Chapter 251 - The Other Soul (3)

Hmmm… So her memories must've stopped by that instance and the rest were all Inna's.

Interesting…

But was she aware of the Soulless state as well?

Inna had once said she switched to it while fighting the Golden Bear. But did it ever occur way before? What if it was present ever since they were young?

That could be a valuable piece of information for his research!

"Have you ever experienced an instance where your body feels cold, your emotions and thoughts kind of just... disappears, and your body starts to move on its own?!"

Solomon asked eagerly. Too eagerly, in fact, that it made Ingrid look at him weirdly

"What are you talking about?"

Solomon didn't know how to describe it well because he never experienced it firsthand. All he could do was rely on the descriptions Inna gave him back then.

"Uhh… its when your body suddenly starts moving on its own. Like, you suddenly become good at fighting and such."

Ingrid scowled at his statement as she replied with confidence in her tone.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I've always been good at fighting."

Solomon was not left utterly confused and he couldn't help but caress the book on his table out of habit.

"Okay then…"

He trailed off as his mind began to spin in confusion.

He didn't know what else to ask.

No, it was more like, he was too afraid to ask anymore. He didn't want to ask questions that would lead to even greater questions he couldn't give answers for. He's almost reaching the limit to his patience.

Just one more confusing thing and he'd totally just explode in frustration.

Trying to calm himself down, he tried to think of questions that would ignite a bit of small talk among them. He needed Ingrid to feel as though she was safe with him so small talk was probably the best possible way to make her feel comfortable.

"So, how do you feel right now? Any throbbing in your head? Body aches? Discomfort?"

Ingrid narrowed her eyes at the weird question.

Was he trying to… get information about her current state so as to use it against her later on?

"I am fine."

She lied as she looked away from Solomon's concerned gaze.

She was far from okay, mentally and emotionally. She hated recalling her mother. She hated recalling those memories. And most of all, she hated seeing Iris, even if it was just in her dreams.

And those treacherous boytoys, Jul and Ram!

If she ever finds them again, beating them up once wouldn't be enough for her!

She'd have to beat them up until they're half-dead, slash their ankles open, and make them crawl back to their homes bleeding and bruised!

When she returns to Tarnil… They better watch out…

A sharp sound of a clap snapped Ingrid out of her thoughts. She looked at Solomon in surprise and she blinked furiously.

"I guess that means you're not fine then?"

Solomon chuckled lightly. The girl obviously had something weighing on her mind.

But knowing that she still didn't trust him, Solomon could only smile sadly at that fact.

"I'm not saying this to gain something out of you or to use it against you, which is what you're most definitely thinking, but, if you ever feel like talking to someone, I'm here okay? It's not easy waking up in a different place that is entirely foreign. After all, not many adventurers would dare cross from Edseria to Anemoly much less enter my Academy. So, wouldn't it be better to have someone to rely on in this unfamiliar place? And who better to rely on than me, Solomon Bertrand, one of the strongest triple magic-user of Anemoly and the Headmaster of the great Eldora Academy!"

Ingrid stiffened when he heard his statement.

Eldora Academy? She was in… Eldora Academy?

The academy of geniuses that was told to fulfill dreams of every kind?

The academy that would take in anyone without discrimination?

That academy that can make somebody out of a nobody?

How did she never realize where she was?!

Solomon Bertrand was his name, wasn't it?

So, it wasn't Solman then…

She didn't know that he was the headmaster!

Well, she must've been too frightened and cautious back then that she was able to process much of what they told her.

Still… the Bertrand Family…

As far as she could recall, they were a noble family, in a sense but their family was deemed insignificant in the social standing of Anemoly.

An empty noble title, that's what the people all used to say.

They were given the title of nobility mainly because the previous Head of the Bertrand Family was the Sage's closest friend. And because of the Head's refusal to marry, there was no heir to pass on that title hence, most nobles didn't treat them as nobility. Not even the nobles from Edseria.

After all, there was nothing in it for them if they establish connections with a dying family.

But that soon changed when the Head suddenly acquired a child one day. That child was known to be just an abandoned orphan that was taken in by the kind Bertrand family. But instead of taking him in as a servant, the Head treated him as his son and declared him to be the next heir of the family.

That news shocked the whole nation so much it reached the ears of Edseria and he became known to be the Noble Jester of Anemoly.

The people thought he was finally going crazy, handing down such inheritance to just a lowly commoner orphan he found on the streets. But to think that boy soon became one of the most feared magic-users in both of Anemoly and of Edseria.

His success was the talk of every person, rich or poor, for decades. But who wouldn't be amazed by a man who had nothing suddenly becoming such a heavily praised idol?

His life story was every commoner's dream, to say the least. And so, he was secretly seen as the commoner's hope and thus was heavily respected even in Edseria.

And to think that the one who brought prosperity to that name, Bertrand, was the man standing before her, offering his help.
