Morning came too quickly for Kyera, who smiled at the sleeping faces around her. Clovis and Raina snuggled up a perfect picture of father and daughter. Gale was on her chest, but those pure blue eyes met her own, awake. She chuckled.
"I guess someone didn't want to wake Mommy?" Kyera whispered as she ran her hand over his soft, fine hair and down to his back patting gently. Gale closed his eyes enjoying the attention of his mother, something he was unaccustomed to before this woman brought him into this new world. "Let's let the lazy bones rest. Shall we go to the alter?" Kyera whispered and slid out of bed, leaving the other two fast asleep. She set Gale in his cradle as she changed into a warm dress with a fur lining and chose a cute pair of leather overalls and cloth onesie. His warmest booties covering his precious toes, and mittens on his tiny hands. A blanket cast over Kyera's shoulder as she slipped out of the bed room.
The maids and servants were surprised to see Kyera up so early but greeted her all the same. One even invited her to breakfast but Kyera asked she take some up to her husband and daughter instead.
"Kyizey Wizey, do you have a moment for your Grandfather?" Bryson called her, his teasing, jovial voice was a welcome intrusion on their morning. Kyera chuckled as he called her the cutesy nickname and turned to him. Her smile simply glowed, Gale couldn't help but smile too. He liked this man. He played with him, but it was even better that he made Mommy laugh.
"Of course, Grandfather. How can I assist you?" Kyera asked turning to face him. His eyes lit up when he realized shes not alone.
"Oh it's my lucky day, my grand baby and my great grand baby." He smiled and ruffled little Gale's hair. The baby giggled and tried to grab his hand, but his motor control wasn't quite there yet. Bryson let the boy catch his pinky wich Gale did with a moment of triumphant glee, then realized he was acting like a baby. Then again… it was appropriate.
"What were you looking for me for, Grandfather?" Kyera asked after he finished teasing the child.
"OH, hmm? Yes; right. I have something I want to show you. Do you have time for a quick flight?" Bryson asked cutting his eyes back up to look at her. Kyera thought for a moment and nodded.
"I think so. I need to grab a flight sling, but I should be fine." Kyera agreed and handed Gale to Bryson. "I will meet you two outside." Kyera wandered off and Bryson went outside in the court yard where his own black dragon waited.
"Iric, hows My Wings?" He asked patting the dragons nose. Iric rolled his eyes and turned his attention to the small one whose intelligent little eyes fascinated him. The big golden eyes were fixated on Gale's steely blue ones. Unlike most children who seemed more interested in touch or taste to learn, this baby studied everything with his eyes.
"Are we going for a flight?" Iric asked realizing that the older man was in gear. The riding pants and the belted Cape a good indication of the older man's intention.
"Yes. It's time to take Kyera Home." Bryson replied. There was a soft sound, a clearing of a woman's throat. He turned around and his heart stopped.
For a split second, Bryson thought he was looking at a Ghost. Long white hair pulled into a ponytail, golden eyes and her shape… she looked so much like Fantasy. Then… there were her cheek bones, just slightly too high and her lips a little more plump adding to this woman's allure but… taking away from the resemblance.
"Akira." The name was a soft whisper. It had been years since he last saw her, and the years had changed her. The steely, devil may care forest Princess was somehow softer and less warrior like than he remembered. There was something else in her, an ice. Then again, his eyes darkened as he remembered what Kyera and Kendrick had told him.
"Yes… and apparently I should be calling you Father." Akira replied folding her arms over her chest. He could tell her eyes were not on him, they were focused on baby Gale who was nested in his arms.
"Yes… I suppose you should. Akira I loved your mother, I never wanted to let…" he began but she waved him off.
"The past is over. What matters is the future, like this little guy." Akira tried to scoop little Gale out of his arms her eyes bright with excitement. Bryson dodged slightly, avoiding her attempt. He remembered Kyera's issues with her mother. Gale was curious but as the woman touched him he was thrown off guard.
"Come now Bryson, let me hold my grandson while you mount up." Akira purred turning those bewitching eyes… so much like Fantasy on him. They were a weapon aimed at his softest place. To Gale it was familiar and he knew it to be deceptive. Great Grandpa couldn't possibly fall for it… right?
