I was floating...surrounded by darkness.
Ding!
Your contract does not require you to continue fighting. Do you wish to re-spawn on the battleground?
I couldn't just leave them...
Yes!
The world began to materialize around me, until I once again stood in front of the blue portal. I faced the battle-ground, my eyes darting back and forth as I tried to take everything in. I couldn't see Bloom and the others amongst the fighting. The breach in the line we had created was no longer present. The defenders now held strong, with their full force back in action. Both sides were taking heavy damage with every second, but the healers were doing an extraordinary job.
I remembered watching videos about healing at this stage in the most recent war games. The healing spells available were able to be cast quickly with little to no cooldown, and they are powerful.
Neither side was gaining ground despite the fierceness of the battle.
"Looking for us?" Bloom said from beside me.
I turned and saw Legend, InfiniteBloom, Phantasmal, and our current battle commander, Tower standing together.
"What happened? Did you die?" I ask, confused.
"The commander ordered us to return here. It is a violation of our contracts to disobey the direct order of a battle commander. " Phantasmal said, stepping forward. "I used my shadow sphere to bring us here after the enemy commander defeated you. I hit him with an attack, but he is immune to shadow damage. He has many movement and escape abilities, making him a formidable foe. It is my belief that his class has been altered much like ours. "
"Sun God's Warriors. There are five of them in total. I have been watching them...and you. " Tower said, finally speaking up. "We don't have much time, Myth. I need you to listen to me. "
"Apologize to Legend for calling him a rat and I will. " I responded.
Tower looked like he was going to explode but he calmed himself and turned to face Legend. "I'm sorry for what happened to you, and for calling you a rat. On the moon side I was being watched, but here I can speak freely. Listen, I know you guys must hate me but I had my reasons. I am a nobody. My guild and I have been right on the border of joining a professional war for ten years. I have tried everything, until I made a deal with the devil. All I had to do was put Legend on a boat, and keep an eye on the son of a powerful man. "
"My father did this..." I said through gritted teeth. "I am sorry Legend I didn't know. "
Legend smiled, "It's cool man, people are always trying to kill me, but I'm like a cockroach. I've already got my revenge, remember. "
"Yes he did. " Tower said smiling. " One life is a small price to pay. I believe in my guild, we just need a chance and this is it. "
Tower waved his hand and a digital screen appeared before us. The screen showed all the units in the battle on both sides. It showed everything. You could see the health, class, and much more as they moved around in real time.
"I let you charge in, hoping the sheer force of your power would be enough. "
As he spoke the screen replayed the events from a bird's eye view. I saw us appear among the enemies, creating a huge path. Then the assassin guy showed up and routed us.
"This kind of strategy won't work." Tower said as the screen reset to the current battle. "They have five powerful fighters that must be taken into account. I will split you four up and place you in charge of a squadron. They will respond and send the sun warriors. The wildcard is that assassin, Rax. He is an unknown, who has never been seen on the professional level. I will do my best to communicate his location. If he comes near any one of you, back up and then re-engage. "
The screen had changed according to his thoughts, making his presentation seem quite dramatic and engaging.
" I'm in. " I said, when he finished.
Ding!
You are now the leader of a squadron!
A new interface loaded, giving me new access to the same screen that Tower had been using.
"The system responds to your thoughts. " Tower explained. "Think of a unit, and imagine where you want it to go. The game will assign orders to them. My guild is very good at following orders. "
Ding!
Received orders from commander.
I saw digital markers appear on the screen, telling us to move to a particular location. A target beacon was created as well that floated above the physical location.
We all moved to our positions. Legend would be in charge of the left squadron, with Phantasmal and myself in the center. This left the far right squadron to Infinitebloom.
I shifted to draconic snake form and activated stealth once I got to my squad. I picked the strongest looking tank at the front and prepared to attack. I decided to use my squadron, and sent them orders to focus all damage on the next tank over.
I used a sneak attack with a strike from my powerful jaws.
-2500🗡️(0/500HP)
You have slain a player! Gained 1 contribution point!
The player dissolved into blue dust.
I quickly attacked another one as the damage dealers followed my orders, focusing all attacks on my chosen target. His health quickly dropped.
-1208🗡️(0/498HP)
You have slain a player! Gained 1 contribution point!
I could see that they had gotten the other tank down to 20%. I cast a nature bolt at him to finish him off.
-150☄️(0/500HP)
You have slain a player! Gained 1 contribution point!
The warriors cheered as the tide of battle had suddenly changed.
I heard Tower's voice in my head, "That assassin is headed your way, back up for a minute."
I listened and moved back, re-entering stealth.
"Good Job, he stopped moving. Now, your opponent is some kind of beast taming class. If you look up, you will its pet."
I looked around to see a large bird flying above the battlefield. I also spotted the one he called the beast tamer. He stuck out like a sore thumb, with his large form covered in layers of monstrous animal fur. He had a large crossbow, and an axe slung across his back.
