The dings rattled through my head without stopping. Knowing that I didn't need to suffer anymore, I dealt with the most pressing matter that was affecting me.

The cold.

It tried to escape from the cold, but it was hard. It felt like I was running through a pool of water because my whole body resisted my movement.

Tink. Tink. Tink.

Chunks of ice and flesh fell off my mental body as I pushed my body forward and I was finally able to escape the flow of the cold mist.

Instantly, I felt warmer.

"Wha... what's our... s... status?" I asked through my shivering.

the gluttonous voice cried out. Tipid and weak, I knew I had to take over immediately.

I closed my eyes and poof. I was back. Back in the real world.

The world was fuzzy. My vision was blocked out by tears as I could barely see the world around me.

'Great job... holding on.' I said gently as I cleared my eyes and felt the pain as well. 'I'll avenge us.' I continued as the source of the pain became more evident.

Two sets of teeth, four sharp daggers were stabbed into the area behind my neck. I winced in pain as I shook my weak body back and forth in an attempt to knock them off.

They didn't let go. With a tight hold, they continued to inject streams of coldness deep within my body.

I was stuck again. I was stuck with the same problem as before. Unable to move because of being bound, I couldn't attack nor get away from being attacked.

But I wasn't afraid. This time was different. I knew what to do.

'Let's escape first and then I'll show you how it feels to make a meal out of me.' I thought to myself.

I recalled the feeling of the mist. The coldness of the mist, the way it moved everything.

As though I knew what to do, I held onto that feeling and used it. Slowly, I felt my body changing. Like it was being spread out like a piece of dough, it flattened. Like every cell in my body was being guided by some unknown force, it was stretched out and spread apart. Gently, I felt my cells and molecules drift apartment. Yet, they still seemed to be attached together by invisible strings.

'Misty Shift.' I thought as my body vaporized and became air - became a mist. I felt my entire body mix slowly with the air in the room, but all I saw was darkness... Yes. I became blind.

The Frostfangs jumped backwards in surprise as I disappeared and became Mist. Imagine your meal suddenly went poof and it became gas. Yup.

What? How did I know this?

I felt it. Although I couldn't see, I could feel every part of the room like I was connected with it. Every nook and cranny, the interlaced filaments that made up the room, the dead corpses on the floor even the struggling baby Frostfangs that manage to survive, the movements of the Frostfangs, the heat their bodies generated even the motions they went through as they were breathing. I felt everything.

But then I felt my body begin to descend.

'No!!!' I thought to myself in disappointment. Finally freed from the binds of the webbing I wanted to unleash all my pent-up anger and wrath. I wanted to use my the new spell I learned [Frozen Mist Spear]. I wanted to tear through their bodies and teach them the deadly lesson of feeding on my body. I wanted to devour their bodies as I savoured their deaths in front of my eyes and witness their fear as I ate.

But wasn't able to. The world didn't let me.

Like the cold mist that continued to search for a way downward, I did too as my body slowly drained through the gaps of the floor. I tried and tried as hard as I could to pull myself upward, but I couldn't. The gluttonous voice shouted.

I was so disappointed and frustrated that I almost trusted the voice... until my intuition held me back.

You see, the magic of our world is a wonderful thing... Yet it's deadly... for both the enemy and the user. There are many interactions that are hidden from plain view and these interactions such as materializing within a floor, would be quite deadly to the user.

I'm not sure if I was lucky that day... or if I was just a genius... but I didn't go through with it. Instead, I was smart.

'Our body's in pieces... if I came back together now wouldn't we be fused into the floor?' I asked as I let myself sink down through the floor. And as I did. I began to feel her once more - the Female Frostfang.

Resting below us, she sat. With every breath, she sprayed more and more mist into the room. Unmoving... she didn't seem to notice that I had escaped, but I remained as vigilant as I could as my body slowly descended and mixed with the clouds of cold mist at the bottom of the room.

I knew that I couldn't make the same mistake again, so before I reached the floor I cancelled the magic.

Strings. Invisible strings that seemed to tie my body together pulled each part tightly. As if I was the string from a wool sweater, I was instantly knitted back together as my vision returned to me and I fell.

Thud. The ground shook as I landed and broke the layer of ice that had formed on the floor of the chilly room. The room jostled around as I did.

Pausing, I looked around - for any movement or indication that the Giant had felt me.

She didn't.

Shoving the thought of fighting to the back of my mind, I looked for the exit. I was done. I was so done of the cold. I knew I couldn't win in a fight with the Female Frostfang and I knew I couldn't get back up to where I was.

I was tired and I wanted out. So I decided to leave.

The gluttonous voice agreed in a tired voice as I slid forward through the mist. I looked for the faint light that shone through the wall...

Streams of mist crossed me by and chilled my body. But I didn't care. My resistances and cold mastery held it off. It was like the cold didn't affect me anymore.

But as I moved, I continued to sense her. The Female Frostfang's breathing... the coldness. It was getting closer and closer. Inching forward, I wished in my mind for only one thing. 'Please don't block the way out.'

But nope. She just had to be there. Standing in front of the lit exit, the Female Frostfang laid.

Guarding it.

I stopped in my tracks immediately as I saw her through the mist. Bellows of cold frost slipped through her sides as she laid there - asleep.

Gently, now I moved forward as slowly as I could over the layers of ice. I neared up to her. Like entering the den of a sleeping dragon, I knew I couldn't make a mistake or quiver to alert her of my presence.
