Chapter 23 - BIP Ch. 22: Absence

Melissa has been absent for awhile now.

It has been around a week since I saw her.

Is it because the class score came out this week.

These scores determine your future prospects. At least that's what I've been told as I took a nap most of first year. WHat you want to go to college? I was too lazy and couldn't be bothered.

I raised ranks mwahahaha

"Your rank went up twice, good job being the fifth from the bottom. Also you'd be bummed if you were last place or second from last place. Or maybe not previous second last place until Melissa joined our class."

"Anthony!"

I look up to see class rep holding two neat folders in his hand. He slowly walks toward me and personally hands me each file with a sticky note on each.

"Please bring this to Melissa and Adia. The year is almost finished and they need to finish these assignments for them to proceed to tenth grade."

"Who's Adia?"

"Adia Robinson. The student that rarely even shows up," Class rep answers patiently.

"The NEET?! Why me? Also, couldn't you have just sent them an email?" I grimace at the thought of missing primetime anime.

"Adia has everyone school related blocked. And Melissa is already considered part of your friend cliche. Good luck!" Alex proclaims as he swiftly runs away.

"He could have just blinked the papers wherever he wanted and yet he just wanted to touch your babysoft hands according to his inner monologue," Tom chuckled feeling amused by Aleksandr's blushing cheeks.

So we head out of the school and stop in our tracks.

"Where do either of them live?"

"..."

"..."

Thanks class rep. You are the most helpful, fantastical, unbelievable class rep.

While I'm laminating on my troubles, Lillian opens the folders and shows us a printed map to the neet's house. It's… next door to my house.

"What about Melissa?"

"I'll show you the way. We aren't that far just lots of side streets," Lillian explains.

As we weave through the crowd of people, we still bump into a bunch of people.

The usual pants are head. I'm certain you're as tired as I am by now. Truly, Tom don't give me that look. I'm in my gear. I'm fully wrapped up 3 layers worth and even if its fall, please know that it's still hot out. I feel so muggy ughhhh.

Soon, we arrived at the nearest hospital and Lily leads us to the front desk.

"Good evening, sir. We are here to visit a classmate. Are we in time for visiting hours?" Lillian turns on her 'I'm an Angel' mode.

"Yes, ma'am. There is only an hour left. May I have the patient's name?" the concierge replied.

"Her name is Melissa Lizano."

"And who may I be speaking to?"

"My name is Lillian Cho and I'm accompanied by Anthony D'Angelo and Thomas Greene."

"Okay, everything is processed. Here is the details to her ward and room number. Please take the elevators down the hall and on the right."

"Thank you," Lillian beamed.

'Have I mentioned that women are scary,' I thought. 'This is what I mean.'

'I know what you mean," Tom answered in my mind. 'It's better to just forget. Most women think with two faces. A public view and an internal persona. If it makes you feel better Lily shows her inner self to you all day.'

'No thanks.'

"Are you guys done with your conversation? The elevator is here."

Here we go. To Meet Melissa. At a Hospital.
