Chapter 511 - Family Dinner

The guards offloaded and began packing their kills, carefully labeling each chest by whose kill was within it. Kyera and the other Princesses were ushered inside for warm tea and hot soup to get their blood flowing again.

The Matriarch sat with them, chatting happily with these women as though they were her own children. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming enough that even Melania began to join in on the chatter. Feya tried to butter up Myra and endear herself, but the daughter of Frost was kind and allowed her to believe she was, indeed enjoying the conversation.

Finally, toward the end of the meal Bryson spoke up. "Kyera, we can leave at dawn with the Storm Twins here. Ember and Ivory can convince Thunder and Rain to help with the carriage, correct?" Bryson asked, not wanting to sound too demanding. Kyera thought for a moment and nodded.

"Ivory, Ember, and I had discussed this a bit. We should be fine to proceed as planned. My only concern is weight. I don't want to over burden them. " Kyera pointed out and the Matriarch nodded.

"This is true. The four of you, your guard, medicine woman, and perhaps Myra and Bryson should be fine, even with your lovely hunt." The Matriarch reasoned, her eyes taking in the size of each person at the table. Kyera nodded.

"Yes, Thunder and Ember can both carry us without a issue, with the girl's help it should be a breeze." Kyera agreed and Bryson nodded, having expected this answer.

"Are we riding dragon back the whole way?" Melania asked a bit shyly. She wasn't wanting to sound rude but after seeing how large the dragon's were… she was a bit concerned. Kyera smiled at her.

"I might but you won't be. We have a carriage that harnesses to the dragons on special saddle straps. It will feel no different than riding a horse drawn carriage." Kyera explained, reaching out to pat Melania's hand. "I told you before, we are family. I won't let anything happen to family." Kyera reminded her before labeling herself another bowl of soup.

Melania however seemed to be thinking over Kyera's words. This foreign concept slowly working its way into her head. She glanced over at Feya who was eating daintily.

"Oh, would it be too much trouble to see my father before we go?" Lalia asked and the Matriarch raised a brow.

"Your father, mother and brother are in the main hall actually. I invited them to join us for some crafts this eve." Bryson explained as the servants cleared the food away. Lalia could hardly contain herself, and stood up from the table walking carefully till she left the room. Then, when she thought they couldn't hear her she broke into a bit of a run. The faintest sound of heels clicking on marble heard in the dining room.

"Such a lovely child. Kyera, Melania, Feya you are all welcome to join us tonight if you like. If not, your rooms are prepared, rest as you like." Crystalsa offered before slowly raising to her feet. Feya stood as well.

"I will head to my room. The sooner I sleep the sooner I will be home." Feya replied as if disgusted with the notion of mingling. Crystalsa drowned, her brow furrowing at the rudeness as a servant girl led Feya away.

"That child does know that time does not work that way?" She asked looking at Kyera curiously.

"She does, but she is thoughtless. My apologies, Lady Crystalsa. I hope she has not offended you?" Melania tried to gently repair the damage done by Feya's manners. At this rate they wouldn't even get home before war was declared. She had half a mind to go scold that thoughtless child. Crystalsa chuckled warmly.

"Oh, no child. Old age has made my skin thick like a leather hide. It would take more than a childish snubbing to get my bones rattled." Crystalsa replied as she took Kyera's arm and they made their way to the foyer.

A older, grey haired couple, escorted by a young man with brown hair and honeyed eyes were talking and laughing with Lalia. The Second Princess was so happy and animated her joy lit up the room. The beads and cords were laid out on the table, wire and stones in place to help them craft.
