Chapter 149 - The First Expedition (part 2)

Midori slithered through an area of 50 miles from the portal while paying attention to anything that looked out of place, whether that was a corpse or the sounds of fighting nothing could escape her attention.

Ever since she achieved Level 30, her speed in her 1 ft form was beyond compare among the members of the team and she was able to cover 50 miles in just a couple of minutes. The area around the portal was pretty much desolated and only a few of corpses laid on the ground without any clothes on.

Midori was not one to throw Energy away and quickly melted their bodies with her poison before continuing searching the area. Midori moved like she was taking a stroll in the park and it wasn't until she reach the 50 mile mark that she saw the first group of people chasing after a rogue that tried to Ambush a group of third tiers but was unsuccessful.

The group consisted of only three people but their arrangement was known as the Holy Trinity. The term Holy Trinity was widely used amount adventures to represent a group made out of a Healer, a defensive warrior such as a guardian or a paladin and a class that specialized in offense forsaken any sort of defense. The arrangement was known for his efficiency and safety while hunting beast thanks to all the components of the group covering the weaknesses of the others.

The Rogue being pursue was a lot stronger than anyone in the three person group and had tried to kill the healer the moment the team was distracted but it had fail miserably. when he popped up from stealth, the cleric of the group immediately cast a defensive skill mitigating the damage while the Ranger of the group fire a piercing arrow his way that preventing him from attacking further while the paladin charged at him with amazing speed.

The Rogue had no other choice but to retreat and that led to the situation Midori was observing from the side lines and in her opinion it would not be long until the rogue ran out of energy and died.

Sigh…

Midori shook her head while turning away from the area but even before she could start moving an Arrow with the tip glowing in red energy came flying straight to her forehead, it was the Ranger's Explosive Arrow and his biggest mistake.

The arrow hit Midori's forehead and exploded leaving nothing but pieces of skin in the air while blood splashed on the face of the healer that started screaming the moment he saw the headless body of the ranger moving forward while blood squirted out from his neck.

Hiss!!

It all happened too fast for the group, they had never encountered a Basilisk in all their years of adventure so they didn't know of the Horror of pissing one off.

The Explosive Arrow hit nothing but Midori's Skin Clone and while he was distracted with the aftermath, Midori appeared from his shadow and ate his head. The augmentation in size happened in an instant and when the healer was observing the Rangers body move forward a huge object move in front of him and all he saw was a pair of Golden Eyes and then everything went dark.

BOOOM!!

Midori swung her tail and shattered the stone statue of the healer and was only then that the Paladin looked backwards and slowed his pace. The rogue he was chasing quickly disappeared from his mind and he grabbed his sword an shield even more tightly.

A 20 ft serpent with a diameter of 2 ft stood in front of him and all he could do was gulped. There were protrusions coming out of the serpent's head and a double row of teeth that shone with green light as a bright green liquid drip from her mouth that caused sizzling noises every time a drop felled to the ground.

"Fuck Me!" Said the paladin before placing his shield forward to receive the Poison Breath coming his way.

Clank!

The breath was follow by a Massive tail whip that sent the paladin flying 20 feet before hitting a tree that was broke in two. The paladin resilience towards poison and disease was pretty high and that barely gave him a chance to stop the poisonous gas from invading his lungs.

The paladin shook his head to regain his bearings and saw the vegetation around him dying in real time as the poisonous gas spread out.

Midori launched herself towards the palading that activated a skill called Aegis of Light that created a shield of Holy power in front of his body to receive her attack but instead of ramming against it, she just twisted her body and quickly wrapped herself around him and squeezed.

It was all over, the paladin couldn't keep up with the strong poison coming from her body which consumed so much of his Holy Aura and the binding pressure kept mounting by the minute. It took only two minutes for the aegis to falter and for the bones of the paladin to break under the heavy pressure.

Midori quickly disposed of the bodies and to her surprise there was an extra one in the shape of the rogue that didn't make it far enough. Hennessy on the other hand opted to travel in an invisible state and go as far as she could without stopping finally reaching the outskirts of a town.

There were endless groups of people traveling in different directions and some of them looked pretty strong and others pretty weak with respect to her strength. Hennessy didn't risk being exposed and kept her distance while sending the information back towards Riddick that relied the information to the team.

The information reached the team and shear amount of people moving about according to Hennessy made them uneasy and just when things couldn't get any worse the situation deteriorated even more when they saw the 20 ft Midori appeared in the forest causing Rahz to face slap himself before saying, "What happened to not calling attention to ourselves?"

"Midori said she was discovered and there was no way to avoid a confrontation, also that she was able to kill them and that we should join in the fun". Said Elune with a smile on her face.

Rahz thought about what Midori said for a second and in his opinion, there was a possibility the people coming over were not too strong since it was the first time the portal was opened, worst come to worst, he had his demonic transformation and Xiao to help them escape.

"The people from the town should be arriving to her location shortly, tell her to fall back but to not decreased her size"

Midori did as told and as she ran back, the trees along the way split apart and left a trail of destruction which the groups coming from the city could follow.

It didn't take long for a few groups to arrive and see a few equipment pieces scattered around and the trail of dead vegetation leading to what could be the layer of an ancient creature that got angry at all the commotion going around thanks to the Asura invasion.

The first group had 15 people with them of all classes but none of the members were Level 35 or Higher. They were a Zerg group that believed that there was strength in numbers to overwhelm their foes, the majority of the members were just passers by that decided to join in the fun thinking that at the very least they could stab an Asura a couple of times and maybe get some points by getting the killing blow.

Many of the low level groups arriving had to use their defensive skills just to stop the lingering poison gas from invading their bodies and causing damage.

People said that curiosity killed the cat and the low levels following behind Midori were the little kittens walking to their deaths. The closer they got to Midori, the bigger the group got and people kept joining and following until the 15 became 60 and among them there were some Level 35's that immediately assumed leadership and provided order to the siege.

"You guys hear that?"

"No what is it?"

Thumb … Thumb … Thumb

"I do … I do… It … It sounds... like drums"

Whistle ...Whistle…

"Nah... it sounds like a flute to me"

In the middle of the conversation that didn't looked like it belong on a dangerous expedition, the massive party arrived in front of a massive serpent with a metallic green color skin that was curled on the ground and seemed to be sleeping comfortably.

The sound of music instruments kept coming at the group and they seemed to be coming from somewhere around the body of the 20 ft snake almost like a lullaby. Midori's Level was in the beginning stages of the third tier and the leaders of the siege could tell the serpent in front of them had the same combat power as they did but they were many and the serpent although massive was only one.

The 60 people spread out and got into a simple formation with the healers and casters in the back and the defensive warriors at the front while all the others were spread out around waiting for the signal to attack.
