Chapter 15 - Prepping the slaves

"Ubel, how will we make these slaves fight against armed and trained guards?" Kebin asked after returning on his Magma golem.

"Easy, at least half of these slaves are laborer-slaves. They should already have some strength, they only need little work" I replied.

"What do you mean about 'work'?" Kebin asked.

"I will give them a taste of what I went through for years," I said, I will make them go through the training I did every day on earth. A simplified version, however. I don't think they would be able to take something like that.

"Alright, can you all hear me?" I shouted towards my audience.

"Good, as you may have realized, you have been rescued. And also given a chance, a chance to free every other slave like yourself. Maybe they will be your family, maybe they will be your friends, or maybe they are your future friends? Tomorrow, we will start training you guys, so make sure you get a good night's rest." I stepped down from the platform we made and went towards my tent. The slaves, I mean 'the soldiers' are also sleeping in tents with their fellow squad members.

I personally met with everyone and formed the squads depending on their personality, abilities, and potential. Currently, things are going well.

With the book, however, I've only managed 3 pages, totaling to 18 pages. The last 8 pages I've read, was about the aptitudes and why only specific people get these different aptitudes. It all comes back to souls again, which was why it was so easy to understand those first 5 pages. For you see, what kind of aptitude you have, all depends on what your soul can handle and how your soul acts and thinks like. For example, for me, who have several aptitudes, and who can take on several advanced forms of magic, has a strong soul. Which means that I almost have "unlimited potential". In Isao's case, his soul acts shy and serving. Resulting in the shadow arts, he doesn't want to be seen but wants to be strong enough to serve his master, that kind of thing.

However, there are cases where people like Sanjo gets an aptitude for the shadow arts despite being friendly and helpful. This is what is described in those last three chapters. Sometimes souls "fuse" with one another, this can happen even when you are alive. In Sanjo's case, he fused with a soul that gave him an aptitude for the shadow arts, without taking a heavy toll on his personality.

How the souls fuse is rather complicated, it all starts with the will of the 'main body'. If the 'main body' is alive, then it's really hard to fuse the souls, since only the souls with strong 'will' can remain in the living world.

The most common method is fusing while being incarnated, the 'main body' will be the soul and then one or several other souls might fuse with it, that's how people keep changing even though their soul is a perfect copy of themselves. As I have been transferred, then reincarnated, I have not fused with any souls. Neither has Netis or Raz.

It was morning again, I guess it's time to start the training. I walked towards the training camp, what I found was every slave we freed, lined up in their given squads. "Good to see everyone is here, today is the day when we start training. The training will be really though, are you sure you can handle it?" When I asked this, all the men and women roared. I couldn't help but let out a sinister smile. "Alright then, every squad will be given equipment at their training area. So, get going and prepare yourself!" """YEAH!""" everyone roared.

Afterward, I went to the squads I'm going to personally train. I selected these squads hoping they'll be something of elite groups.

When I approached the training area, I was met with several glances from the 5 squads I'm training. "Hello, I will be your trainer," I said.

"Oi, I've been wonderin', how's a little brat going to train us?" The squad leader of Squad 1 asked me, his name was Blake.

"Easy, I have a way to train you guys, and I will train you" I answered.

"Then how about you prove your strength?" The big man from Squad 3 said. He wasn't the leader, and that's for a reason.

"Sure, how do you want me to prove it?"

"Arm wrestling! Arm wrestling is the manliest way to settle things!" He said, proudly. I approved of his challenge.

I raised a cylinder-shaped stone up from the ground. The big man squatted on one side of it, I did the same. "3, 2, 1, GO" The man shouted. The man was strong, so he put in all of his strength in the start, hoping for a quick win. However, I easily stopped it.

"So, you have some strength behind that arm, kiddo!" He shouted, frustrated.

"I didn't expect a muscle head to actually have muscle on his arms," I said.

"HAHAHA! You got humor kid! I'm starting to like you! But this match will have to end now!" He put a lot of strength into his arms, I did the same. The rock underneath us was being destroyed.

"OOORYAAAAAAAAAAA!" The man screamed and increased his power. Because of that scream, I was startled and put all of my strength into my arm. I easily won afterward.

"That was a good match kid, name's Drok, a barbarian!" Drok told me.

"I sort of guessed that. No normal warrior has that level of strength," I said. After all that, the man faced the other squads and said, "This kid is genuine! He will definitely teach us how to fight and defend ourselves!" the crowd of my special picked warriors roared.

Everything afterward went smoothly. And after a few weeks, these guys looked ready to fight almost anything. Not to mention that things are going smoothly on Raz' end. Although they blamed her at first, she managed to shift the blame onto the knight commander for not being able to stop the slaves from escaping. She even had several witnesses that said she was innocent. Afterward, they had gotten word from scouts, that the slaves are building a rebellion of sorts, ready to attack at any moment. It was at that moment Raz asked if the slave-trading could be banished from the empire. At that time, the Emperor refused. However, because of that, we are planning on attacking a fort city.

The fort cities are forts that protect the empire from attacks. Taking one of those will definitely show our strength in battle. However, we had to make sure these guys can actually kill other people, so I had assigned tasks to each squad that involves having to kill someone. They all passed without fail. Which is giving me hope, that this will go without so many casualties.

We will attack the next morning, we changed the position of our base, so they wouldn't storm us during the night.
