The room was quiet, and all eyes were on Raina as she held her newborn sibling. So tiny. The child fit into her arms easily, it was hard to believe this child had come from her Mommy. Those sharp blue eyes looked up at her almost curiously. Raina smiled.
"Hello, Little Cub. I am your big sister Raina." She introduced herself despite mother having already done so. Raina giggled softly as Gale's little ear flicked as he heard her voice. There was a moment of confusion then a bright excitement on the child's face. He giggled and cooed at her waving his little fists best he could.
"He remembers your voice." Kyera supplied as her heart filled with warmth. This felt right. This is what she wanted her family to be like.
"Oh? Is that so little cub?" Raina asked teasingly. She kissed his ear, the soft white fluffy triangle flicked a few times as if batting a fly. "Does he have a tail too?" Raina asked curiously and Kyera nodded.
"Yes, he does and he will till he is about 4 or 5. Shifter babies can't hide their ears or tail in the beginning." Kyera explained as she used her fingers to guide Raina's dark bangs from her face.
"I see… then they go away?" Raina asked as she looked back at her Mom.
"Nope, they are just easy to hide." Kyera replied before closing her eyes. Two pure white ears with little silver tips folded out from under her hair. Raina's eyes lit up.
"Wow, baby brother can do that too?" Raina asked and Kyera chuckled.
"Eventually but it's up to you, me, and Daddy to protect him till them. We are counting on you, Raina." Kyera reminded her, wanting her to feel important in this family dynamic. It was important they were all one family, not two sharing the same father.
"I will be the bestest big sister ever." Raina replied firmly as she ran a hand over the baby's fine white hair. "He looks alot like Mommy, doesn't he?" Raina asked as she looked at the baby's pure white hair, and pale skin. Even his body structure was slender and sleek like Kyera.
"Well, he is a tiger baby girl. He will have a lot in common with me but those eyes and those little eyebrows are very much his father." Kyera reminded her with a gentle smirk. She was obviously trying to hide her pride that the baby looked more like her. Clovis however looked less enthusiastic about this topic of conversation.
"I think your both biased. It's obviously he takes after his Daddy. I am sleek and slender too, you know." Clovis replied a tinge of pouting in his voice.
"Dad, I look like you so it's only right baby looks like Mommy." Raina reasoned and hugged her little brother gently. The child was falling back to sleep while his Mother hummed gently and his sister held him, bored of all the chattering.
"True, so True and your the cutest princess ever." Clovis preened and kissed his daughter's forehead, the previous pouting gone.
"My Lady, Kyera I apologize for the intrusion but there are three people who refuse to leave till they see you." A maid offered a bit apologetics. Kyera sighed figuring she knew who it was. She sat up and smoothed her hair back.
"Its fine Fiona. Show them in." Kyera sighed deeply as she did so. She knew the 3 tigers outside had been uncharacteristically patient. The maid disappeared down the hallway while Clovis used a comb to brush his wife's hair back. Then, gently but expertly he split the strands in two and wove tiny sections over until he made an elegant fishtail braid.
"There, love." Clovis nodded in satisfaction as he used a black ribbon to tie the hair.
"Nicely done." Kyera complimented and he smiled.
"Thank Raina for being so picky as a child. I had to learn to do her hair or it would never have been done." Clovis kissed his daughter's head and sat back down behind his wife, letting her lean on him.
