Chapter 5 - Naive

'Little girl hurry up'

"You know I never asked this but why and where are we hurrying?" I said.

'To the orphanage to help, of course' Lance spoke in my mind.

"What you never told me about this, that place is creepy"

'You said you would help me, it's your fault for not asking and being to trusting.'

Lance is right when did I become this trusting of strangers. I can't do anything anymore, as the contract is binding, I might as well try doing my best.

I ran on the moss through the forest towards the orphanage, as I remember the weird mind set I was in when I entered. Only thinking about I gave me the chills. I begin to see the exit of the forest when I pass the beautiful scenery of flowers and butterflies..

I pass the last trees and see the red stone building that is supposed to be an orphanage.

'Stop you'll be completely visible if you just run straight.' Lance shouted in my head.

"Then what should I do?"

'I'm going to use some of your rune energy, to make us invisible.' Lance explains to me. 'Ready, you can go.'

I look at my had that really turned invisible, I start running across the field.

"This rune-energy sure is convenient" I comment.

Orphanage the same red color and the rests my escape still fresh with glass and footprints all overt the ground. I wonder how long I was in the forest.

About two hours' Lance answers.

Surprised, " It felt like a week"

'Little girl, don't get distracted, we need to get inside the building'

I feel a little guilty for not concentrating I look at the broken window on the second floor.

"So, I need to just bring you inside the orphanage?" I ask Lance.

'What are you talking about we are going in there, are you just going to leave me there as a gift or something?'

"But" I said.

'I can't move on my own, I'm a sword now it can't be changed.'

"Okay then, here we go then" I sigh, as I look at the broken window. I grab a crevice in the wall as I begin to climb towards the window.

'Good now that we are inside we need to get to the basement, I know to way so follow my direction.' Lance said in my head.

I walk as silently as possible through the corridors on my toes, door after door passes by in a never ending maze of corridors. Why can't magic erase sound, when it can make you invisible.

'If you can hold your breath then I can do it. You see it is easy to reflect light and make it seem like you don't exist, but if you want to erase sound then I need to stop the flow of air around you and you wouldn't be able to breath'

That sure sounds complicated. Where should I turn next?

'Left, and then down the stairs to the right' Lance said

I can speak with you in my head, I think.

'Of course was it that hard to realize.'

'What!? no'

'I'm a sword I don't have any of the five senses, but now concentrate'

Slowly I descended the stair one step at a time. Even I try to be as quiet as possible, the stone walls around me makes the sound echo loudly in my ears. The stairs seems to continue downwards forever to dark abyss, I don't like it but I can't seam to go against the contract. I continue with an hand on the wall to guide me in the darkness. The before dry stone walls are now damp and the air nearly freezing cold. My fingertips feel like ice bits.

"Ah!"

I lost my balance an almost fell on my face. Where I thought there would have been another step down was now a flat surface. The pitch black abyss I thought I was descending towards was now lighten up by a pale but ice blue light. The sources of the pale blue light was a slimy icicles hanging from the sealing. The pale blue light becomes stronger as I continue forward. I see a opening ahead of me, I peek inside only to find an empty room. I wonder why, but somehow this room reminds me of something.

This empty room, I'm sure I have heard something about empty rooms. I think master told me some thing about, never entering suspicious empty rooms. It was something about traps. I look around me not finding anything useful. I don't have any other choice.

'Off you go' I throw my sword.

'Oj! what the hell are you doing what if I break?!'

'Good, there doesn't seem to be any traps.'

'I protest!!!' The sword said something as i pick it up.

"What are you doing down here?" suddenly someone asks in a lifeless voice.

Surprised I turn around, only to see one of the children. "I'm here to help" I answer. The child looks at me a while, only to show to follow. I follow the child to a dead end. The child sweeps with his hand over the wall. Before my eyes I see the wall disappear, and a corridor was revealed. It seams to lead to what looks like outside. Maybe it's a escape route.

"I recommend going this way" The child says in a monotone voice, and points at the corridor.

'Little girl do not forget our promise.' Lances reminder lifts me from my suspicion.

"I'm sorry, I can't back down" I said to the child.

"That is unfortunate" The child says again with his monotone voice.

"What do you mean?" I try to ask, but the child turned his back to me and begun walking away.

'Don't worry about that, I'm sure Elaine has brainwashed them our something. Lance says.

'You know Elaine?'

'Of course I know she's behind everything'

'Are you sure, she doesn't have anyone behind her?'

'Don't worry to much, it's simple you just need to help me and then your free to do whatever you want.' Lance said.

I follow after the child to the empty room, but the before empty room had now a big opening to a corridor with many doors.

"Are you sure about your choice?" The child asks.

"I already told my answer." I say.

"The try your best with your task then." The child says and continues to walk.
