After leaving the court official's chamber hall, Samael walked back to his room with a calm look on his face. Hearing the accusations of the king of how he is a spy or something gave him a few ideas. One of those is that the current times are in the brink of war. Empires are just holding back their hand, waiting for one to be the first sacrifice in their quest for supremacy.
The names the king spoke should be the two that their empire is most concern about.
"That frantic look on his face...my arrival to this realm sped up a lot of things didn't it?" with a light smile, seemingly proud at himself Samael spoke.
Indeed, his fall caused waves that shook the waters of this world. After thinking for a while Samael's expression turned solemn as he said to himself. "I need to start training..."
It didn't take him a while before he returned to his own room. The maid was still there, she jumped in surprise when Samael opened the doors. Her voice trembled as she spoke "y-you're back, why are you back? Didn't they i-imprison you or something?"
Samael had a funny look on his face as if he just heard the most ridiculous thing ever. "Imprison me? What for?"
The maid slowly avoided Samael, "W-well...No one knows who you are or where you came from. Who knows what you might do to the princess."
"Ohh? what exactly are you talking about?" Samael raised an eyebrow.
The maid blushed, hearing his question, she trembled before opening her little mouth, saying "Uhmm..You know...dirty stuff- Hey! what are you making me say!?" her face turned red like a tomato.
"Hahahahah, girl. I didn't make you say those things...well, who knew that a maid of the Princess, actually has a dirty mind?" Samael held his stomach, laughing. He didn't think that the girl would take this long for her to realize that he was just teasing her.
The maid turned red even more from embarrassment or anger, who knows? She stomped her foot staring daggers at Samael
Hmm?
In the middle of his laugh, Samael stopped and turned around, facing the door. The door opened and the princess walked in. The maid's blushing expression turned into a smile as if her savior just arrived, she cried "Princess!" before running to the Princess's side.
"What, did you bully her Samael?" Princess Lina's mouth also arched to a smile when she saw the maid's face.
"Just a casual talk, okay?" Samael shrugged his shoulders.
Then his expression turned serious and a bit grim, the person who walked in after the princess...he saw him earlier. It was the King...
The room went silent, the king stared right at Samael's eyes and Samael stared at his. The two locked eyes and you could almost feel the room getting colder. It was like they were ready to charge at each other at a moment's notice. But it was then that the King's expression turned softer and he sighed. "It is uncommon that a king will bow his head and ask for forgiveness...but I do so right now."
"My daughter had told me all that have happened before you were brought here, I had my men interrogate the guards that were with her and it is true that you are of unknown origins but you have not harmed her. For that, I hope you can forgive me." The king's body bowed at a 45-degree angle.
Samael's eyes flashed with surprise as he also sighed. "No, it is I who is in the wrong." bending his body as well.
The two then raised their bodies and stared at each other for a moment only but you could see the delight and respect in each other's eyes. The King understood where the young man in front of him was coming from and why he lashed out earlier. It was indeed his mistake to wrongfully accuse the boy without proof. Likewise, Samael also understood his duty to protect his kingdom, and his family above all else, he too would've done the same if he were in his shoes. In a way, the king's love and protectiveness towards his daughter remind him of how his own parents cared for him.
Remembering it, the smile slowly faded away as Samael appeared to have become melancholic. It didn't take too long for Samael to bounce back up and return to normal. It's no use crying, he should start striving to get stronger. Only by reaching the top could he enact revenge for his clan and parents.
"How long are you two gonna stand there and look at each other? I have no interest in seeing love bloom between men." Suddenly they heard a sarcastic voice. They turned and saw the princess already sitting at a chair, tea in hand.
"It's not like that." The King said.
To which the princess teased "How is it not that? Look at you two staring at each other so lovingly."
Both Samael and the King didn't know what to say to her.
"Well? Aren't you two going to sit down?"
Her words, caused them to look at each other dejected and they sighed. Nothing else to say to her, and the two sat down with Princess Lina.
"So what do you plan on doing now?" Princess Lina faced Samael and asked. Samael drank his cup and said. "I have no plans at the moment, I am open to suggestions." he lied, he didn't want them to learn his plans because they might ask about them and in the current situation Samael still holds no power.
Lina, of course, catches on quickly and although she is curious as to Samael's secrets she didn't want to pry because we all have a secret or two. She suggested with a smile "Then how about studying with me at the academy? I can have you registered as my bodyguard or knight."
"Absolutely not!" The King suddenly objected.
Princess Lina pouted "Why not?"
The King stood up and said with a stern face "Who knows what the people might say if you use your power to make him enter the academy? The last thing I need right now is trouble from the masses."
The Princess then turned mellow and she looked at her father with a bit of tear in her eyes. "Please...father?".
Seeing this, the king was lost for a sect and said "Alright, I'll think about it" when she heard her father say this she added "What's there to think about? Father, do you think your dear daughter hasn't thought about these things? Such rumors will pass and even if it did stay for a while, I believe such things will resolve themselves"
"You mean...hmm, alright, alright. You win..." The king thought for a while before conceding.
"Hehe, you're the best, Father." The Princess smiled, for a young maturing lady she sure does like to act like a kid.
The king soon bid his goodbye as he has other matters to attend to, leaving the Princess with Samael. The two stayed silent for a while after the king went and it was the Princess who started the conversation. Her childish attitude disappeared and her bearing as a royal princess exuded out from her.
"Say, whatever things you keep to yourself, I hope you can share them with someone. It isn't good to keep it all in yourself." The princess looked like she was sympathizing with Samael as she felt the melancholic change in Samael earlier.
"Someday, maybe." Samael understood her intentions and thanked her in his heart.
"Anyways...I think you don't know much about, well, everything apparently so why don't I brief you about it." The princess smiled. Samael smiled as well as he drank his cup "Thank you."
The princess started talking, informing Samael as much as she can, from the very basic up to the more complicated things that are happening.
He learned that the current place or rather the land he is currently in is called "South red Prefecture" one of the famous places to go visit here is the Azure Thunder Mountain ranges. The mountain ranges separate two opposing empires, The Crimson sky Empire, where he is currently and the Blue Forest Empire which is situated on the other side of the mountain range. They are famed for their Rain Fruits which come from their trees that have blue leaves.
Samael asked about the different sects and clans of this world, of course without the princess suspecting something. He had learned that the numerous sects and clans are divided into classes. Low, middle, and top. The Top-level sects and clans have all occupied the center area of the continent, monopolizing the many rare materials to be found there. While the middle-level sects occupy the land outside the central area, there are still rare materials there but not as much as in the central area, the Crimson Sky empire also belongs to this level. Lastly, the low-level sects and clans, are commonly seen on the outskirts of the continent and some are to be found in the middle-level areas.
It was already dark when the Princess finished telling him about everything she could tell. He thanked her and bid his goodbye as she left his room to rest.
After hours of listening, Samael absorbed all of the information and from that information, he had learned that the Highest Level that any cultivator of this world has reached was a paired Spirit Wing level.
Thinking about this Samael shook his head. This world is far too weak in terms of cultivation manuals. Looks like has to carefully plan how he is going to proceed from here.
