Every Elder was staring at the Chief waiting for his opinion and orders. While the Elders were in the second most important position they were still behind the Chief. Not only that, but the Chief Slaughter was an unreasonably strong individual and with the fact that he was coupled with a creature that was never seen before.
He was a hybrid because his parents bonded mated and created a creature that never should have been alive. A beast with eight legs like a spider but with a head of a lion with teeth that were 4 inches long could tear anything into pieces. The legs allowed for fast movement and the tips of the legs were insanely sharp and could slice through metal.
Even the Elders knew that if all of them united into 8 strong -16 with bonded animals- they would win, but the damages would be devastating.
Unlike other kingdoms and tribes where the kings and queen were just used as figure heads and weren't in control this was the opposite. That's one of the reasons that no matter how powerful of an individual wanted to help Ivory they wouldn't dare for fear of Chief Slaughter.
Finally after multiply minutes the powerful voice of the Chief rang out, "We will wait and see what happens after she gets back from her mission." The Elders were left speechless. The Chief still wanted his daughter to go onto this impossible mission.
It was even more unlikely now that she would return alive if the fact that she had a dragon as a soul bonded got out. Many powerhouse's would act out of fear and try to eliminate her so that she would no longer pose as a threat.
"If she manages to come back alive and carrying news of success then she deserves to have her rights and privileges back. And she will be welcomed back home no longer as a failure, but a true clansmen." The Chiefs voice was filled with power and left the Elders no room to argue.
Of course that wouldn't stop Elder Ash. She was known for her temper and was hard to keep her in line and due to the fact that she was the leader of the Fire Element Section who was considered the #2 Section in the Clan out of the eight could not be taken lightly.
Elder Ash Fire Element Section used to be the #1, but because the Sky Section which was lead by Elder Fly had now three griffons the Sections strength skyrocketed. Elder Ash had never been mad nor held a grudge towards Elder Sky because when hersection got better it was only beneficial to the Warrior Clan.
"Why not allow someone to go with her? If we could send someone over to her to keep guard and kindle a relationship then wouldn't it be a win-win situation? We could gain her loyalty through her friends and make sure that she is kept safe and can become a powerhouse that could take our clan into becoming a Kingdom!" Elder Ash never did anything half way and was very cunning. Her ability to sway the crowds and the other Elders was really threatening.
It made the Chief worry that she would be able to cause a revolt against him. Only he knew that she could never find the courage to risk a revolt against him.
Elder Ash was perceptive and caught the glimmer in his eyes and she secretly clenched her hands into tight fists. If she could find anyway to get back the one thing that she loved from him then she could have one of his intelligent daughters inherit the Chief position and her and her treasure could live peacefully.
The other Elders knew that Elder Ash and the Chief had tension between the two, but why they had no clue. They could only hope that neither would explode.
----------
I woke up because of an emotion that wasn't mine, but of Moonstone's. An aching in her stomach that was never-ending and forever-growing. Hunger.
Standing up and walking to the large hall that counted as the Food Hall. I had never gone there before preferring to take my time in the woods to hunt.
Now that I too had a bonded -and one that was starving- I deserved to be there just like anyone else.
The stares today were different when they saw my company. Many even gasping and wherever I walked past whispered were spread. Grabbing a tray and nudging Moonstone with my mind to the large wooden boxes that were stocked with meat and one with water where the bonded got to eat. The boxes were made where only a certain amount could eat at a time where the strongest got to eat and the weak had to wait until the strong ones were done.
Moonstone even though she was small she made up that with ferocity. Slashing one of her jeweled claws across an animal with the sturdy body of a horse with small sharp teeth.
This was currently one of the strongest soul animals because it was already quite late. Most in the clan would wake up early to get a jump start on their training. Normally I would do the same, but because of the exhaustion I had overslept to compensate for my injuries.
The horse reared and one of the people sitting down jumped up, on his face carried a touch of pain. I assumed that this was the soul bonded of the horse. Because the horse felt pain the bonded would feel a mirror of the pain.
Since Moonstone had decided to challenge the horse for the food spot I had involuntarily challenged the horses bonded.
I had gotten the short end of the stick [1] on this one. The man had obviously been able to get used to drawing power and strength from his bonded to enhance his skills, but I had never been given the option to even try it yet.
It was clear to see the man was pissed and his stare zeroed in on me.
There was going to be a fight. And in the middle of it was going to be me and him.
