On the fourth day, I didn't wake up from the the heat of the leaf. Instead, today it was quite cool.
I looked up into the sky and saw the shameless cloud from days before blocking out the sun.
Angrily I shook my eye stalk at it.
"Stupid cloud, come down here so we can fight! The Ultra Snail against water vapor, let's go."
I spent an hour flexing my strong eye stalks and single foot (my body) in order to intimidate the cloud and it finally worked as it slowly moved away from the sun.
Success!
I celebrated my victory by taking my morning walk / eating breakfast. I slowly glided across the underside of the leaf to a green area and dug in. Green. Yum.
Just as I was digging into my breakfast, a shadow crossed my view.
Could you guess what it was?
It was seven. No sorry... I got confused. I meant 7.
Seven... damn it. I mean 7, slid right in front of my face and started to eat in front of me. He blocked my view of the rest of the family which I used as entertainment as I ate.
'How dare he!' I thought.
What made it worse was that I couldn't see past his shell. No, 7 that scoundrel had grown larger than me.
And soon things started to make more sense.
Our birth leaf was being eaten at an exponential rate. More than half the leaf was gone now as the green expanse had become yellowed and desolate as the days passed.
I placed the blame on 7. Yes. I completely ignored the fact that hundreds of my siblings were contributing to the devastation as 7 had clearly eaten more than his share to grow to such a size.
As big bro, of the colony I needed to show him his place. It was totally not because I was jealous of his giant size or anything.
I slide up closer to him and gave him a gentle tap on his leg with my eye. "7!" I called out.
He stopped momentarily and looked around.
"Stop eating so much, save some food for the rest of our siblings!" I continued.
As if he didn't hear me, he slid away and continued to scrape the leaf up below him as he went. He even ignored me when I called his name once more! I needed to teach him a thorough lesson in the place of our missing parents.
I quickly caught up to him a second time and booped him harder with my eyes. This time I twisted my body and hit him hard with my single foot.
Wham! The forest shook from the power of my hit.
Okay, okay. I exaggerated a bit okay? It may have been the wind that shook the leaf at that moment that made the forest look like it had shook from my power.
The hit this time had an effect as 7 turned my way. I watched as he turned his body and his shadow covered my whole view. He had straightened his body in the process and towered over me with his extra 2 millimeters of height.
He was trying to intimidate me.
His giant body was a scary. But I didn't back down. I didn't run. No I was stronger than that.
"ARGH!" I screamed out at the top of my gills as I kept on bopping his body with my eye stocks. Slowly with every hit, he returned into his shell to hide.
'Hmph.. that'll teach him not to grow larger than me.' I thought.
Man I was on a role that day. Two victories!
Celebrating once more, I returned to my meal and enjoyed the rest of the day doing snail things: eating, pooping, sleeping. All the while, I continued to protect my siblings.
Summary of Day 4: I scared my nemesis: the cloud and showed 7 who was the true big bro.
