The hit was forceful yet precise. I watched as the hit landed on the body of the second creature through all airborne sand and dirt.
The second creature was pushed back. I seemed to scramble about. It tried desperately to regain its footing as it skidded backwards through the forest.
Thump. Thump. Thump. I heard the trees and plants crumbled behind her body as it tried to hold onto the ground.
A scream. A bark. Another two souls were lost under the tremendous weight of the giant as it seemed that nothing was able to block its path through the forest.
I took in a deep breathe of air as I felt the shock wave from the hit reach me.
'Who in the world can survive I hit like that?' I thought as I weathered the wind generating by the hit.
As I pulled out my head once more, I witnessed the creature that was its backside burst out from the dust cloud.
It was round, asymmetrical and covered in green.
As its body knocked over more and more trees, I saw the edges of a familiar shape. A semi-circle. Convoluted curves. A semi-glossy gleam of a large foot.
It was a snail. A gigantic snail.
Instantly, I and my fellow snails turned silent. We were in awe. We were tiny specks of sand in comparison to the snail before us.
The snail's body spanned many tree-lengths over, it's shell was colossal - the size of a small hill. Specks of colours littered the shell-like splatters of paint. Yet, it wasn't perfect. Littered with scratches, its shell was cracked in many places - they were injuries.
But what stood out the most were two vibrant colours that contrasted with her green coloured shell. One was red. The other was dark violet. Two giant flowers jutted out from on top of the shell and were out of place. I somehow knew that the flowers were special.
Seconds later, its head emerged from within the dust.
It was head was surprisingly round and completely different from ours. Creases dotted its forehead - and an indication of its age. Two large eyes poked out from the centre of her head. Coloured a bright shade of yellow, her eyes contrasted with her beige body and seemed out of place.
Anger. Anger filled her as her face wrinkled and she roared out.
We felt ground trembled from the force of her wail. She was definitely mad.
I quickly turned to look at the snail's assailant.
Still hidden in a shroud of dust, the silhouette lined its body had buckled down close to the ground.
'It was preparing for something, but what?'
Then, in a split second, it was gone. It had disappeared from my sight completely.
'Where...' But before I could finish my thought, the dust began to churn and move upward.
The sky was the answer.
It seemed to be pulled by an intense updraft, the dust cloud continued to ascend and form a pillar in the middle of the air.
A giant crater appeared before my eyes as an explosion filled my ears. The wind picked up once more and I was met with another shockwave.
'What strength!' I thought to myself as I braved the incoming wind. I looked into the sky for any signs of the creature amongst the dark clouds above.
A brown ball of fluff contrasted amongst the dark and stormy clouds.
Nearly touching the clouds, it stopped ascending as gravity seemed to neutralize its upward momentum.
Twirling out from its curled up state, it seemed to float briefly in place in the air. Along with it, were two long ears that jutted from its body.
It turned towards the ground and pointed its head straight in the direction of the ancient snail that had finally recovered its footing.
It pulled back its feet in towards its body. Building up strength back into its hind legs, it kicked once more. Two small lights seemed to shine from atop its ears.
And for a split second, nothing happened.
Then it was gone once more as it was replaced with a gaping hole that formed in dark clouds above it - a result from its powerful kick.
Screeching, it became a blur. The kick had launched itself towards to the ancient snail once more as it cut through the air. With the added force from gravity pulling it downwards, it looked like it was going in for a finishing blow.
Another shine emanated from the blur.
It was followed by another kick. And it... disappeared.
Before I could even react to where it went, a heard a loud roar followed by a loud bang. The earth trembled once more as something had definitely impacted it. I quickly shifted my vision over to the source. A dust cloud that had formed near the ancient snail.
I shuddered as I imagined the force of the impact.
'Did the snail die?' I pondered as I looked at the silhouette of the ancient snail that could have very well been one of my ancestors.
It remained in the same place as it did before the fluffy creature launched its attack from the sky.
She didn't slide backward like when she tried to absorb the previous hit.
Then a silence ensued as the entire forest went quiet.
Slowly, the dust settled.
My vision was quickly pulled, not to the ancient snail, but the violet flower on its shell. Thousands of tentacle-like appendages fluttered outward from its center. Half of which were broken and oozing a mysterious green liquid.
The ancient snail was fine.
The attack by the furred creature had somehow missed!
As the dust settled, I saw the trail of devastation that had formed behind it. Fallen down trees and broken forest floor marked a straight path away from us.
The attack hadn't missed. It was redirected!
I looked intently for its body, but I didn't see a thing.
The ancient snail roared and moved from her spot.
Left and right. The snail shifted its head around to in desperation to locate its assailant.
It probably didn't have a clue of where the furry creature went as well.
'I wonder what they are fighting over?' I thought. 'Why would two giants fight. It must be some important reason.'
Yes, I was scared of their fight reaching our tree. But at that point, I accepted our fate. It wasn't like we could escape our tree. We were tiny snails and a large world. And that was the first time we realized just how small we were.
...
After a few minutes, I felt the ground rumble.
In an instant, the dirt and ground broke apart beneath the ancient snail.
An attack from below!
Slamming upward with its pair long ears, the two flowers on its ears seemed to glow white as it launched a barrage of hits against the snail's shell from below.
Unable to protect against the impact, I heard the snail's shell crackle. Gaps and new seams. The shell cracked more and more with each blow.
With a final punch, the ancient snail was launched upwards in the air with the rocks stone and dark dirt of the forest.
During the ascent, the snail had ducked into its shell. At the same time, the vibrant red flower on her shell seemed to suddenly expand outward its petals laid flat against her shell.
It started with a trickle but ended up in a torrent as the flower spurted spores from its open mouth.
Like a dazzling rainbow, the spores showered over furry creature below it. The furry creature had crouched down once more as if it wanted to launch itself into the air after the snail, but seeing the shower colours raining from above, it let out and "EEEEP!" instead.
Frantically, it changed directions and dodged in our direction as a shower of spores touched the ground behind it.
The damage as instantly visible as the earth blackened and whatever plants that were still alive began to rot.
That wasn't it.
No.
Carried by the wind produced by the furry creature's movement, the dust seemed to come to life and chase after it.
The creature wasn't fast enough.
A touch. It was just a touch. The spores caught the lower left foot of the creature before it had completely escaped the cloud of spores.
Screeching in pain, the furred creature tumbled in the direction of our tree.
In the distance, the snail's shell landed without interference on the ground with a large thump. It too crushed more and more trees in its wake.
Crawling out from its shell it swerved around at record-snail speeds toward the downed furred creature stood up on one foot in front of us.
I finally had a good look at the furry beast.
A look of fear spread over its face as its confidence seemed to waver.
It tried to balance against a nearby tree for support.
Upright, it was just as tall as the tree.
It began to pant as it grimaced from its injured left foot. Drooping, flesh off by the heaps onto the fractured forest floor beneath it.
It's two giant ears dangled at its sides and reached down towards its belly. Clearer than before, it too had two mysterious flowers. But instead of on a shell, they were located on top of its ears.
They were definitely different from the ones on the snail. Instead, of being vibrant in colour, they were light beige and nearly blended into its brown ruffled fur.
Hmm... Now that I think about it. It was a gigantic rabbit.
...
I looked more closely at the furred creature. And just as I did, I saw a string of blue squiggles appear over its head.
"LV.???**"
The rabbit stared at the snail that was bolting towards it.
Surprisingly, it raised its arms and ears.
It started to screech in the snails' direction in a saddened tone.

"YES!" I yelled out instantly in response the voice in my head.
