Chapter 127 - Sigfrid vs Nightmare

Sigfrid traveled with his team in the back of 4 level 40 Winged Lions that were extremely powerful and made their team eight strong. The plan was simple, Sigfrid and the others were to delivered the message of Ivan Pendragon to the leaders of the abyss and request for the Criminal Rahz a.k.a The Behemoth,a.k.a the leader of the Demon Squad to be turned over into their custody so he could be judge for his crimes against their organization.

The hidden agenda was to kidnap or kill Rahz if their request was denied and then flee the abyss while obtaining the enchanted pouch in his possession as an offering to Lord Odos for all the souls that had been lost.

Sigfrid knew that the faith of his team had been decided and that it was very unlikely that they could kill the target and make it to the portal in one piece, somebody had to buy time for sigfrid to leave or the whole thing would be for nothing. It was no surprise that he was call the Righteous Fool as only him would take this sort of missions.

The team flew in a diamond formation and made their way to the portal of the Abyss with Sigfrid leading his team as the vanguard. The team had a Rogue, a Priest, a Mage and a Paladin. They had been fighting together and looking over each others backs for more than 100 years and had close to 90% completion rating on their missions for the organization and they were savages when it came to fighting.

The team had flown to the abyss a few times before and they didn't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen since the abyss guards only care about what happen inside the portal under the Chaos Moon.

Sigfrid's team left in a hurry and were being brief about the mission in plain flight using communication runes inscribed to their wrist. This was a practice commonly used for special forces in the realm as communication was of utmost importance. The background information regarding their target and the events that led to the Mission were all transmitted by their captain.

The Information given by Omega told them that everything happened thanks to the Son of one of the Silverwing Auction House directors of a town called Naas who was killing infidels that rejected lord Odos Grace. The so called Demon Squad were friends of one of the victims and had managed to killed Ross Moriarty and escaped with the help of a Coercer according to the testimony of the Guard Captain that showed signs of memory tampering.

The information given continued by saying that the killings of their members were retaliation against Mycroft Moriarty who was the father of the Ross Moriarty and had placed a bounty on all the members and couldn't let go of his revenge. According to the Information provided by the Thieves Guild, the members of the Demon Squad were at most in their 20s in terms of levels and did not have a backer when they left the town almost 5 years before.

"This is where the story gets interesting guys, It turns out that the Demon Squad fled from the Bounty Hunters and end up in the Abyss where by some sick joke the Leader and our target ended up as the direct disciple of our good friend Giant Blade" Said Sigfrid while wearing a serious expression on his face.

The moment they heard the name Giant Blade, all the faces of the team got sour. That explained why omega was defeated and why a level 20th had managed to kill hundreds of third tiers. Even the people that they were cursing as incompetent before allowing the Sword of Justice to get stolen now look pitiful in their eyes. Giant Blade was a pain in the ass to deal with, specially if he had his 3 wives backing him up and providing him with buffs only Sigfrid was able to content against him.

"Wait a second…Isn't Giant Blade friends with Nigh... " Before the Priest could finished the sentence, an enormous FrostBall 10 ft wide broke through the clouds like and anti-aircraft missile heading their way.

Sigfrid's team turned left to avoid the blast but very soon 6 more FrostBalls came their way.

"We need to split up Guys, our position has being compromised looks like Frost Wyverns are heading our way… "

"Shit I can see 7 of them and oh Shit is that an Undead Dragon …"

"Fuck!!! is Nightmare!! We have been set up"

The Wing Lions were a lot smaller than the Wyverns but in an aerial fight they had the advantage in terms of speed, what they lacked was in terms of destructive power. Sigfrid's team was highly experienced and after evading the first round of FrostBalls they went in different directions, one broke hard right , one broke left, one decreased their Height while Sigfrid went above the clouds.

The maneuver turned out to be the correct course of action as it force the wyverns to separate at the rate of 2 enemies per each member of Sigfrids group. The Idea behind Sigfrids move was to use the superior speed of his mount to get into a position in which he could see the battlefield and help his friends with covered fire by doing a loop high in the air and coming behind the enemy and shooting Fireballs from behind.

Nightmare's Undead Dragon was massive and even though it was slow, its blast covered a wide field which Nightmare used to his advantage by shooting the area were Sigfrids was going to perform the flip upside down stopping him from even attempting the loop.

WHOOOSH! WHOOSH!!

The powerful wings of the dragon could be heard flapping and moving upwards while shooting massive FrostBalls as if they were missiles.

The Air was in chaos as Fireballs and FrostBalls were shot covering the sky.

The powerful mounts were doing barrel rolls, defensive spirals and many other aerial tactics while being covered in their protected fields. The Wing Lions had fire energy surrounding their bodies and this allowed them to receive some of the blast and continue the fight but it came at a big cost of stamina.

The mages were definitely the most lethal Aerial fighters as they also launch their spells in conjunction with their mounts. The two warlocks in the side of Nightmare quickly teamed up and attacked the Rogue that could only use his Bow and Arrow to retaliate but that was hardly enough to stop the barrage of spells coming his way.

ACID RAIN

NETHER BIND

Chains made out of shadow energy sprout out of little portals around the Wing Lion and try to bind it as droplets of acid rain hit the Flame Shield of the mount and started to corrode it. The speed of the Winged Lion was incredible as he did barrel rolls avoiding the chains very skillfully.

SHOOTING STAR

The Mount couldn't do it alone, the Rogue use his most powerful Bow Skill to shoot one Frostball and offset the path of the other with the explosion. When the second FrostBall hit the ground, it froze a zone half a mile in diameter killing everything in sight.

"WHOOOH HOOO! That's what I am talking about" screamed the Rogue at the top of his lungs after solving that barrage of attacks. The Rogue's adrenalin was pumping but that moment of distraction cost him dearly as he didn't see the massive Frostball coming his way from up above.

ROAR!

Sigfrid's Lion was the patriarch of the herd and the other Winged Lions were his children.

The patriarch saw the attack heading towards his youngest and it enraged him as he fired 3 separate attacks in a hurry to stop the Undead Dragon's blast from hurting his kid.

The three attacks were fired in a hurry and one hit the Frostball while another just hit the floor and the third one hit one of the Wyverns shields that depleted at a fast pace. The Warlock assessed the situation extremely fast and immediately assisted his mount by casting his own Mana Shield that absorbed the remaining power of the FireBall.

The Undead Dragon's attack decreased thanks to the fireball but the remaining energy hit Rogue's mount while another Acid Rain hit them as well and the barrage finished with another FrostBall from the second Wyvern.

Pssssh.

The Acid Rain attack started corroding the Rogue's defensive energy and unfortunately got the defenseless wings of the Lion which made him lose balance in the air. The Rogue had to burn one of his hidden cards and disappeared from the back of the Lion and reappeared in the air close to the ground before the Wyvern FrostBall hit the wounded mount sending it crashing to the ground.

It was a live or death situation and there was no time to sob, they were warriors an the only thing left to do was to take care of as many enemies as possible to avenge his long time partner.

Nightmare's team was designed specifically to deal with Sigfrid's and they had detailed information of the classes it was usually compose off. The two warlocks attacking in the air was fine but sending 2 mages against a rogue once the fight moved to land was just stupid. One of the Warlocks sent a signal and called for one of the people attacking the priest to switch roles and go to support the other warlock in subduing the Rogue.

The fight Rogue Vs Warlock plus Berserker was about to ensue.
