Chapter 33: Overtech Dragon
Rudolf Azregon
I thought I have assured my win over the Black Phantom. But I've never been so wrong.
I succeeded on taking down Arcadians and his Futuretech Dragon with the Voice of the Emperor, but this magic of mine has currently no effect on this 'awakened' Black Phantom. His left eye's pupil is colored red, yet his sclera is dark as the night. He kinda reminds me of Amphere. Back in the Elimination Round, both of Amphere's eyes turned the same.
Maybe they are related in some sort.
The masquerade leaped forward, completely ignoring the ten-meter distance in altitude, but he managed to land in Kyrie's head. No one has ever leaped like that before! He seemed like he was flying like a super hero!
Now all his fears are gone, I can completely tell it. His eyes are full of enthusiasm in this battle. Great. I quite enjoy fighting him too. He unsheathed his golden photon saber and thrusts forward with a golden streak! It was so fast that I was caught off-guard and got in a direct hit to the chest! My Shield Plate is down to 3%!
I answered with a heavy swing right to his left arm! But he waltzed away to avoid being grazed. I highly doubt that this guy has a remaining Shield Plate at all. I am sure I have delivered direct hits long before I used my Voice of the Emperor.
Just after a split second after we separated swords, he immediately surged forward and unleashed hundreds of glowing thrusts! This made my Shield Plate go down at zero, and not only that, I got stabbed to my right arm and leg, and left shoulder! He managed to slash my stomach at the end of my combo. Thanks for the thick steel armor I'm wearing; all my wounds are not that deep.
"FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" I unleashed the Voice of the Emperor once more, directly to his face. The shockwave made me back down a little to my Chaos Dragon's back. But the Neo Black Phantom… He remained standing stiff on the forehead of my Kyrie. Now, my Voice of the Emperor's effect is just the same as a simple gust of wind in this enemy. He's not affected at all.
Just who is this guy?
Kyrie decided to crash her head to a building, in order to shake off the masquerade away from her face. Windows and debris flew everywhere, but the Black Phantom managed to jump away before he gets sandwiched. He ran upwards on the side of the building, completely ignoring the laws of gravity. His flexibility is superb!
Once he reached the rooftop, his chest glowed bright and shouted.
"Overloading Vesryn Pulse!"
There was a huge bang and a dazzling flash of light.
It took five whole seconds for the surroundings to return to its original contrast. As I opened my eyes, the true meaning of terror colonized my spine. All the unconscious Arcadian Dragonoids that I took down in a single shout was no more. And I'm certain that the abomination in front of me is the cause.
There was a giant cybernetic orb, maybe about ten meters in diameter. Because of its holes, you can easily mistake it as a giant futuristic soccer ball. There is a glowing photon core on the inside. Pulsing, pulsing. Like a real fauna's heart.
Suddenly, drones…or dynamos in a shape of a dragon's head came out from the holes. They all look like floating Futuretech Dragon's heads, but their eyes are crimson red and their sclera are black. There are about thirty of them that surrounded the gigantic cybernetic core.
The Black Phantom stood proudly on top of the core, and then proclaimed his win in this fight. "Fear the power of my Overtech Dragon, Rudolf!"
It sounds cool, but kinda a corny name. Anyway, I have to get away fast! Kyrie kicked through the air to accelerate her flight! I used my Chaos Aura to remove wind resistance and friction to make her flight a lot quicker than normal. I should've been at the same speed as any Futuretech Dragon can be, but it's not enough!
Dragon-head dynamos blew out photon beams that are on par in the speed of light! Aside from that, I know that dynamos have target lock precision sights and can forecast enemy movements! There's nothing that can evade its attacks in existence!
Lasers ripped out Kyrie's wings, which made us make an emergency landing to another building. I cancelled out the Vesryn Pulse for Kyrie to rest, at least for minutes. We're no match with this Overtech Dragon monster. I get this feeling that he's just avoiding to kill me and Kyrie. He didn't aim for me, or Kyrie's head. He just destroyed my Chaos Dragon's wings.
There was a thought that I don't want to acknowledge. I suspect this guy as Amphere Harrison. They have the same way of fighting, same dragon, and same hidden power. This guy has the very same power as Amphere. He can overload the Vesryn Pulse and fuse all dragons in his arsenal at will. And lastly…He didn't want to kill us.
He glared at me on the top, saying quietly that "I will never kill you." Then he turned away. Apparently, backup is here. The police force and the military are my allies. They started firing bullets to the floating abomination but the giant soccer ball shoots nano lasers that destroys any incoming projectiles that targets it.
The Overtech Dragon and the Black Phantom refused to go offensive on small fries. They are just there to get as much attention as possible. There are three dragon knights who activated their Vesryn Pulse to summon Fire, Ice, and Wind Dragons and used long ranged attacks in fear of what the monster dragon can do, but long range attacks won't work on it.
I didn't have the remaining strength to keep battling. I sat beside Kyrie who was heavily panting and enjoyed the view of the night lights of this city. We're now about a quarter kilometers away from the facility. I wonder of Reina and Kyle are alright? Even if I came to their rescue, there's nothing much I can do. My right shoulder feels dislocated, and since I'm a right handed person, I cannot wield my sword without hurting myself.
Suddenly, a seven-meter long white dragon broke out from the facility. It is a flying snake with small pair of claws and feet. It very much gets the image of a traditional Chinese Dragon, except that its scales are sparkling like diamonds. It has the head of a crocodile, with two long dancing whiskers. There are four rings of light that follows it wherever it goes. It is a Portal Dragon.
"Rudolf, come here and regroup." Kyle said through my earpiece. Hearing his voice makes me glad that he's safe.
There was a giant ring of light that surrounded the Overtech Dragon. The Black Phantom gazed back to me and then smiled. I smiled in response. There was an invisible bond between us, I can tell. But not our ideals. Our ideals are always at conflict.
There was a huge flash of light once again.
And then all Arcadians, and the Black Phantom's shadows are gone. Just like what happened in our last clash. Last time he fled because he's in a disadvantage. But this time, he fled to let me go.
I regrouped with Kyle and Reina who was still in the facility. No trace of Hyperion Company's dragonoids was left there. Arcadia completely kidnapped all their test subjects. Aside from the injuries the guards took from collapsing debris and shattered glass, there were no casualty. Arcadia does their terrorism clean after all.
Kyle was being healed by his dragonoid Elumina, who is still drenched by her own tears. Kyle didn't suffer any fatal injury, but he suffered from mental injury when the Arcadia's Leader fled easily from his grasps. He seems pissed more at Elumina than Estoff. I feel like Elumina is the source of their fight after all.
"You stuck-up bitch!" Kyle immediately slapped Elumina out of frustration! Elumina fell on the ground and continue to cry wordlessly.
Kyle is about to unsheathe his sword but then I held his wrist, telling him to stop. Kyle didn't struggle or fight back. He just turned away and walked grimly and mad, leaving his dragonoid behind.
Sigh. Both the Chevalier Unit and Arcadia have good and bad sides. I'm just glad that Amphere already chose one and straightened his resolve. Because I still don't know if I wanted to change sides or not.
