Chapter 3

*******************************

I followed him to his woodworking workshop. Marvin told me that there were are a few pestering imps that kept on setting his stuff on fire. He asked me to take care of them and relinquish their souls. They were once forest spirits, but an evil warlock attacked the forest village recently and his corrupt power had changed them.

🛎️ Quest Received!

Yes!

Quest accepted, Save the forest spirits- 0/10

Marvin handed me a few things and wished me luck as he returned to his post in the tree.

- Received Ten Mana potions - Recover 50 Mana, 30-second cooldown.

- Received Ten Health Potions Recover 50 hp, 30-second cooldown.

Skillbook-Howl ( only usable in wolf-form) Briefly stuns targets in the area can interrupt spellcasting. 30-second cooldown.

Skillbook-Wolf form- Allows you to Shapeshift into a wolf. Due to owning claw a new ability has been formed.

Bite-Deals 150% damage and deals 25% bleed damage over 10 seconds.

I learned the skill books and gained level 1 in each skill.

Before leaving Marvin hands me a bag of white dust and tells me to sprinkle it over the remains of the imps and it will free their souls..

The quest location is outside of Marvin's workshop. It only takes a moment to get there, so I decide to use the shapeshifting ability.

Transforming into the wolf was fast and painless. I felt myself fall to the floor on four legs. I could feel the power and responsiveness of this new body as I clenched my jaw and stretched my muscles.

I sniffed the air and smelled the scent of sulfur, and brimstone. Two small red humanoid 's with horns and flaming eyes stood in the clearing before me.

Level 3 Imp 200hp

Skills-Claw-deals 150% damage , chance to cause bleed effect.

Fireball-3 sec cast deals 30 damage.

My base stats changed when I shifted based on a percentage. I decided to place one skill point into Shapeshifting. The wolf's muscles bulged as I literally grew larger. My base attack damage increased by one and the cooldown time was now reduced by five seconds!

I put a point into a howl and it increased the willpower check required to avoid to 19 and also decreased the cooldown time by five seconds.

I placed five points in dexterity and five points in strength.

Rushing in I bit the imp on the arm.

You have dealt 15 damage! (185/200hp) - + >5 bleed damage over 5 secs.

I ripped into the arm, sending spurts of blood between my teeth.

Both imps begin to cast a spell, but I was relentless with my attacks.

You have dealt 30 damage! (125/200hp)

Critical!

You have dealt 90 damage! (35/200hp)

Halting my attack for a moment and used Howl, causing an earsplitting cry to erupt from my mouth.

Success! Imps have failed willpower check and are now stunned for two seconds, spell interrupted.

With a savage crunch I finished off the imp.

You have slain level 5 imp!

Gained 50 experience! (3850/10000)

The second imp was now by itself, and posed no real threat to me. Within a minute I heard the notification.

Ding!

You have slain imp!

Gained 50 experience!(4000/10000 to level.)

This was when I noticed a buff, called Aura of the Wolf-master. - while in wolf form and in proximity to your pack leader critical strike rate increases by 75%. Side effect- Rage -Inflicts an emotional state that causes you to be angry.

What is this? Can games change emotional states? How could this be? First a hidden effect that I truly believe is a scam. I bet if I used it on myself it wouldn't even work. Why would my dad go through so much trouble...

I ignored all the 'feelings' that were bubbling up inside of me, and focused on the quest.

With the critical buff, the rest of the imps posed no threat to me and within ten minutes I had completed the quest. Over the course of this time, I had managed to gain control of this "Rage" bit by bit until it no longer affected me.

Returning to my elven form I walked around sprinkling the dust on the bodies. A blue luminescent spirit appeared, flying around playfully before shooting into the sky towards the moon. In a moment it had disappeared from sight.

Fighting the imps had earned me 400 combat experience, but no drops which was fine.

I turned in the quest, which gave me 1000 experience. (5400/10000.)

He gave me the same quest again, saying that there are yet more spirits in need of saving.

The quest wasn't that hard so...I completed it a few more times to increase my experience.

The amount I used bite increased the skill level to level 2(160%damage, 30% bleed damage)

That was fun, but the rage thing was getting old. I was ready to no longer be Marvin's apprentice.

After saving all of the spirits, Marvin tells me he wants to make me some strong wooden armor, but he needs me to gather the materials.

New quest!

Difficulty- S - Kill the Demon Tree.

Do you accept?

Marvin has asked you to kill the demon tree that is roaming nearby. It was corrupted by the warlock as well. It souls need to rest, and it is ancient wood, so it will make strong armor.

This request was strange, but I decided to go ahead and do it anyway. I just wanted to get away from the guy.

When I got to the quest location I was quickly confused, The quest mob was a level 10 elite with 5000 health! What kind of crazy quest was this? I knew there was something strange about him.

Around this time Infinite-Bloom messaged me, asking me what I had going on. She had found a quest that I might enjoy.

With my quest at a standstill, I decide to go see.

Quest! Shared by Infinite-Bloom- Accepted.

Difficulty-C- rewards- Unknown.

A group of moon elves has grown sick, it seems to be a poison but without the cause an antidote its impossible to make. Help find the source of the infection so an antidote can be made. Time remaining - one hour.

I head to the quest location and see a domed building with cots inside. The audible sounds of moaning could be heard in the building, as those infected with the poison cried out in pain.

Infinite-Bloom looked up as I arrived, quickly finishing her healing spell before addressing me.

She seemed happy to see me, "Thanks for coming. I have been healing these people non stop but it's just a temporary solution. If you want, you can try and find the source of the poison. "

I decided to try it and see. "Alright I'll do it. You gonna be alright here? These people don't look so good."

"I'm a professional healer, I'll keep them alive till you get back. "

I smiled and pretended to look at a watch on my hand. "Well, it's been about an hour so if I don't come back I am probably having a seizure. So if I never see you again, it was nice. I hope you'll consider me your friend. "
