Chapter 1 - What a dirty cheat!

When 'SoloMidKing96' died, it was on the worst day of his life. Not that the quality of the day you die on matters that much, after all, you would still be... dead. If you die on a good day, would you be more thrilled than to die on a horrible and miserable day?

When 'SoloMidKing96' died, it was the end of an era. A King, the very best and top Mid Laner in the MOBA 'Path to Heaven' for seven years in a row, was dethroned and publicly executed. During a live stream of an emulated solo RPG game that was over fifteen years old, the King opened an innocuous little cheat software that came pre-installed on his brand new premium gaming laptop to increase his EXP points and defeat a level boss. To the denizens of the Internet this became a source of controversy and scandal. It didn't matter that the game was a single player offline game with outcomes that wouldn't affect or harm anyone else, the Butthurt People and citizens of the King felt a professional shouldn't ever cheat and they threatened boycotts, signed petitions, raised torches and pitchforks and made DEMANDS, as these people are so often wont to do. They were loud. They were angry. They were the almighty 'helloitmenice's', 'deeznuts' and 'Igotubro's' of the digital world. Most likely they were just "your teenage cousin Kenny with the really bad acne". You know the one.

When 'SoloMidKing96' died, his Tank teammate and girlfriend dumped him on Twitter over a series of very long and public tweets that essentially called him selfish (He was), emotionally unavailable and callow (He was. He was only twenty three after all). It wasn't until she started mentioning his penis, or more specifically its size, that he responded and lashed back, which only made his situation turn from bad to worse and he was promptly fired from his team. His girlfriend, team manager and two other team mates all unanimously voted to kick him from the team.

When 'SoloMidKing96' died, it was when he was carrying his luggage and moving out of his team apartment. There was yelling. There was pettiness and returned gifts. And one very opportunistic mugger with a cheap switchblade. To a King who had fallen from grace, the one remaining bit of pride he still had left was his brand new premium gaming laptop that was mugged from within his very hands. Obviously he chased after his assailant. Very obviously still, he was stabbed to death.

At least he got his laptop back.

The first thing that Kiran Bei did when he opened his eyes in this world was to shed tears and cry. His tears weren't those of a new born babe greeting and announcing their arrival to the world and all of creation, but those of regret as he realised that he had died. When he really thought about it, perhaps he had been as selfish as his girlfriend had stated. After all, did the things that he valued really matter all that much? That new laptop that had been the cause and source of his misery and eventual death, for example. Had he used the money spent on it to take his girlfriend on a vacation or bought her some flowers more often, instead of getting himself another luxury electronic appliance he didn't really need or use (Are you doing well Fitbit? I'm doing fine), would he still be in this same situation? If he had been closer with his teammates, instead of being arrogant, distant and conceited with them, would they still have voted him off the team? He had regrets, but alas, there is no medicine yet invented for them.

Perhaps due to his unstable emotions, it took Kiran a while to realise and notice a few important details about his present situation. Three striking details stood out to him in particular. Firstly, if he really was dead, where was he? Heaven, Hell or Earth? The location or room that he was currently in looked like a luxury hotel room, but with Electrocardiographic equipment and Syringe drivers beside him on the left side of the King size bed that he currently lay on. However, the ivory white leather upholstery and marbled tile floors and bright white fluorescent lighting were too opulent for this to be any ordinary hospital either. And that daytime skyline visible from outside the floor to ceiling windows resembled a tightly packed central business district in a metropolitan city, an unusual vista for a standard hospital as they would normally need more space.

Secondly, who the hell was Kiran Bei? That definitely wasn't his name, but oddly he couldn't recall his real name from before he died. And there were these vague and hazy remnants of memories rattling around out of order and sequence in his head that didn't belong to him, but seemed familiar at the same time. As he focused on the memories to try to put them in order and try to make sense of them, he found himself becoming even more perplexed and confused. Where was this world of "Pulsar" that he'd found himself in, this "Brightglory Capital City" of the "Imperial Kingdom of Rhodes"?

From what he could gather, there was not much difference from this world and his old home town, Earth. The level of Technological and Sociological sciences was just about the same except that this world was much larger than home and that they had a few martial art families and clans. To be specific, these were cultivator clans. An example of this would be the Imperial family, one of the nine most powerful cultivator clans in the Imperial Kingdom of Rhodes. Another example would be the Bei Clan, standing unassailably amongst the top four clans in the Imperial Kingdom. The stronger the cultivator, the more impressive and law defy they would be, from soaring through the air, running on water and even collapsing entire city blocks with but a mere wave of a hand.

Lastly, and this was perhaps the most crucial, the third detail. Why was there a floating heads up display of that all too familiar cheat software hovering slightly to his left and in front of him?! It just had to be that damnable and dirty cheat.
