue as his eyes shone with excitement upon reading the contents of the window.
After all, this was his first quest and although the reward was a pitiful amount of a meager 5 experience points, after recalling the minute amount he had earned from killing monsters in the Valley this was actually quite a large amount for such a simplistic quest with such a low difficulty.
Having paused to examine the window Salvatore once more focused on Carl who was staring up at him with a cute, forlorned, doe-eyed expression with his ears smoothed back, and the longer you stared at him the larger and more pitiful his eyes seem to be.
"All right Carl, I'll help you get home." Salvatore replied, flashing Carl a large warm smile.
Immediately Carl face lit up with happiness as he leaped into the air shouting "FUCK YEAH" while making a fist pump with his right arm before landing on the ground assuming a victory pose.
Somewhat amused by Carl's response, Salvatore shook his head slightly wearing a grin before asking, "So Carl, were exactly is your home located?"
Showing a bemused expression on his face in response to Salvatore's question, Carl's furry forehead cutely scrunched up as he began to think aloud. "I'm not exactly sure, I remember my papa once telling me that the Rabbit Kingdom was located in a super special, super secret place protected by the magic of the Valleys forest, and that it was the only place we rabbit monsters were truly safe, so I was never to leave the Rabbit Kingdom without his express permission."
"You can't be serious, there's actually a "Rabbit Kingdom"!" Salvatore asked incredulously.
Thrusting out his chest, Carl assumed a proud stance as he smugly replied "Of course! The Rabbit Kingdom is the paradise for we magnificent rabbit monsters."
"So you mean you rabbit monsters never leave this so-called "Rabbit Kingdom"?"
"Nope, never, the Valley is far too dangerous."
"Then why have I seen so many Red Berry Rabbits in the Valley?"
"Hmph, those dregs are not worthy of even knowing of the Rabbit Kingdom. Once every two years a competition is held that test all of the citizen of the Rabbit Kingdom to determine who are the strongest, bravest, most beautiful, most magnificent of Rabbitkind. The winners are allowed to stay while the rest are cast out into the dangerous Valley. This allows each new generation of rabbits to be better than the last, as well as serve as a sort of population control, for although the Rabbit Kingdom is a true rabbit paradise there is a finite amount of space."
"Wait, so if these competitions are held every two years than why haven't you been kicked out before, I mean no offense Carl but although your are handsome and rather magnificent I don't know if I would call you the strongest of rabbit monsters."
Subconsciously raising an eyebrow as a blatant display of aggravation, the gleam of barely repressed exasperation shined intensely within his big soulful eyes, transparently disclosing the internal struggled that Carl underwent to suppress his normal reaction to any comment which attempted to disprove the fact that he stood at the peak of rabbitkind.
Suddenly realizing that his eyebrow was raised in a annoyed cocky manner he quickly reached up with both his paws using both of them to forcefully straighten the raised eyebrow, causing him to begin breathing heavily from physically overexerting himself. After several deep breaths he managed to regain his strength and replied in a flat, seemingly calm even tone.
"Big bro, despite my enviable youthful appearance which I am fully aware exudes such a mesmerizing radiance that you are unable to perceive the other transcendent quality's I possess, I am in fact one of the strongest of rabbitkind, in fact, I have won many a fight sparing with several of the palace's strongest guards."
"Furthermore, those of noble rabbitkind lineage are above the common masses and are excluded from the competition. Although such an action may seem bias there is in fact a completely legitimate reason for this exception. Despite the special privileges we nobles possess, there are far too few of us for we number less than a few hundred and are cursed with and incredibly low reproductive rate despite are intense, unending effort in comparison to the commoners."
"While most of the ordinary rabbit monsters are able to rather easily have multiple litters yearly, we special few, who are of a noble lineage, birth less than one child every few years. Even worse, I, of the most noble of the noble lineages, the royal lineage, have a fertility rate so low that the chances of impregnation are almost astronomical. However, despite this limitation, even the weakest of noble lineage is stronger, smarter, handsomer, and all around superior to the greatest of the commoners."
