Chang Guan woke up. He opened his eyes, with no intention of ever getting up from his bed. His bed was something cheap he had bought and wasn't particularly comfortable, but nonetheless, he was still incapable of leaving the evil clutches of his bed. Chang Guan cultivated. He really wasn't particularly fond of cultivating, but it was better than doing nothing. His energy level had barely increased from last time and wasn't even increased by 1 %. Chang Guan sighed, he had a lot of talent for Ninjutsu, but the one thing he wasn't good at was gathering energy.
Chang Guan poked around in his robes, calmly pulling out throwing a knife. With nothing else to do while cultivating, he began fiddling with his throwing knife.
*Creak*
Suddenly, the knife squeaked. Slightly shocked at what was happening, Chang Guan began investigating what had happened, realizing swiftly that the bottom of the knife had been partially opened. Although there wasn't much space in the gap, Chang Guan became slightly excited, after all, why would there be a secret compartment without a secret. With such a thought in mind, Chang Guan began researching the knife. He spent 10 minutes, checking every last part of the knife, and was very disappointed by what was discovered.
"It's... Just an empty hatch?"
He couldn't wrap his head around it, who in their right minds would make a secret place without anything secret to be hidden there. Convinced that this wasn't the end, Chang Guan brought out every knife he had on him and searched them. The conclusion? Every one of them had such a hatch, and all of them had nothing in the hatch. Knowing this, he became truly disappointed. `I guess it's true. The higher your expectations, the larger the disappointment... Well, on the bright side it's not like they're useless.´
Actually, Chang Guan still had the hope of there being something hidden in the gap, but in truth, there was nothing. In fact, that compartment wasn't meant to be used for anything and was only there to help the circulation of Qi.
Chang Guan wasn't an ordinary person, however, and used the sadness of not finding anything in the knives, and used it as motivation to get him out of bed. It worked! Chang Guan stood in front of his bed, wearing an expression of disbelief,
"I, I can't believe it! I actually got out of bed? This marks the path of my new journey!"
Needless to say, he was joking. Although he was legitimately surprised at how easy it was for him to get out of his bed, he had no faith that this in any way would 'Marks the path of his new journey', but it was definitely nice to actually wake up early for once.
Now that Chang Guan was properly awake, he searched the area with his Qi, until finally finding what he was looking for.
"These seem like they'll be nice for breakfast."
As he said this, Chang Guan began salivating, which he was unaware of for a few seconds before finally reacting and wiping it away with the sleeve of his robes. This was an embarrassing moment where he was glad that there was nobody else who would ever know that anything like that had happened. After all, as a cultivator, you should be able to control your body.
Chang Guan glanced to his left and right swiftly, confirming that there was, in fact, no one who had seen that before he jumped up on a nearby tree, activating the Cloaking Tactic at the same time to hide. Using the Stacked Speed Tactic, he jumped from tree to tree agile as a monkey, until he finally saw his prey. It was a rabbit.
Ever since he was born, he was constantly pampered with food. Of course, he had been sent on some missions like assassinations before, but that didn't hinder him being pampered. He had eaten all sorts of delicacies in the Ryuu Clan, and he had this urge to eat cheap, greasy food. He had eaten similar food on his ride with the Itou Merchant Group, but there was just something special about preparing your own food.
The rabbit was swiftly killed. Of course, as a harmless herbivore, it had no chance to defend itself form Chang Guan, who was a powerful Shinobi.
Bringing the newly killed rabbit back to his camp, he eagerly looked forward to his breakfast. It didn't take long for him to ignite a fire and set up his cooking apparatus. When he had finished cleaning the rabbit, he began to cook. His movement seemed like that of an expert. This was natural since he had observed the chefs from the Itou Merchant group prepare the food, and in 5 minutes, the rabbit was prepared.
Unfortunately, the moment he took his first bite, he started gagging and coughing violently.
"*COUGH!* *COUGH!* Ughhh, this tastes horrible! *GAG!*, Ughh, I'm about to barf."
Chang Guan had no idea why his rabbit tasted so bad. It even looked and smelled delicious, but for some reason, it just tasted bad. He thought he had perfectly mimicked the chefs, so how could the food possibly taste so different? It took Chang Guan multiple minutes before he accepted the fact that he wasn't going to eat breakfast today. He had had confidence in his cooking skills and had, therefore, bought no rations form any stores back in the town. He couldn't go and try again, because, as his luck would have it, there is nothing else that he could possibly make into a breakfast.
As such, he just needed to accept the fact that he wasn't having breakfast today.
"Alright, enough, if there's nothing to eat, then I might as well start traveling again."
With this in mind, Chang Guan walked over to his tent and began packing it up in a compressed way. He cleaned up the cooking utensils and stored everything in his spatial ring. He casually used his Qi to extinguish the campfire and started moving once more.
