Chapter 1 - An Unlucky Case

A car was driving through the night where only a few lamp posts were seen in the desolate area. The vehicle slowed down and stopped at the stop sign. Once the woman saw it was safe to drive, who would have known that once she was about to finish crossing the street, a blinding light slammed into the small vehicle. In less than a second, the woman saw her very own life flash before her eyes. Time slowed as the woman felt her body lift into the air. Shards of broken glass floating along with her body and scratching her soft skin as blood flowed into the air.

Is this how I die? She questioned in her mind. Her dreams, her ambitions, her hard work. All gone. Time sped up again as the small vehicle containing the woman continuously rolled over and finally skidded to a stop.

An injured man exited a huge truck. Through his blurred vision, he saw the battered vehicle he crashed into as well as a young woman who was laying half-way on the hood of her car. "Shit!" The man cried out. Taking out his phone and calling the emergency station. The dark night was lighted by flashing red and blue hues as loud sirens accompanied the scene.

A middle-aged man in a grey suit entered a cold office, asking, "What's the case here?". A young man stood up and replied, "Sir. Another car accident this month. A fatigued truck driver. No drugs nor alcohol were found in his system." The grey-suited man wrinkled his brows. "I see. And what of the victim? Have you contacted her relatives?"

The young man faltered, as pity flashed through his eyes for a bit. However, that did not last long and he replied, "No, sir. The victim whose name is Hua Seraph, has no known relatives and her parents died in a plane crash. Apparently, she recently acquired a scholarship to Peking University in Beijing. The University and the Orphanage were contacted about the matter."

"I see. How unfortunate. A young genius I presume. Dying tragically like her parents before having a taste of life. Let's give our respects in our hearts and hope she has better luck in her next life." The grey-suited man expressed with a slight glint in his eyes. We shall meet again little fire.
