[Werewolves were almost unmatched in the forest, they could not be out maneuvered and almost every trap you set for them, they'll find a way to escape from it. Except of course the trap themselves were containments ritual circles. All spirits, no matter how different they were, functioned under the same set of rules, whether you were corporeal or incorporeal, if it applied to ghosts and wraiths, then it definitely applied to vampires and werewolves.
So if a formation of salt and blood with a little bit of water can keep ghosts in check, then it would be even more effective for werewolves. But salt, water and blood was a general consensus, it was the universal answer to suppressing spirits, so there'll always be those strong enough, or peculiar enough to break out of such formations. But even then, they all still had particular weaknesses.
