Chapter 127 - Guild Issues and the Phoenix Egg

[There are four days left before the destruction of the next city]

The message was sent a few hours before.

The party had completed the quest the previous day but took no action to prevent the penalty. The penalty would happen in a few days time if they don't find a way to prevent it.

The game made the storyline multiple quests long.

"We need to speed up the process of completing these quest," Emile said in the party chat.

"Haste makes waste," Scarlet Sunset said. The party had received the announcement as well since Emile shared the quest with them.

"We have no leads or clues about the light," Flower Queen said.

Emile began thinking.

"Remember how the video showed where the light came from," Emile said, " we could use the video to follow the direction of the light."

Emile thought he broke into new grounds.

"Someone already tried that yesterday. They continued walking in the same direction and couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. They walked for an entire day without discovering a suspicious thing," Time Walker replied.

"Do we just sit around and do nothing," Emile said.

"We could work on the guild features," Scarlet Sunset said.

"If you have any old types of equipment that are at least Rare rank then add it to the treasury." Flower Queen asked the party. They needed a lure to keep the players in the guild.

The needed items to be in the treasury since other players could borrow those items.

"First off we need a currency used for only guild related items," Scarlet Sunset said.

A lot of back and forth occurred between the party.

Emile felt confused by the sheer number of new terms introduced by them. Treasury, Guild Currency, etc.

In simple terms, they created guild points to give to players when the player completes tasks for the guild. These tasks could be recruiting a friend or completing Guild Quest.

They didn't have many ways of giving out guild points at the beginning stages of the guild.

These guild points could be used to exchange with items in the treasury. Players could outright buy the item and own it forever or borrow the item for a few days.

There were methods set for the item to teleport back into the treasury after the time limit was up. They added this so that players wouldn't run off with the item.

The day passed as they worked on different guild issues.

Guild Quests were being added by players and NPC's. An NPC could put up a quest and the people could complete them to get different rewards. The quests would always yield a certain amount of guild points.

The guild would benefit if the player completed a quest since they would get a small portion of the rewards. It was a win-win situation. Guild benefited, player benefitted and the NPC's benefitted.

The guild's fame from the world announcement and Emile's fame from being a Pioneer allowed multiple people to come in and request help. These help request became quests for the players.

There were only three rare items in the treasury which the guildmates could see. Scarlet Sunset tinkered with the settings and added guild points into the menu. She put a price for the rare items that lay in the treasury. Players could purchase these items with guild points.

That's enough information for one day. Fast Forward a few hours.

"What do we do when the NPC isn't willing to give the reward that a player deserves for completing the quest," Emile said as he saw one report from the users. A player reported an NPC for not giving them the rewards.

"Ask the adventure guild," Scarlet Sunset said. The guild management stressed her out since there were lots of problems occurring throughout the guild.

Emile asked Stella about this by messaging her.

"We take the reward first, before assigning the quest," Stella said.

"That's it?" Emile asked.

"Yep," Stella said.

Emile implemented this rule for the NPC's. They must give the rewards to the Guild for safekeeping. If they ever wish to remove the quest, then they could take the items back.

The mayor messaged Emile while he was handling different issues.

"There's new information and I need your help again," the mayor said.

"What is it?" Emile asked.

"We tracked the light down to an abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere," the mayor said.

"That's good! We can go to the warehouse and destroy the machine," Emile said with excitement.

"See, that's the problem, you can't go there without protection," the mayor said.

"Why?" Emile asked.

"They abandoned the warehouse due to high levels of radiation. The radiation is so toxic that you would die in less than a minute. You'll need resistance against the poison," the mayor said.

"Where can I get these resistances?" Emile asked.

"There are lots of ways to get these resistances. You could create a barrier with a different element, get equipment, or find potions that increase poison resistance," the mayor said.

[Quest: Poison Resisitivity]

[Objective: Defend yourself against the poison]

[Difficulty: B]

[Comment: Hmm... that egg in your inventory could help when its hatched]

[Progress: Nothing]

[Time Limit: 3 days 16 hours 42 minutes 18 seconds]

[Penalty: Another City Destroyed]

[Reward: Access to the Abandoned Warehouse]

"All right, do you have any of the items you mentioned," Emile asked.

"No, if I did you would have gotten the items," the mayor said.

Emile noticed that the comment gave some helpful. It was rare for the quest comment to give him advice. There was only one egg in Emile's inventory.

It was the Phoenix Egg. He couldn't hatch the egg since he couldn't find many objects related to ice or snow. Emile needed to find the ice-related objects soon or else they would destroy another city with the machine.

Emile created a Guild Quest.

The quest was simple. The players from the guild would give Emile the ice-related objects and he would reward them with guild points.

It was one of the few things he could give the players. He didn't have extra equipment for level 10 since he had them equipped on himself.

After Emile created the quest, he asked his party to give him items with ice properties.

Nimble Rod had some items from his adventures at Snow Thorn Village. He traveled there multiple times after the Phoenix battle to learn more about ice and interact with it.

After a bit of research, Emile found a city where it would snow all year round. This would be the best location to hatch the egg.

Emile appeared in the city. A snowflake landed on his shoulders before melting. The fire element burned inside of him, generating heat which caused the surroundings to melt at a visible rate.

Emile walked out of the teleporter and took the Phoenix egg out of his inventory. He held the item in front of him. The snow couldn't make the Phoenix egg react. Emile took out a few of the ice-related objects that he stored in his inventory and surrounded the egg.

It shook a few times and made small sounds. Emile thought that it was hatching, but he turned out to be wrong.

It stopped shaking after the third wiggle. He needed more materials to hatch the egg. Emile spent time in the snow and waited for people to contact him with the items.

Emile felt as if he could forget the world. It was a relaxing and peaceful moment for him. These sweet moments allowed him to continue forward in the endless struggle of fighting and growing stronger.

Players were messaging him with items related to ice or the cold. Emile gave them points depending on the item.

Emile took these items from the players by trading with them. He had the power to give guild points to as many players as needed.

Emile gave the people five guild points at minimum or ten guild points at maximum. They could use 50 guild points to purchase one of the rare ranked items.

Emile accepted a few items from the people. He judged them solely based on the name of the item. After he received eight items, he tried hatching the egg once more.

He sat down in the middle of the street and placed the egg in front of him. The pavement that would be cold to the bone to a normal person felt warm to Emile. Moments like these made him appreciate the enormous amount of luck he had to be born with dual elements.

Snow fell from the cloudy skies as people wearing coats walked by him and the egg. He took out each object related to the cold, one by one, and surrounded the egg with them. He placed the items near the egg to give it the highest chance for it to hatch.

Now, all he needed to do was wait for the egg to hatch or to see it fail once more.
