Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Village

At the break of dawn, Faruth slowly opened his eyes. The sun rising over the tree line outside let him bask in its warm glow, if only for a short while. It gave him a sense of comfort, like a mother's embrace. Though he could never really feel that again.

Closing off his sentimentality, he slowly rose to his feet. Glancing to his left, he saw the Beast Master, Wulfarth sprawled out on the floor. Snoring away without a care. As if to not waste any time, the black furred Gnoll shook his sleeping companion awake, much to his confusion.

[*Yawn* "Master, why wake me up so suddenly? I'm still sleeping"] {Wulfarth}

The Beastman had rolled over in an attempt to return to sleep once more.

With veins bulging from his forehead, Faruth became extremely annoyed with his foolishly sleepy companion. Promptly shoving his foot into his back, sending the physically weak magic caster flying back a few metres and straight into the cave wall.

Though the result was completely unexpected, it sufficed to do the trick. The Beast Master shot his eyes open and stared at his Master with a mix of fear, worry and slight annoyance. To which his aggressor slyly added before walking off.

["I told you that we must wake early, Wulfarth. Did you forget what we have set out to do today?"] {Faruth}

Realisation striking his face like another kick, the Gnoll swiftly picked himself up before hurrying to the cave entrance. How could he forget. He and his Master were going to found a village!

Though the encounter may seem violent and aggressive, their somewhat carefree attitude towards one another just goes to show that they have somewhat loosened up towards one another after the conversation last night. Faruth aiding the Beast Master in healing his Spirit Animal completely warmed his heart, gaining a new level of trust in his Master.

Just outside the cave, Faruth stood standing in wait for his companion to catch up with him while he looked at the blood dried into the grass with mixed emotions. The emotions of both of his bodies were entwining and confusing him. On one hand, the human side of him felt nauseous at the thought that just last night, he had killed another living being.

Whereas the more animal side of him was overjoyed at the feeling of not only managing to defeat a strong foe, but slay them too.

While he was thinking this, the grey furred Gnoll, Wulfarth, caught up with. With a look of curiosity on his face, he turned to his Master, who appeared to be staring at the forest ahead of them with a blank look on his face. As he was about to say something to his peculiar Master, Faruth slowly reached out his hand and a stone token materialised in it.

This was, of course, the [Village Creation Token]. That Faruth had gotten as a bonus for selecting the [Wanderer] class.

If you looked closely, you can make out the intricate detail on both of its sides. Though no-one but Faruth would recognise it, it had the same appearance as the summoning platform. The only difference being that it was from an aerial view, though he could still make out the four stone dragons in each of the corners.

Without thinking any further he used [Appraisal] on it. Out of all of his skills, it was the one that he used the most. It was also turning out to be the useful. Not that he'd used many others though.

[[Do you want to use [Village Creation Token]? Yes/No]]

He unhesitatingly chose [Yes] within his mind. After this, the stone token in his hand slowly shifted about and disintegrated as the familiar sounds of the dragon's roars appeared again.

The dust slowly slipped from his hand and into the air, where it formed a black fog almost in the shape of a totem pole. A second window involving the token appeared too.

At this message, Faruth turned to the companion that was curiously and nervously glancing at the black fog that was hovering in the air in front of the duo.

["Wulfarth, where do you think we should place the centre of our village"] {Faruth}

This sentence caused the Beast Master to place his hand on his chin and think with a deep expression. After a minute or so of thinking, Wulfarth turned to his Master with a content look on his face.

["Master, I think that we should make the cave the centre of our village. It is the not only secure, it is also the only place currently that built up at the moment. It seems like the only logical place to me"] {Wulfarth}

Nodding his head with a similarly content look in his eyes, Faruth said out loud whilst raising his hands for added effect.

["Make the cave the centre of the village!"] {Faruth}

The black mist squirmed where it was, before shooting out towards the cave in mention. The added flair clearly made the grey Gnoll revere his Master even further, little did he know, that was what his Master had intended.

Following the mist, Faruth and Wulfarth moved back to the inside of the cave. Only to find that the black mist now sat directly in the centre of the main room slowly forming into a distinct shape.

After staring at it for a while, Faruth was confused. Was there anything that he needed to do himself? Or did the process just take a long time? Just as he was about to use [Appraisal] on it again, the black mist began to shudder, before slowly dissipating into the surroundings.

In its place however, stood a totem pole. Well, the beginnings of a totem pole. You can't call it a totem pole if it only has a single piece to it! Pushing down his confusion and mild annoyance, he used [Appraisal] on the fully formed object. While using it, a secondary window appeared just before it.

Faruth was almost shaking with joy. This was exactly what he needed. A place that where he can build his livelihood. He didn't need to worry about becoming stronger as quickly if there were others that were willing to grow stronger alongside him!

And judging by the description of it, it could be upgraded even further, giving even more bonuses to everyone near him!

Swiftly waking him up from his happy delusion, was Wulfarth tapping him on the shoulder with a nervous expression on his face. Pointing to the forest beneath him, he quickly silenced himself and his Master.

Thudding up towards the entrance of the cave was a string of footstep, deafening the two companions.
