Chapter 72 - Elders

When night almost came Zhao Wei and Pitka left Solith's house. But Zhao Wei left a small packet of meat with Rona in case he didn't come around tomorrow. In the same empty field Pitka translated the book for Zhao Wei.

"Now, I'm not sure of the whole effects as we only collected this book from an old ruin, but I've seen plenty of human training methods to know that this is to train their chi... if you're not sure about this you could always bring it to a human territory next time and ask around." Prick explained. "Though I suggest you don't tell it to any of the powerful families of an area as they would definitely kill to get such a thing.

Zhao Wei thought about it a little but decided to just go through with it. In the first place, he didn't even know where the next human settlement was. And most of all he'd been thinking these days, if his world had somehow been brought together with the Naga's origin world, was there a possibility that there were more worlds in the mix? If there was that would mean that the next human settlement may not necessarily be able to understand this book.

The gist of the technique was to follow the breathing pattern and draw energy from the surrounding into the person's body, collecting it near the heart until it would form a pool which would nourish the rest of his body.

What he was frightened of is if human bodies were essentially different from different worlds. If so he might just be killing himself. But luckily he'd learnt biology in highschool and all the organ placements in the diagrams seemed legit.

He started the breathing exercise. Suddenly all his muscles felt like they were tearing apart, something rippled under his skin. "Oh crap!! Stop now!! I didn't think it'd be that strong!!" Pitka screamed, this method was more powerful than most of the other breathing methods he'd seen. And this was only the first stage.

He was thankful he kept this book quiet. Or else the Dracarian kingdom would have been besieged on all sides by every human army they knew.

But Zhao Wei didn't stop, or more like he couldn't. Once he started to absorb the surrounding energy his body was like a sponge that met water. The rate was ridiculous and he was sure if he still wasn't able to stop in the next few seconds that he'd explode.

Pitka was also troubled, he wanted to stop Zhao Wei but that was up to Zhao Wei himself. If he stopped the process forcefully it would be as good as crippling his path forever. Without the boost to his body, he'd die out later anyway.

Zhao Wei couldn't take much anymore, so he decided to go for broke. He channeled the energy right into his body directly. According to the book and Pitka, people usually gathered the energy until it formed a core before deciding their path. Zhao Wei wasn't sure of the negative effects but he didn't have time to think about it right now.

He forced the energy to move into his meridians, especially in his fingers and hands which were among the toughest parts of his body. He had wanted to move some of it towards his legs but felt something in his throat and focused to there.

Pitka was still contemplating the problem when he noticed something. Although it was currently bad, Zhao Wei's body didn't get worse. It was like the originally rampaging excess was balancing out and pushing against other places.

He decided to just watch and intervene later if something did happen. But the stand still continued.

In the meeting, the noble side was astonished. Today Jyaha has played safe instead in comparison to his aggressive attitude for the past few days. He'd even brought the man he'd kicked out due to Guru, it was more of a power play than anything.

With Guru's continuos absence he was thinking that Guru probably had washed his hands of the situation. Even if these idiots couldn't contribute any good ideas, they could pester the opposition with idiotic ones and tire them out for him to take his strike at the earliest possible moment.

Even if they were idiots they could still put two and two together. It had something to do with the new man that stood near the princess. Even the field had shifted.

Originally, although all the elders group were generally considered one group, they were still divided between the guild heads and retired generals. That being the case the retired generals were a far less outspoken group acting more as deterrents more than anything. Additionally the guild heads grew from the people themselves and those under them came from the normal civilians as well.

Hence it was safe to say that whatever they decided to take for their group would return to the population itself.

But today the elders group which was usually mixed together were split in two. The retired generals moving to sit next to the princess. It was sudden, extravagant and definitely confusing for both the noble side and the guild leader's side. As tens of generals picked themself up and shifted seats to the originally empty side of the princess.

The noble group may not know who he was but the elders did.

He was one of the oldest and most respectable generals in the whole kingdom.

If Guru was the defender of Dracas, then Chora was the sword of Dracas.
