Nightingale went back to her room. A tear trickled down her face. She was disappointed that Roland did not reciprocate the kiss and did not come after her when she disappeared into the Mist world.
"How can he be so bad at this, he is almost like a rock" Nightingale sighed. However, this was all within expectations. Roland was tipsy when he made out with her anyway and he must have had a shock and hangover in he morning.
"Looks like I'll just have to try harder" Wiping away her tears, a steely look of determination appeared in her eyes. She was no longer the young maiden who was hopelessly in love and would stupidly wait for him. She knew Roland liked and enjoyed the night with her. She fondly remembered him whispering her name intimately. He had also wanted to kiss her back!
For a moment she was jealous of Anna, who could be showered with his love and affection almost every night. She knew that she should not have such thoughts as Anna was like a sister to her. She could not compare to Anna in terms of intelligence so she knew she could only rely on other measures.
People may think badly of her since Anna was already Roland's wife...but who said Roland could not take another wife. It did not go against the laws and even if it did he could change it since he was the law itself. Besides, she did not care about status or what other people thought as all she wanted was his love. Furthermore, Nightingale actually had Anna's permission. She remembered the night where Anna told her "I'm alright if he really likes you. I won't encourage nor discourage anything that happens between the two of you."
She was so happy at that time and even told Roland to wait for her. However, it has been 4 whole years and Roland had yet to make a move at all! She was having a bad day yesterday and suddenly had a thought to prank Roland with the new chaos drinks which had a high concentration despite not tasting like alcohol at all. Who knew he would be so proactive when drunk. The night gave her the motivation to try some new things.
With a new streak of determination, Nightingale got ready to meet Roland.
