Chapter 629 - Storm Born Part 2

"Our son. Our Son, that sounds so sweet to say aloud." Clovis whispered as if he was afraid to wake the child. He reached out a bit hesitant to pet the child's ears and then placed a kiss to his forehead. "Our Cub couldn't be more perfect. You are amazing, Kyera." Clovis told her as he met her golden eyes. He was a little surprised to see tears in them. He had to restrain the urge to panic. "Are you in pain? Is there anything I can do love?"

"No, no, not at all. I just… I'm emotional, love. Tired and emotional." Kyera replied as she wiped the tears from her eyes, or at least tried to. She only had the energy to half way commit to that action. Clovis didn't mind, he used two gentle thumbs to wipe the moisture from his wife's eyes.

"Then you should rest. I can look after our son and our daughter till you wake again." Clovis reassured her, kissing Kyera's forehead gently. She shook her head, her breathing still a bit labored from the ordeal. He hated how pale she was, it was a testament to the struggles she had been enduring inside the room. Her body was so weak, so tired that it was written on her face.

"No, We must give the baby a name, Clovis. Together, now, before I fall asleep. He will be a storm Prince, and a child of frost and forest. Too many demons would love to steal him, or at the very least his place. He must have a name so the fair folk can not touch him." Kyera replied seeming honestly concerned. There was no reason to suspect these old legends of changeling children were true, but at the same time, she could not take the chance. There were too many kinds of fairy and elf for there to be no truth to the fears of mothers past.

"Then we shall. I haven't really thought about it though, to tell you the truth, Love." Clovis admitted a bit sheepishly. Kyera chuckled and smiled at him.

"I was thinking Landon Gale." Kyeara replied a bit tentatively. Clovis looked at her in shock, he knew very well where the name was from and he felt a new appreciation for his wife as a prickle of regret appeared in his heart. His father would never know his son, but then again on some level he was glad that was the case. Clovis knew this was a selfish thought, but at the same time he worried what would have happened had his son was born in the same environment Raina had been. Now at least he would know a different way of life.

"You hated my father." Clovis decided to go the safe route and Kyera frowned. Perhaps this was not the safe route he intended.

"Clovis, I did not hate your father. I hated what his people did to us. I hated his closed mind, and his blindness but I did not hate the man. He loved you, and loved your mother. However he fell to a weakness every man has." Kyera replied as she rocked their son tenderly. The newborns eyes closed as he was soothed by his mother's motions.

"Oh?" Clovis asked honestly curious as to what his wife was getting at. Kyera met his eyes.

"Your father's weakness was complacency." Kyera replied and he looked a tad confused. There was a moment between them while he tried to sort his thoughts.

"What?" He asked honestly lost.

"He was so used to your mother taking care of things, that he forgot to be vigilant. He became complacent in their marriage and allowed another woman to enter his heart. Again, he was too trusting of his own judgment and allowed that other woman to distort the family he wanted. He couldn't see it because he didn't pay attention. Your father continued a war and hatred because he couldn't be bothered to try and learn anything new. He was complacent with his life, and lost the respect and love of his family." Kyera explained to him as she took his hand. Clovis stared at her as though she was something entirely new to him.

"You are a marvel, My Kitten." Clovis leaned in and gently kissed her forehead. "Alright, our son can be named Landon, but I want his first name to be Gale. Landon may be his formal name, but I prefer to call him Gale."

Kyera smiled weakly, her eyelids were getting heavy. He gently began massaging her head, ruffling her hair lightly as he did exactly what it took to knock her out. The baby was already fast asleep, and with Clovis there to protect them, she passed out.
