Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Leaving

Finley and his master repeated the same torture process every couple of weeks for 3 years. Finley awoke his Demon Tyrant Body on the third month of torture and his master had to start putting effort into slashing into Finley's body. Originally his master was using 10 percent of his strength but now he had o use thirty to slash and pierce Finley's body. That wasn't the only thing that changed with Finley, He now was a Stage 3 Middle cultivator.

In the three years his master and him were together Finley had grown about half a foot taller making him a little taller than 2 meters. Due to the torture Finley went through he no longer had the childish innocence he had before he came here, his facial features were sharper and his eyes were like an eagles. He had scars everywhere on his body due to the torture his master made him go through, the only place with out scars would be his head and neck. He usually wore long sleeved robes so that none of his scars would show. Although he had almost no human contact for three years he still felt uncomfortable with his scars showing.

While he was "training" with his master he didn't waste time in between each session. He would train with his preferred weapon which was a rare choice due to the small amount of techniques it has, A Great Hammer, Which was a little shorter than Finley but the head of the hammer was about the size of a Watermelon. He could swing it about as fast as a cultivator would swing a sword, the only reason he could due this was because of the Demon Tyrant Body. Because of it his strength soared to about 5000 pounds, A normal cultivators strength at stage 3 would be at least 3000, so he had a 2000 pound strength boost than most people.

After the third year of being in the enclosed space Finley brought up the matter of leaving with his master.

"Master, When can I leave to see the outside again?"

When Finley said that he wanted to leave his master was very much against it. His master and him grew close enough to where Finley could call him father if he wanted to. Finley persisted that he actually leave and that his master didn't hinder him but his master denied him access to leave.

"Come on master, you know that I will have to eventually need to leave to see the outside world, right."

"Yes I do, but do know the requirements I set for leaving this place?"

"Requirements? What requirements?"

"Simple, if anyone ever wanted to leave here they would have to kill me."

This one sentence struck Finley to his core. He din't want to kill his master but he wanted to leave badly so that he could go and explore the outside world he hadn't seen for three years.

"Isn't there anyway around this master?"

"No, you must kill me if you want to leave this place."

"Why!? I don't want to kill you! You cared for me for three years! You helped me gain a cultivation base! So Why?"

"Because the outside world is full of dangers so you need to be ready for sudden betrayals of close friends and family."

"I'm not killing you so i'm staying here."

"It's not like I want to keep you here it's just that you have to be prepared."

His master was lying to him and he knew it. His master wanted for someone close to him to kill him so he may die in peace, knowing he was killed by someone who cared for him. But Finley didn't want that.

Finley quickly turned around and went into his room and started to sleep.

Morning came and Finely went to his masters room to look for him to train his body with but the scene before was horrifying. Finley froze and looked at his masers corpse lying in a pool of blood. A letter was next his body. Finley opened the letter and read the contents.

'My dear boy, although I know this will make you sad and cry. Don't. Steel your heart and march out into the world like a proud man would. Your cultivation has roach Stage Three Middle in a short three years so you have quite a talent in cultivating. Don't forget me and live one. I never told you my name so now you may know. I was known as the Supreme sky sage back in my day. -Master'

The letter told him how to leave on the back and what he should do next. Finley took his masters corpse and dug a grave for him in the courtyard of the house. He left without sparing another look and walked through the gate that was now open in the house.

When Finley walked out of the gate a huge city appeared in his view. There was a line so he walked towards the back and waited his turn. He walked to the gate and was stopped by the guards.

"Stop! Pay the fee before entering Menguire Empire."

"I am Finley Porter, son of Duke Porter from the Regin Empire."

"Porter? The son of the duke that died a few years back?"

"That's me. Wait my father died?"

"What an audacious joke! You think they you can just show up here without any identity and just assume a new one? Not even knowing your own father died!"

"No, I really am Duke Porters son."

"Show me the Dukes Insignia then"

"Alright I'll show you."

He quickly took out a worn Insignia form his pocket and showed it to the guards. The guards paled as they looked at the youth in front of them. 'Could he really be the dead Dukes dead son?' The two immediately moved out of the way and showed a courteous expression since the insignia was shown.

He walked through the gate and headed towards Azure Dragon school. The best school in the entire empire, he did so because his master left an insignia that allowed him to become a Core student at the school immediately. Of course since he didn't know the way to the school he had to get someone else to guide him there. Apparently he was in luck and they were doing a student recruitment for the school.

'Guess i'll just do the normal recruitment and if I fail then i'll show them the Insignia.' Finley thought as he sighed. The recruitment was strict and was only selecting people under the age of twenty that were at least in the Third stage.

He arrived at the school gates and there hundreds of people waiting in a crowd for the gate to open.

"Everyone! I would to thank you all for coming to Azure dragon school for recruitment."

"I will be leading the exam and will be the judge."

A middle aged man walked out of the gate and said. He looked to be late in his late forties but had and air of dominance around him.

"What is the exam?"

A person in the crowd asked and hen murmuring began.

"The exam is simple. It will be a duel between two people. whoever wins will be able to get into the school but whoever loses can try again next year."

The man spoke. He pointed at a square platform in the middle of the crowd.

Finley's mouth moved into a grin and looked towards the platform...
