Chapter 50 - Retracing Steps

Somewhat thirsty, he ate a few berries in order to satisfy his craving for water. This was a makeshift solution for although he had run quite a distance throughout the Valleys forest he had failed to located a single source of water.

As for the memories he had acquired from the monsters it seemed that neither the Watermelon Wolves nor the Red Berry Rabbits required water.

For the wolves the meat and blood of the many monsters that surrounded their territory sufficed to sustain them, as for the rabbits they were herbivores and fed off the many fruits that fell to the forest ground as well as the many plentiful berries bush.

Salvatore however was a human, and unlike the many monsters that inhabited the Valley he required a source of water, so besides getting out of the Valley his number one concern was locating a source of clean water.

Fortunately he knew there must be water somewhere in the Valley based on the amount of green. For now he would just have to survive on the juice contained within berries and other wild fruits.

Completely warmed up and refreshed after finishing his morning workout, he was filled with boundless zeal to explore the entire Valley, (whilst also planning to wreak a terrible vengeance upon the various monster inhabitants, especially any Red Berry Rabbits or Watermelon Wolves he could find) as he ventured once more into the woods, shooting off silently as he merged with the forest like a predator, becoming one with nature, for with his renewed strength he was once more the hunter and no longer the prey.

Despite running silently he lost nothing in speed as he raced through the trees at a thousand times the speed he had the day before, each step he took covering hundreds of feet.

Now he could easily run 100 mph which although might seem amazing was not nearly as much as when he was at his peak. A few days ago he could easily run 500 mph and maintain that speed for 3 day nonstop before having to stop to rest.

Retracing his footsteps from yesterday in a matter of seconds he traversed the over 1.5 miles to arrived at the site of the battle.

Stopping only to make a cursory check of the area, he soon continued onward delving deeper into the woods as he began to hunt for new, unknown monsters and most importantly, water.

Every few seconds he would lightly sniff the air, for after raising his Perception stat all of his senses had been greatly enhanced, his sense of smell especially was now so strong that after sniffing the air if he fully concentrated on what he smelled he could actually vaguely perceive the various mist-like scents lingering in the air all around him for a few seconds before they faded from view.
