"Is he awake?"
"What do you think we just spiritually synced up to him"
"Hey kid you awake?" Wind sat straight up, took a deep breath in and shouted at the top of his lungs.
"What the actual fuck, what the actual fuck, why am I hearing voices in my head"
"Hey we aren't in your head I'm in your right forearm." Said the primordial voice from before.
"And I'm in your left forearm," said the child's voice.
"What do you want with me I'll give you anything just leave my body, please just leave me alone evil spirits" Wind said.
"Woah woah woah champ do you think we're evil?"
"Well you are but I'm not."
"You fucking destroyed my whole fleet."
"You raped my daughter!"
"She was asking for it!"
"How could she be asking for it she was wearing a mask and full plate armor!" The primordial voice yelled.
"Shut the fuck up all of you let's just calm down." Wind sat down and took a deep breath.
"Tell me your names and something interesting about you."
"My name is Divine Son I am the chosen of his Highness Divine Sun spirit embryo of the empire. I like carrot cake."
"My name is Evening Star, I like peanut butter."
"Thank you Mr. Star and Mr. Son, now what do you want with me"
"Do you hunger for something greater? Is your life boring? Dull? Come with me and conquer the universe and force them to submit to your will?" Divine Son said.
"I don't have anything to really offer you, my skills aren't suitable without the physique but I can offer you advice and wisdom that he cannot." Wind paused and looked at both of his forearms. Wind looked at the dirt above him.
"No, I don't need you guys, I just want to live my life normally. I don't need power I don't need good looks I just want to work hard and make a living for my family."
"What?!" They both said at once.
"So just don't bother me with my life."
If spirits had eyes they would stare. No was never an answer for them, in their lifetimes they were kings, exalts but now they were reduced to beggars because of this boy. This was nonsense, this was ludicrous, this was the absurdest of the absurd, the jester on his tiptoes above a fire, the nutcracker actually cracking nuts. What man would reject power, what man would say no to omnipotence? But Wind had stood firm and for the rest of the day the two spirits sat there dejected in each forearm not knowing what to say or what to do. Wind continued with his day, he ate lunch, he worked a bit on the wind farms and he hung out with his brother.
He sat on his bed the only light coming from a dim ball of light in the corner of his room. The room was sparsely decorated with a bed, a nightstand with a bear figurine lying on top of it looking dejected. He had a single wardrobe built into the dirt on the other end of the room and a mirror in one of the corners. Wind sat there admiring himself in the mirror. Wind liked looking at himself in the mirror liked seeing his thoughts move his muscles, liked watching things change in his body.
"Power... Why would I want it?"
"Power is great it lets you do anything you want. Any girl, any jewel, anything you want you can get it with power." Divine Son said.
"Power is the pursuit of dreams boy, do you have any?"
"Dreams? I dream at night, sometimes there are monsters, sometimes there are demons and tigers and sharks too."
"Not those dreams boy, what do you wish for in the world? Is there something you want so bad that you will give everything up to get it?"
"No, no there isn't. Is there something wrong with me? Whats the point at all only fate dictates what you receive in life, whats the point in even trying?"
"Fate only works for those who grab it. Being lazy and absurd like this will never help you." Evening Star said. Wind opened his mouth and closed it. He didn't have a response to something that was actually true. He looked at himself in the mirror. His face was pudgy and slightly ugly, his eyes were sunken and tired, his hair was in disarray.
Whats the point in living like this. Whats the point at all in being average, fuck it all.
"Boy?"
"No, don't call me that."
"Oh? Why?"
"Call me by my name."
"And what is that."
"Wind, Free Wind."
"So do you take our offer?"
"Yes, yes I do.
