It was the next morning, and I stayed in my bed for longer than usual. Although righteous cultivators didn't require sleep once they reached a certain level, I was still a "low-level righteous cultivator" because I still didn't know how to tap into the cultivation of the previous Jin Yahui.
However, I have the sinking feeling that his cultivation is no longer here. Otherwise, how could I cultivate with my weird-*ss cultivation?
Sighing, I thought back to the diary that Jin Yahui wrote. Perhaps I could find the traitor there? I turned my head and grabbed at the book that sat just to the right of me.
Rifling through the pages, I once again spent two hours reading it.
It wasn't until I finished rereading the book that I realized how little contact the previous Jin Yahui had with others.
He usually only spoke to junior brother and, rarely, his master.
It was weird.
Could the one to poison him be his Master?
I rifled through the pages again and felt that that didn't make much sense. How could the prevous Jin Yahui be poisoned by a man that doesn't even see him for years?
Shaking my head, I coincidentally opened the book to the burned pages at the back. Curiousity overtook me as I placed my hand on the page, and then I hissed as I grabbed back my hand, the feeling of wrongness changing to a feeling of burning pain.
"What the f*ck!" I said, jumping off the bed and grabbing the basin of water that I used to wash my face in the morning. Plunging my hand into the bowl, I watched as tendrils of steam rose up. I paled as I saw the level of the water decrease visibly.
After the water was about half gone, the burning pain in my hand disappeared, and I was left with a single, almost unnoticeable mark. It was shaped like a Hamsa, the protective amulet that my mother wore sometimes.
< System has detected Substance %?@!$ and preventative measures were taken. System advises Host to be careful.>
I looked in surprise at the menu that appeared before me. Staring at it for a few seconds, I glanced back at the diary.
The weird feeling that I've felt for a few objects... was actually demon poison?
A chill went up my spine.
Wait.
I thought back to junior brother, the words of the doctor appearing in my mind. Junior brother wasn't supposed to survive because of the poison. Could he somehow managed to do the same thing that the system did for me? Combat poison for poison?
The feeling grew within me, and I couldn't help but act on it, leaving from my cabin at a fast speed.
I reached the infirmary and opened the door, coming face-to-face with Hairy.
The f*ck Hairy? I still haven't forgiven you, but I don't have time for this.
Hairy sent a look of despise at me before he pushed past my shoulder, moving towards the direction of the cafeteria.
I watched him leave before I entered the infirmary. It was time to see if my hypothesis was right.
