Chapter 18 - Excitement

After Renard had passed the first farm, the people traffic had rapidly declined, which helped support his previous theory that the first farm didn't use carts to transport their goods.

As Renard continued down the road nothing eventful happened, only the occasional passing cart grabbing his attention to distract from the monotonous walking. 'At least the surroundings are nice to look at.'

After a while, the first farm could no longer be seen behind him and there was no sign of the second farm other than the occasional cart. Renard figured that it wouldn't be long before he could see it though thanks to the more frequent farm land around him.

---

As Renard was about to go crazy from the monotonous boredom of walking, the second farm appeared on the horizon, which made him feel revitalised. It wasn't much, but for him it was some much needed stimuli.

Unlike the first farm, this one wasn't on a slope, meaning that Renard couldn't get a good view of the farm from above. It was only when he passed in front of the entrance to the farm itself that he could get a peek into the inner mechanisms of it.

By stepping off the side of the path and onto the lush grass, Renard took a moment to look into the farm and observe what was going on inside.

As he expected, the main building looked almost identical to the first farms, and he couldn't tell much difference between the activity of the workers either. The main difference was the presence of carts in this farm, helping to move things around and transport workers.

Although he was fascinated with the little things, Renard quickly became bored of the second farm. It was pretty much the first farm just with carts, there wasn't much to look at.

Stepping back onto the path, he continued forward, hoping that something would happen to sate his boredom that was building again already. However, he was not so lucky.

---

It wasn't until Renard could no longer see the second farm behind him that something finally happened. Renard had previously resigned himself to the fate that there weren't "Adventurers" as he knew them in this world. So, the people that he suddenly saw on the opposite side of the road made him very happy.

The first thing he noticed was that it was a group of people. Which by itself was exciting, as everyone seemed to travel as individuals on the sides of the road. Then, he noticed the most exciting thing, which was that they actually looked like "Adventurers". Everything about them just screamed Adventurers to Renard.

There were two women and two men in the group. They were simply discussing amongst themselves, but as Renard looked at them, it was like he could feel their strength distorting the air around them. Just looking at the group made him tense up; their attire, the way they held themselves, the massive arms on the guy in front. All of it just screamed to Renard "strong". His inner voice was even telling him to look away, it screamed that if they saw him looking at them, he would die. But regardless of his natural response he couldn't, even if it would cost him his life he wouldn't. His dream in this world was right in front of him, he could become like that. Finally, he knew that possibility was there, if he really tried he would be able to become just like.

'Well, maybe not like that guy in the front, I like my arms being proportional to the rest of my body.' He chuckled to himself.

The guy at the front wasn't wearing a shirt, probably because he couldn't get a shirt that would fit. He only wore some thick, rugged looking black trousers that dragged across the floor as he walked. He was bald, and his skin was tanned, from that it was obvious he never wore a shirt. The man was also taller than the rest of the group, in fact he was even a good head taller than the rest. Yet, his most striking feature was the massive scar that took up at least 30% of his chest. It went from the top left of his chest to the bottom right past his waist. Renard wondered how he could have survived the wound that would have made a scar like that.

Next, were the two women who were walking next to each other whilst talking with the rest of the group. The woman on the left was fully covered in a shining silver armour set with the exception of her head, but that was highly likely to only be temporary as there was a helmet dangling from her waist. Her blonde hair was tied up in a bun and her bright blue eyes contrasted her pale skin. In addition to her helmet there was also a large sword in a scabbard on the opposite side of her waist, it was also highly detailed with ornate decorations and intricate carvings along its body and handle.

The lady on the right wore what looked like a wizard robe, it was a deep purple colour with black stitching all over, it looked like it had been patched up multiple times. Other than that, she also had a large rimmed wizard hat of the same colour, the rim was so large that it even gave cover to the armour wearing woman from the scorching sun. Her features were hard to make out, as there seemed to be a strange blue sheen covering her skin. Renard could at least tell that she had short brown hair and brown eyes, but it was almost as if her other features were blocked from Renard's vision.

The last member of the group was a man who just looked like he was wearing a moss skin suit, only his hands and face were exposed, it even looked like he was wearing a skull cap of moss. He was also walking further off to the side of the road than the rest of the group, trudging through the grass. The man was the shortest of the group, and based on his skin, he also seemed to be the youngest. However, that was hard to tell too, as a large part of his face was taken up by a large beard. Although to Renard, this man looked a bit stupid, his fight or flight response was screaming for him to get away from him the most.

It didn't take long for the group to pass Renard, thankfully, his staring didn't seem to bother them. His rationale was that they must attract that sort of attention wherever they go, especially thanks to that moss man.

Once the group finally started to head outside of Renard's vision, he faced forward again and started to pay attention where he was going. After gathering his thought of the encounter, he realised he had made a blunder.

'Why didn't I scan them! That could have provided helpful information about cultivating.'

Renard immediately turned around to see if one of them was still in his vision. Luckily for him, the moss man seemed to have been distracted by something in the grass and was loitering behind the rest of the group and hadn't passed out his vision just yet.

'Phew, thank you Mr.Moss Man. SCAN!'
