Nelson who had no last name was considered to be the weakest among the many reincarnations of the Strongest Mortal Soul. He was the reincarnation that came after Rei Kuraki who was considered to be the second only to the original incarnation when their soul was the weakest. He was also the one who had died the most peacefully.
Nelson was born in a world filled with war, in a dying country to boot. Nelson never knew who his parents were since they died in the neverending war, so he became an orphan before he could even walk. If that wasn't enough the orphanage he was placed in was destroyed once he was six years old.
