Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Today Is the Start of Spring

As Mythos had predicted, a full moon would show up tonight and the curse that had weaken the villagers for so many years would be broken.

But of course, the unraveling of the curse had to do a lot with the golden medallion the boy brought out. The old man stared at the medallion in the boy's tiny hand more intensely until he suddenly jolted.

"That symbol... and that intent..."

Suddenly, a gentle voice woke him from his shock. "Senior, this is Springfield Village, correct?"

"Y-Yes."

"A man told me to come here. He said that as long as I show you this, then all of you will do whatever I want, yes?"

"Do what you say?" The villagers had a complex look on their faces.

Do what a child command you to do? Each of the villager were incredibly powerful figures that could shake countries and destroy civilizations. If allowed to roam freely, they could cause the world to erupt into flame.

Although the child had a major part in unsealing their cultivation base because of the medallion, they had been sealed for too long.

The old man looked at the child and said, "I apologize, child. We can't do what you want. However, as gratitude for helping us, we can all agree to grant you one wish"

He looked back at the other villagers and they all nodded. "Tell us want you want and we can all accomplish it. No matter what it is."

Everyone nodded. With the villagers' combined powers that could shake the earth and topple the sky, what can't they do? Especially for a child.

"One wish?" The child asked.

"Yes."

"One wish... in that case I... " Under the howling wind, the voice of the child was muffled. However, everyone in the village heard him and they all stared in shock.

Even the old man was shocked.

"Are you sure?"

The child nodded his head.

Today, another year has passed once again. Today marked the 10081th year since the establishment of Grand Yue Dynasty. In every states' capital city controlled by the dynasty and even including the imperial city, festivals and parades lit up the streets.

However, unbeknownst to the citizens, the winds of chaos and troubled times were blowing with much more ferocity than ever before today as well. And it all started from the State of Green Water.

Spring was the season of growth and often represented a period of birth and the beginning of new life.

Today, with the appearance of a new full moon that represent the arrival of a new year, spring had once again showed up.

...

Seven years had passed since the boy arrived at the village.

On the outskirts of State of Green Water, many merchant carriages and carts were all travelling the same path. This path lead to a nearby village that had started to gain popularity in the recent years, Springfield Village.

Seven years ago, Springfield Village was known in the local region as a rather average, even slightly poor, farming village. The village was always peaceful and very quiet with the occasional yelling between villagers every now and then.

Some people regarded such a village as a place for peace and relaxation. However, anyone besides the villagers who had lived in the village for all their life would immediately leave the day of. No one was sure as to what these people who tired to move in saw or experience, but they wouldn't speak of it.

Rumors began to spread about the village being cursed by demons and ghosts. It also didn't help that the villagers didn't join in any of the celebrations or annual festivals that was held in the local region. Springfield was considered to be a cursed village with possessed villagers so very few had ever entered or even arrived at the doorsteps of the village.

However, this all changed when seven years ago, on the 10081th year of the Grand Yue calendar when the village open up.

Buildings in the village were remodeled and built, agricultural business were booming, and villagers became more open and friendlier. Moreover, it was discovered that the village was able to produce silk.

In this world where cultivators and exorcists existed and roamed about, ordinary silk didn't mean much, but to mortals, silk was considered to be the one of the highest form of luxury and the village was packed full of it since they were able to export thousands of kilos of silk every year!

More rumors had gone around that the village's new attitude to the world had to a lot with the great quantity of silk they possessed. Some say that the village was hiding the fact that they could produce silk all along to spend some time to produce a vast amount before they would sell it.

Either way, rumors were just rumors and no cared too much. Merchants from all around the outskirts of the State of Green Water, and even those that had headquarters in major cities, would spend time to travel to this mysterious village and buy their silk.

There were so much travelers and merchants coming by everyday that the village built a inn for these people to accommodate for the time they stayed. It was called Enryu's Inn.

...

In a secret location outside of Enryu's Inn, a lone figure was leaning down on a tall willow tree while reading a book.

The figure was that of boy around fifteen years of age. He wore a white, scholarly silk attire that contrasted with his dark hair, eyes, and shoes. His face wasn't particularly eye-catching, but his overall appearance would have anyone believe that he was a young scholar from a noble family.

At this moment, a young lady, who appeared to be in her twenties, was walking toward this young man. She was tall and donned a luxurious black silk robe that was decorated in red ribbons. She was extremely enchanting with her long, black silk-like hair, ruby-like eyes, and blood-red lips.

She was as beautiful as any immortal fairies from legend and graceful as any royal from a divine kingdom. However, the moment she stood next to the young man, she clasped her hand and bowed slightly.

"Young master," The young lady said with her gentle, enchanting voice.

The young man closed his book and looked at the young lady in her eyes. "Hey there, Sister Butterfly. Is it almost time for the ceremony?"

He placed the book down onto the ground. On the book were three words: [Demonic Vessel Awakening]!
