Hel Halja? What the fuck is that? Latin?
"Why don't you know?"
Mei looked at her strangely again. She can't understand why Inna doesn't know such a simple thing.
Inna didn't seem to notice the look on Mei's face as she shrugged nonchalantly.
"Well, I never visited here. It's my first time. So, you can't blame me for not knowing."
Mei furrowed her brows at Inna's reply.
"It would be strange if you visited twice."
She muttered low enough for Inna not to hear.
Meanwhile, Inna took Mei's silence as a bad thing so she somehow felt the need to apologize.
"Sorry, I don't know much about this world. You might not believe me but...."
Inna contemplated for a while before deciding to just let the truth out.
The kid seems harmless and besides, it would be a good thing for her to have a friend in this new world.
"I'm actually from a different world."
Inna blurted out but after realizing how crazy she sounded like out loud, she winced and decided to talk in a hushed tone instead.
"I'm from this planet we call Earth. And I was sent here through a reincarnation portal."
Inna whispered, looking very serious at Mei.
And after digesting Inna's words, the child tried very hard not to laugh. She looked at Inna like she was stupid but she kept her mouth sealed and silent.
"Help me out here. I feel like I've been reincarnated to this world for a purpose."
Inna kept her serious expression, looking at the child with utmost sincerity as she pleaded.
"I won't do any harm, I promise."
Mei can't keep it any longer. She laughed and laughed until she can't even breathe right.
Faced with such a reaction despite her seriousness, Inna couldn't help but feel greatly insulted.
"Hey! I'm telling you the truth!"
She just told the kid her biggest secret and the kid had the nerve to actually laugh?!
Mei took a few more seconds before she was able to finally compose herself. She continued to face forward, following the motion of the queue as she exhaled, ending her laughter.
"Haaaaaaaahh... That was a good laugh. I never expect I'd be able to laugh in my current predicament."
Inna didn't seem to understand the hidden meaning in her words nor the reason for her reaction.
"What's so funny?! I'm being serious here! I really got reincarnated!"
Hearing Inna's words, Mei released a few giggles again.
"If you reincarnated, then I did too."
Then when the line stopped moving, she looked back at Inna with a small knowing smile.
"Inna, let me ask you. What do I look like?"
Inna was confused by her question.
"Uhm, a kid?"
"I see… so what do you think my age is?"
"11? Or maybe 12?"
"Well, actually, if you combine those numbers, that's my real age."
Inna took a few moments before her eyes bulged.
"What?! 23? That's another level of baby-face! Wow, you're short as fuck."
Mei didn't seem to take offense in Inna's honest reactions as she shook her head.
"I didn't say add them together. I said 'combine'."
Inna furrowed her brows deeper as she felt more confused than she's ever been.
Huh? Isn't that the same shit?
Then, suddenly, Mei spoke in a soft voice.
"My real age is 1112."
BOOM! Hearing the answer, Inna's mind stopped working
Dafuq is 1112? She's kidding, right?
"People in my country live longer the stronger they are. And for those who were one of the strongest, they will stop physically growing depending on when their strength is at their peak. The faster you reach your peak, the more likely your lifespan would be longer. Hence, my limit is 1112 yet I stayed in this appearance all my life."
Mei smiled at Inna but instead of a child smiling at her, Inna saw that her smile was similar to how wise old women smile, full of wisdom and understanding.
With the shocking new piece of information, Inna took a longer time digesting it.
Well, until she pinpointed on one detail that seemed very strange.
"Wait, you said your limit is 1112?"
"Yes."
"So you're saying..."
Inna didn't want to finish the thought.
"Yes."
She smiled dimly and a hint of sadness appeared in her expression before quickly disappearing.
"Inna, you didn't reincarnate…"
The child said slowly while she looked away, trying to follow the queue that recently started to move.
"… you died."
