Emile didn't know what else he could do in the Alchemist Headquarters. Alchemist was one profession he could take up. Alchemy could create health and mana potions. It could also increase the user stats with certain potions.
Emile realized that all the profession he had seen thus far could increase the stats of the user when they reached a certain rank. Getting a subclass would be one requirement if a player wanted to be strong.
Emile didn't know how to leave the headquarters. He could use the entrance, but he didn't know how to open the wall.
Emile used this opportunity to ask the crowd if they had any Silver Roots.
"Um... everyone," Emile shouted 'everyone' in the highest decibel his voice could muster.
This got their attention. They turned to look at him and waited.
Emile's hand shook for a few moments. The shaking stopped.
"Do you guys have any Silver Roots that I could purchase? Step forward if you have a root and will sell it to me," Emile shouted once again. He didn't have to yell with his entire voice since the room had become quieter than before.
No one stepped up. Either they had a root and weren't willing to sell it or that they didn't have one.
"Thank you for your help and silence," Emile said after waiting for a few moments.
"Does anyone know how to exit this place. I'm new here so I don't know how to leave," Emile yelled out again.
They commended his courage to speak to a crowd. The first question that Emile asked was a good reason to get their attention. The second was a joke in their eyes.
"I can help you," someone walked forward towards Emile.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Ben," the man said as he took his hand out for a handshake.
"Thanks, I'm Emile," Emile said as he grasped Ben's hand and gave him a firm handshake.
"You don't have to do that," The old man who's a rank 6 chef walked out of the crowd.
"Nice to meet you Sir Nolan," Ben said.
"I'll take him out of this place." The old man said.
"All right," Ben said before walking away from them.
"You left me without even saying anything," Emile said with annoyance.
"Why do I have to tell you where I go," the old man said with more annoyance.
"Give me a warning when you leave. I was counting on you to see if the lady told the truth. I'm new to the alchemy world, so I don't know if she was telling the truth." Emile said.
"The sun would rise from the west before she told a lie," the old man said.
"You trust her a lot," Emile said.
"Everyone in this headquarter trusts her. She's never told a lie in her entire life. There's a way to measure if a sentence that a person states are true or false. It has an accuracy of 100%. No one had got away with a lie when using the item. One night when they were having fun while using the item that can detect lies she mentioned how she had never said a lie in her life. The others challenged her to use the item and say those words. She listened. The item didn't react which brought out lots of shocks. I was there when this happened, and I had felt the same amount of shock as everyone else." The old man spoke of a tale.
"Are you sure the item wasn't a dud or if it stopped working?" Emile asked. He understood that never telling a lie was one of the hardest things to do.
Humans are designed to forget things or tweak their memories around. Even if they don't intend to tell a lie they inadvertently do. People tell lies to control a situation or get someone to have certain reactions. Most people lie once or twice every day. (1)
"Nope, the next person told us something we knew was a lie. The man said I'm dead which wasn't true since the man was clearly alive. His lie was caught by the item which showed that she told the truth." The man said.
"Wow," Emile said. He didn't know how else to react. There had to be a reason why she was this honest.
"What if she told a lie after this and she became untrustworthy," Emile asked about a future scenario that could occur.
"We hold those lie events every two weeks. Her saying she never lied is one of the beginning events. We always make her say it to make sure she has kept her record. And she still hasn't said a lie." The man said.
"All right, let's not talk about someone else behind their back. I'll show you the way out," the old man led him out of the headquarters.
He walked passed the people who resumed their conversations. They went to the back of the place which had a staircase that led up. The person who made the staircase made it out of stone. Emile couldn't spot any dust on the staircase which showed that someone kept it clean.
The top of the staircase was a cellar. The old man opened it and walked out. Emile followed behind him. He tried his best to get the Silver Roots while in the headquarters.
All he could do was wait.
Emile continued to think about ways to find the Silver Root. He thought about asking his friends to look for the herb.
Emile didn't know it required a certain amount of skill to move plants. If he picked it up from the ground, it would die in a day or two. There was a correct way to pick up and harvest the herb.
If his friends found the herb, they would kill it in the process of collecting it.
Emile didn't want his party or his friends to waste their time, so he continued to look for more solutions.
The old man closed the cellar. They couldn't open the cellar from the outside. They couldn't detect the cellar from outside either since it camouflaged with the ground.
"Are you going to continue daydreaming?" The old man said.
"Ah... Which way is Sunrise City?" Emile asked. He wanted to get out of the wild.
They surrounded him with trees. The area they were in was a small area with a brown patch of dirt. This was a common sight in the forest. The only difference between this patch of dirt and all the other patches was that this was the Alchemist Headquarters exit.
"If you head that way you'll see the path and follow a random direction to get back to Sunrise City," The old man said as he walked away. He pointed his hand at a direction.
"Wait, why should I follow a random direction," Emile said.
"You have high luck so you'll choose the correct path." The old man said without slowing down.
"All right, thank you Sir Nolan," Emile shouted before going towards the direction he stated.
'I got it!' Emile thought is his mind as he walked.
'I can ask the mayor to give out a quest.'His thought process satisfied Emile. The mayor had the best network so he would be able to get the Silver Roots without too much of a problem.
