Lieutenant colonel Andrea Wright had been in the service for over 15 years. Enlisting when she was young, she had rose through the ranks quickly. Acquitting herself in combat situations with both valor and honor. A brilliant strategist, her advice and tactical know how are sought by her superiors on a frequent basis. Duty, honor, country, these are etched on her soul.
Relationships are something she has difficulty with. Being a woman in a predominantly male field of combat and war she has seen her fair share of sexism and abuse.
She has learned not to trust men. She will work with them. She will lead them into combat, but that is all. She has yet to meet a man she can truly trust with her heart.
It was the end of a somewhat grueling assignment. She and her aide were finishing up.her aide went out and came back with coffee "Thanks Jack" she said. " you're welcome Colonel" said the lieutenant.
She drank the coffee, while still working diligently. She suddenly felt very tired, weary and sensed numbness in her extremities. Her head became heavy and she slumped forward. Though unable to move she was aware of her surroundings.
She saw her subordinate come into her view, "Sorry Colonel, but the money the other side is offering me is just to good" he smiled at her with a devilish grin.
He went over to the main computer and activated the self destruct sequence for this room. These documents were too sensitive to fall int the wrong hands so measures were put in place to protect them at all costs.
When he finished he place two computer hard drives into his briefcase and was preparing to leave.
Hen he tried the door he found it locked. He started to panic. Tried to force open the door. But he couldn't. He went back to the computer and tried to disable the count down but could not. He looked at Andrea with fear in his eyes, she looked back at him. Though she couldn't speak the corners of her mouth turned ever so slightly upward.
Burn in hell you bastard. She thought. At least I'm taking you with me.
