Some time passed and Ivy's sudden depression disappeared as fast as it came and she was back to her normal self, or at least what was considered normal for her…
Having already killed off the giant worm, people slowly started to leave and resume to hunting monsters in the desert after resting for a bit. Ivy also started pestering Hagan about their duel, to which he agreed to in the end.
Both Ivy and Hagan had rested and even though they were not in perfect condition, they could fight with full power without much of a problem.
Standing in front of each other with a few meters distance, Ivy and Hagan was about to start their duel.
The mages and warriors who had started leaving earlier also came back when they saw Ivy and Hagan was going to have a duel.
Ivy was a strong close combat mage, while Hagan was a strong warrior guardian with impenetrable defense. Both were strong and watching a fight between a strong mage and warrior would most definitely be entertaining.
With that in mind, People slowly took some distance and prepared to watch the fight that was going to unfold.
"So, how should we decided who wins? First hit?"
Hagan asked as he looked towards Ivy standing in front of him.
"Yeah, we will go with first hit. Remember the hit needs to breach the others defense first!"
Ivy said with a serious tone in her voice as she took on a serious stand. Hagan laughed slightly as he readied himself.
"Well then, let's begin."
Saying so, Hagan charged towards Ivy.
Ivy did not just stand still and watch Hagan charging at her, she quickly threw a few fire javelins towards Hagan as he closed in, but he dodged most of them and blocked the rest with his shield, as he closed in on her.
Ivy stopped throwing fire javelins after him and readied herself. Already having her leather gauntlets on, Ivy was more than ready to clash with Hagan in close combat and even though she only had a pair of leather gauntlets on, powered with magic power and their identity as a magic weapon/armor, they should be able to block a magic sword.
*Shiing*
Unsheathing his sword, Hagan slashed at Ivy.
*boom*
As the sword closed in on her, Ivy quickly made the ground bellow her feet explode and used the force from the explosion to dodge the sword attack and hit Hagan with some of the force from the explosion, trying to make his footing unstable as well.
*whoosh*
Quickly stabilizing herself a bit away from Hagan, Ivy soon charged towards the small dust cloud formed from the explosion and nearby sand.
*swish*
Just as Ivy was about to charge into the dust cloud to attack Hagan, a sword made entirely of yellow colored mana came towards her from the inside. Barley managing to dodge the sword coming out of the dust cloud Ivy took some distance and waited for it to clear up.
Unsurprisingly a weak light soon shined through, as the dust cleared away, Hagan was standing perfectly fine close to the middle of the small dust cloud, with a weak yellow light covering his entire body.
"So, you can use earth magic as well? That is indeed quite a surprise…"
Ivy said as a surprised expression streaked past her eyes, but other than the surprise present, a bit of curiosity was also present.
"HAHA, I managed to get earth magic after entering this desert, but only after fighting the giant worm did I learn to use it to attack. Sadly it is still weaker than my other skills… for now at least!"
With a proud smile on his face, Hagan started bragging about his new ability making quite a few of people present roll their eyes while looking at him.
"Well, if that is so, then let's start the real fight!"
Saying so, Ivy covered herself in fire and used a small explosion below her feet to propel herself towards Hagan.
Hagan saw Ivy coming towards him and raised his shield in front of himself.
"BULWARK"
After shouting, a clear light covered his entire body. The light slowly concentrated onto his shield. The bulwark was a guardian skill that allowed the guardian to increase their defensive ability in exchange for slower movement.
Standing in place, Hagan waited for Ivy to clash head-on with him and soon enough Ivy gathered mana in one of her fists, concentrating a small fire around her fist while making it stronger and stronger.
*BOOOOOM*
The fire fist of Ivy soon clashed with Hagan. The result was a giant explosion, followed by a heat wave that soon hit the audience.
Hagan, who received the blow head on also, stepped back a few meters as he looked towards Ivy in shock. The hit from earlier was no joke, it broke through most of Hagans defenses, if he had not used bulwark earlier…
Thinking this Hagan felt a slight chill, if Ivy had used this attack on the giant worm from the start and had not let herself become exhausted; she could most likely have killed it off with only 1 or 2 attacks…
"Hah hah hah"
Breathing in and out, Ivy looked at the shocked look in Hagans eyes. Using such a strong attack was exhausting, even for Ivy.
*Whoosh*
Before Hagan managed to recover from the earlier attack, Ivy attacked head-on once again, using the same attack as before.
Seeing the same attack coming towards him once again, Hagan was a little scared of the concentrated fire fist attack from Ivy. The last attack destroyed most of his defenses and even broke through his bulwark, so even if he looked fine on the outside, he was in a bad condition.
Defending against one more attack like the one from before, would most likely make him forcefully take it on and damage himself in the process.
"STOP! I GIVE UP!"
A high-pitched girly scream soon echoed through the surrounding, Ivy who heard it stopped her attack with a shocked and amused expression on her face.
Her attack stopped a few centimeters from Hagans face making him break out in a cold sweat. Luckily, for him, it was a duel and not a fight to the death.
"You win little girl… Hehe, I really didn't expect you to be that strong… Well this is after all only a duel, so let's stop here."
Saying so, Hagan tried to look as mighty and manly as before, but his earlier high-pitched girly scream had already shattered his earlier mighty and manly impression…
