Mally sat at the table next to Kyera after she had finished explaining everything. While digesting the scenario and its sheer craziness, she poured tea for herself and her two guests. Lazren had explained his part easily enough, including the The Thorny Rose Bitch shooting him and the mission to kill the Princess Raina, which had gone over badly with both ladies.
"Alright, so it sounds like the next step is to get you a Master." Mally replied glancing over at Kyera. She could only imagine how her friend felt. So many became kittens to human hands, choosing luxury over hard work, but Kyera had always been one for freedom. How does one give that up for a indefinite amount of time and feel good about it?
"Yes. I will start working on that plan tomorrow. I don't have lessons with the Princess so I will spend the day as a tiger anyway." Kyera added, waving her hand as though it was all settled. Mally nodded and stifled a yawn.
"We need rest." Mally added with a sigh. Her bed sounded so good right now, but the look of hesitation on Kyera's face said it all.
"There's only one issue…" Kyera pointed out and Mally sighed.
"Speak up then, oh great killer of sleep." Mally replied shaking her head. Lazren chuckled and Kyera sighed, giving her a tried glance. Mally tried to feign innocents but could barely keep a straight face.
"What about Lazren? If she knows who he is then she could get him killed." Kyera pointed out and both of them smiled. There were some things that Forest Fresh Shifters didn't understand about the world she had walked into.
"She won't. I mean even if she reported him, Lazren was hired as an assassin to attack the Princess. She wouldn't chance that getting out there. Who knows what Lazren has said and to whom. She cant chance revealing herself." Mally explained with a sly chuckle. There was a certain amount of unease in Kyera's heart. What Mally said was logical but not everyone's mind accepted logic as the proper way for the world to be governed. Often Logic got in the way of driving forces like greed or revenge.
"Alright. Lazren, before you head to work in the morning, meet with me first so I can heal and conceal your wound. Just to be safe. Greed and self preservation can make people do crazy things." Kyera replied, honestly trying to trust their knowledge of this place and these customs but she knew the charms of a evil heart. If this Rose woman was cunning, there was no line as to what she could come up with.
"As you wish, Lady Kyera. Goodnight." Lazren replied laying back on the spare cot in the side room. Mally nodded and went to seek her own bed, but Kyera's hand caught hers.
"I am sorry. I didn't think before I brought him here. It was instinct and need to treat." kyera added trying to explain what had gone through her mind. She was unused to apologizing for something like this. She wasn't even sure why she was apologizing other than the gut wrenching feeling that she should.
Mally smiled and hugged Kyera close. "Kyera your a leader. A Princess and a Healer, if you hadn't brought him back here you wouldn't be the woman I know so well." Mally assured her with a smile. She let her go and stepped back. "If anyone should be sorry it's me. I should not have mentioned Verone in front of the Prince."
"It was fine. You didn't mean any harm and… I didn't exactly tell you how I was captured." Kyera replied and her friend took her hand leading her to her room. Mally sat down on the edge of her bed.
"No time like the present, huh?" she asked meeting Kyera's eyes. The Tigress tried to open her mouth, but couldn't bring herself too. Pain flooded her heart and shame filled her soul. There was nothing…. Nothing she could say to explain how she felt.
"The time...the time isn't right yet. I can't. I am sorry, Mally." Kyera replied her voice cracking as she tried to keep herself together. Mally hugged her again. Holding the girl as close as she could with the veil of shadows between them.
"Then don't. Tell me when your ready." Mally replied laying down on her bed and pulling Kyera down beside her. The two girls curled up in each other's comfort and fell asleep.
