~RUMBLE~
~RRROOAARRRR~
I was tinkering with my traps when I felt the ground shake and heard a loud roar.
"Must be a saharicus or a T-rex" I whispered.
Normally a Dino that big don't get too close to this area, might as well take a look at it and see what's happening.
I rushed to where I heard the loud roar from and saw a [1]saharicus and 2 humans the male was distracting the big dino while the woman ran away holding something that was being wrapped by a piece of cloth. As the woman was about to hide behind a tree, a raptor went out and tried to bite her but was barely able to evade because of the surprise attack. The raptor was so sure that it already obtained a free meal that when his bite missed her, he tumbled and fell into a cliff. The woman saw that the raptor wasn't alone and had to run away even though she was injured by the other one that fell in the cliff.
I ran towards her to help her treat the injury but when I got closer and saw her wound I silently lamented and felt sorry for her, I admired her perseverance and stamina to ran that fast while in severe pain.
"Please help me, take my child, I will distract their attention, they already sniffed out my blood and I'm sure that they'll keep following me." The woman said as she passed me the thing that she was holding and ran away in a zig-zaggidy manner.
I stood there and stared blankly at the thing that she left, it was a little child. It was sleeping peacefully without a care in the world. After I came to myself the woman was already gone.
I looked towards the direction where the woman has disappeared to and softly said.
"An underground base has collapsed again huh."
Living underground in the world is the norm for us humans. Maybe it's because of what happened when I was a child that this sight is already common to me, I was born into a village underground and lived there for 86 years before our village collapsed because of an earthquake.
That time I was so lost and didn't know what to do, I lived inside the underground village for almost all my life and relied on the Dino hunters to feed daily, that was when an earthquake happened, and the columns that was supporting the village collapsed one by one, I went scurrying outside the village and saw everyone coming out one by one, some have light injury, some had missing limbs, and some of the villagers that only have the upper half of their body were being carried out of the village. I was so scared that I ran as fast as I can, and as soon as I was away from the village I heard a loud ROAR, and then followed the screams. The Dinos smelled the blood in the air.
Maybe being a coward was the one thing I am proud about, I survived this hell hole because of my cowardice. I would even eat a small insect just to survive, at first it was hard to adapt until I bumped into a fight of a t-rex and a saharicus, the fight was intense and it went for about 60mins until the fight was settled, the winner was the t-rex.
While observing their fight, I realized one thing's for sure. The strong eat the weak. If I don't become strong it'll be a matter of time before I become the one being eaten.
After waiting for the rex to finish eating his fill and went back to her nest. I quickly came to the saharicus's corpse and cut a few flesh before hearing something break and turned around to see a a velociraptor, It was creeping up to me until he stepped into a branch that grabbed my attention.
I ran as fast as I can after I grabbed the meat that I peeled off in the sharicus's corpse. I ran for 2 hours before stopping to take a rest and realized that the raptor wasn't chasing me and was just trying to eat the corpse of the sharicus too.
After that I've been surviving this whole time, building traps, scavenging for leftover corpse, and hunting small animals just to survive until today.
I held the child in my hands and took a look at his face, it was surprisingly familiar, like he and I met a long time ago and were brothers for life and suddenly I was scared out of my wits when suddenly he woke up and shouted to me.
"HEY IMO!!!"
