Chapter 4 - Adventurer Guild

In a small town bordering a forest, there was a man. This man looked about 25 years old and had coarse clothing, looking just like a commoner.

This man was Ryuu Sasaki. Although the jump may seem large, it's actually much smaller than you would expect. After all, of the 3 elementary Tactics from the Ryuu clan, one of them is called the Cloaking Tactic. As its name implies, this Tactic lets you alter both your appearance and cultivation and as such is very useful for disguising.

Since Ryuu Sasaki was a member of the Ryuu clan, he had been forced to partake in some missions. Among which there were plenty of assassinations and thefts. As such he has practiced this Tactic to it's second highest layer, the 6th layer.

If anyone wanted to find his true appearance or strength, they had to be a lot stronger than him.

Disguised, Ryuu Sasaki entered a building with a large sign at the front. It read Adventurer Guild. He walked up to the clerk by the desk and said in a rough low voice,

"Excuse me, I would like to apply for an adventurer's license."

In all truthfulness, Ryuu Sasaki looked down on adventurers. Although they were called adventurers, they were all mortals, people who didn't cultivate. Not only that but there were also many adventurers who were like bandits, and so, in his opinion, a more accurate title would be Bandits Den.

Yet, if he was an adventurer, people he would be able to get requests, and one of the most popular requests was from merchants who needed bodyguards to accompany them on their path. That was precisely what Ryuu Sasaki wanted.

The clerk turned around and said,

"Alright, please fill in this form"

While saying so, she handed him a piece of paper. On the paper was a series of questions. The questions varied from `What is your name´ to `Martial arts experience´ and such.

After swiftly scanning it, Ryuu Sasaki began filling in the form. Once all of the questions were answered, he returned the paper to the clerk.

The clerk read through the document and said,

"Thank you for your work, Mr. Chang Guan, here is your license. The requesting board is to your left, please notify me when you have picked your assignment."

"Thank you."

And with that, he left the desk. All of the information he signed on was false but complemented his disguise very well. Of all the information he had written on the sheet, the most important was; His name was Chang Guan, he was 24 years old, he had 16 years of martial arts experience.

This was his persona until he reached the Black Desert region, at which point he would make himself seem like a talented cultivator and join a sect.

The reason he picked Chang Guan as his false name was that it was a name that was native to Black Desert region, unlike the name Ryuu Sasaki, which clearly belonged to another region.

Ryuu Sasaki, or should I say, Chang Guan, walked over to the requesting board and looked around. Unfortunately, he couldn't see any requests asking for protection until the Black Desert region.

But he did see one that at least went in the right direction. Chang Guan casually tore the request of the board and walked over to the clerk,

"Here, I want to do this one."

The clerk, who was looking through some documents, looked over at Chang Guan, then at the request, and said,

"All right, for that request, the reward is 35 silver coins"

"Understood"

"Good, then you will leave from here at 2 o' clock tomorrow, please be there on time."

After a quick nod, Chang Guan left the guild. As he walked out of the door, a short girl bumped into him.

Although it was done very expertly, Chang Guan easily noticed that she was taking his wallet. After all, as a Yellow Mask Shinobi, his senses were very sharp. Despite noticing this, he didn't care and continued walking as if he hadn't noticed.

Why? Because, not only did he have more important things to do, the wallet barely had any money in it as its whole purpose was to help disguise him as a commoner. In fact, it might even blow his cover if he noticed something like that, after all, that pickpocket was very good at what she did.

Right now he was headed to an inn. Since they were going to depart tomorrow, he needed to find a place to stay for the night. He walked into an alleyway and after making sure no one else was around he pulled out some silver coins from his Spatial Ring and put it in a pouch that he hung around his neck.

As he was walking around the town he found a place called "The Exceed Inn". He thought to himself, `As good a place as any´ and walked into it. The moment he entered, the smell of alcohol assaulted his nose and this made him wrinkle his eyebrows.

He didn't like the smell of alcohol, actually, he didn't like alcohol at all. Alcohol is something that can make someone lose control of themselves, and that was a feeling Chang Guan hated. He wanted to be in control of his own body.

He walked over to the counter and arranged for a room. The receptionist replied,

"Got it! A single person room for a night, that will be 13 bronze coins."

After handing over the money and being given the key to his room, Chang Guan went up the stairs and into his room. He casually scanned the room with his Qi. After making sure there were no traps or anything of that kind, he lied down on the bed, and thought, `This was an eventful day´.
