Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Standing against the wall, still tired I watch as Master Zelen examines me. Standing back up, he walks over to me, staring into my eyes.

"Your eyes changed colors Wolf, that's never happened before to someone when their familiar evolves." Zelen whispered, watching my eyes. "They changed from a kind of light brown to a scarlet red." He said, shocked.

"I feel better at least, still in pain but not as bad, its bearable." I say, feeling like my insides were burning. Sliding down the wall, I sit on the cold stone floor.

"You will be fine Wolf, you just need to rest. Night is a powerful dragon so its taking a lot out of you, I don't think Night thought he would need to evolve so soon." Master Zelen said, walking back to his chair, sitting down and opening a drawer, pulling out a book. Looking at the cover I gasp. *Max's grimoire* I wonder to myself, feeling somehow familiar with the name.

"Here Wolf, take this and practice the fire spells in it every night before you fall asleep until you're so exahusted that you can't keep your eyes open. This should help you not burn everything, Night should calm down as well if you use his energy too." Zelen said, casting a spell over the book and then handing it to me. I reach for it but hesitate.

"Don't worry, I cast a spell so it wont burn into ashes." He said, smiling kindly. "I was saving this book for someone as an request, but I think that someone is you. If you can master this book by the time you graduate then you will probably be the most powerful student that has ever graced this school." Shocked I grab the book, feeling energy radiate from out of the leather cover, somehow I could feel it was calming my raging power inside of me.

"Why would you give me such a precious object?" I asked, feeling unworthy. Just something about holding this book made me feel at home, it felt like it belonged with me, I could hear random words being whispered, trying to give me power.

"Do you hear that? Master Zelen the book! It talks?!" I asked, shaken. I didn't know anything like this was ever possible.

"This book was given to me by a special friend, they said for me to keep it safe for someone who would be coming here in the future and would need it more then they would. This book is very powerful and was made by a very good friend of mine. He is probably the most powerful mage in our worlds history." Master Zelen said, laughing as he watched my face.

"Why would you give this to me?" I ask. I don't deserve this gift. Master Zelen sighed and got up.

"Follow me." He said. Struggling to stand up, clutching the grimoire to my chest, I follow him. He went to the wall behind his desk and pushed one of the stones. Hearing the wall rumble I stumble back, almost falling over. What was on the other side of the wall shocked me.
