Chapter 2 - Let's Hope For The Best

"Why aren't any of you talking? I suppose there should be some questions you are dying to ask for?" I asked them nicely, well to me the way I asked them is as nice as your friendly neighborhood Dodoro. And to answer my question they gazed at the floor. Really. It seems that the previous owner of this body is either someone really strict, disciplined, and easy to anger or someone so bad at managing his County that he needed so many advisors to help him. I mean who in their right mind have an advisor for night baths, not me of course.

Anyway, enough ranting about how bad my predecessor is and let us return to the story, I mean diary.

"Alright, everyone please leave the room, gramps you may stay." I asked them to leave, because I actually took back what I said, I will not take any of them as my personal advisor, I mean just look at some of them, they might've some problems.

"Let me see those advisors' background information gramps." He gave me their dossier and wow, I can't even keep my fabulous face straight anymore. I will read the first paragraph from one of the tamest of the bunch to you.

Name : Nodrog Yesmar, Advisor of Conduct

The rich second-generation of an influential merchant family, manages most of the County's red light district, was involved in some shady business of slavery, once in a while reports of missing people came in, all of them was women. It was highly suspected that Nodrog smuggled them out to surrounding Counties.

THAT is the first paragraph of the guy's dossier, I can't look beyond that as it's too gruesome, there's something about attachments to donkeys and whatnot.

"Gramps, as of today, I am officially advisor-less. Now let me see how the County's doing."

The County I ruled is about 1089 sq mi with 60% land and 40% water, of the land 20% was used as farms, 20% empty, 10% for market (trading area), 30% is the district for 3rd class citizens (farmers, workers, etc.), 15% is the district for 2nd class citizens (merchants, traders, etc.), and lastly 5% is the district for the 1st class citizens (basically wealthy and powerful peoples). In periphery of the water area there's a small port and harbor, while most the water areas were unused, traders and merchants from the surrounding areas flock to my County because its part of the trade route.

"Gramps, write this down and help me with it. First, I want to enlarge the trade area by using the unused land, after that put some of our men in them to buy from the merchants coming into town, then sell some of it to another merchant that have different items, and buy their items. Then, I want to enlarge the port and harbor so that more ships could dock, make it good looking, give them free entry and charge every item they are going to sell, approximately 1% of their total profit with that item, use the County's money to do those things, and spare no gold to achieve what I want. Did you get all that gramps?"

"Yes, my Lord." He bowed. Good thing I have my so called butler, although he's already old (maybe he's a contracted demon in disguise, or a former vampire hunter, am I a bat?), his competence is the same as every Sebastian, Walter, and Alfred out there. Although at first I am depressed after transmigrating, knowing that I have no helper, system, old grandpa, and stuff. Now I am suspecting that this butler of mine is here, because the heavens are pitying me, or maybe my ancestor did some dark shady ritual? I don't know, maybe I will know some day but not today, because the bells are ringing. Let's hope for the best in today's trial.
