Chapter 631 - Baby's Eyes

It was a shock at first, as he opened his eyes still screaming from the imminent doom he had been facing. The first thing he noticed was the warmth, fluid surrounding his body he felt safe.

A gentle voice spoke to him and massaged him through a thin barrier. It had taken a while for him to realize… he was a baby. That warm gentle voice was his mother… she sounded sweet and yet powerful. Magic swept through her system and into his occasionally leaving tingles in its wake. One thing was clear, Mother loved him. He couldn't wait to meet her. He had never had a mother before.

After a long time; listening to Mother and her heart beat as well as meeting the deeper and more masculine voice of father he had enjoyed growing safely. There were a few times Mother scared him. Her heart beat would become quick and she would move fast as if running from some unknown danger and all he wanted was to get bigger and protect Mother. Why wasn't father Protecting Mother? He wanted to know. Then things became calmer, but mother seemed uncomfortable. He felt bad, knowing it was partially because of him but the space was too small. He couldn't help but stretch as his tiny muscles cramped and grew into place.

Then… he had been born. The first thing he felt cold and uncomfortable… where had all the warmth gone? An older woman with joyful eyes began to wipe him with warmth. It felt nice compared to the cold air, but then the warmth was sucked away and the spot was even chillier than before. He screamed. His little baby lungs packed quite a punch, filling the room with his wailing cries.

Finally, the only one wrapped him in a blanket and the warmth began to return, but it was nothing like Mother. MOTHER. Where was she? This woman wasn't mother. He didn't know how he knew, but he felt it deep inside his little heart.

Then she handed him off to another pair of arms. He felt excited for a moment as he looked up and saw golden eyes like sunlight, but hair as pale as the softest moonbeams. He wanted to reach out and grasp the beams but could only shift his tiny arms. His cries instantly ceased. The warm smell and gentle aura swept over him and he knew. Mother. There was now a face to place with the name. The face of an angel.

Then she spoke, her voice tired but loving as she asked the strange lady to bring Clovis. He knew the name because mother had said it before. Unfortunately in the womb it was hard to tell what was said but easy to recognize voices. A light kiss to his brow soothed away his concern, who cared who Clovis was? Mother was the best. He decided as his little hands tried to touch her face and convey that sentiment to her.

The other person came, a voice asking Mother if she was okay. He knew that voice. It was father, blue eyes and a bright smile were new though. His features were so foreign but there was a gentleness to his big blue eyes. He decided he preferred mother's golden eyes instead. The warmth of mother was invading all of his senses. The baby boy found himself falling into a much needed sleep. There had been so much stress for his little soul in the last forty eight hours… was this his chance at redemption?
