The three men went to wait for the other fighters who cleared their first opponents. The one hundred opponents of this morning were now down to eighty participants. After resting for thirty minutes, Tower was called back up to the stage.
It was unusual for Tower to get matched up with someone larger than him. However, the person he was fighting was a full head taller than him. Myric Gil was standing in a gray and black. His fighting shoes were black as were his pants. His upper-wear was a combination of grey and black as if the line between the two were like snake cutting diagonally down his body. He had long hair that was tied up.
Taking something like a Kung Fu stance, Myric was ready to fight. Tower also took a fighting stance. Tower and Myric waited for the sound of the start of the fight. Sizing each other up the two thought they had the measure of the other.
The command to fight was given. Tower, moved back and just as he moved, the space he was standing in was now filled with Myric who was swinging down. Tower stepped forward with a counter since he was off balance.
Myric rolled forward and stood up dashing forward with another attack. Tower blocked the incoming attack and attacked with a low kick to Myric's shin. The hit connected but it didn't seem to affect Myric. It seemed he also studied a body hardening technique.
The two separated and began running around the ring and incredible speeds keeping an eye on each other. Coming into the center and going out with a clash each time, every block of a hit led to a booming noise. A high-speed clash began. Many in the audience couldn't keep track of their movements.
Tower got the upper hand when he stepped on Myric's foot and it caused him to lose control. Myric started to crash towards the floor, but Tower caught him by the neck and slammed his face into the ground.
Grabbing Myric by the leg, Tower intended to throw him off the platform, however, Myric was down but not out. Myric broke free of Tower's grip and flipped over backward and then rose up from the ground. Blood was coming out of his nose, his forehead, and his lips. Myric ran to where he was just smashed down and angled a kick at the ground. the marble plate for the ground popped up.
Myric kicked the marble plate and it burst into a thousand pieces all of them headed towards Tower at astonishing speed! Tower also kicked at an angle popping up his own marble tower that he broke into thousands of pieces. He used these bits of debris to intercept the ones Myric sent out.
Tower crushed his foot hard into the ground and propelled himself towards Myric. What no one noticed was that when Tower hit his foot on the ground, a portion of another tile flew up into Tower's hand.
Rushing toward Myric, Tower crushed the marble piece into dust and then threw it into the eyes of the unsuspecting Myric. Myric closed his eyes to protect them from the dust. It was at this point that Tower slammed his shoulder into Myric. The force was enough to finally knock him off stage. Tower won again!
Bwiri was watching from the special VIP viewing lounge and felt the battle went pretty much the way she expected. She told Tower to focus on learning how to drag an opponent into making a mistake in this round. He finished off his last round too quick. All this demonstrated was that Tower was a brutal fighter. Tower already knew that about himself.
The question Tower needed to answer for himself as if he could do more than be a brutal fighter? Could he use his mind to defeat his opponents or would it always be a matter of overpowering everyone he came across?
If Tower's fighting abilities were only at the level of overpowering others then he would have a short martial career. There were many warriors in the world who were stronger than Tower. There were those who were even more brutal and decisive. Such warriors were a dime a dozen.
A warrior who could help his enemy destroy him? Such a warrior would be dangerous even when facing those with much higher cultivation levels.
Tower didn't do bad this round. He used a few petty tricks to draw the enemy into his flow, but someone with more experience would have seen through his ploy. Bwiri was going to have Tower focus on this aspect of his arts for the next few matches.
Just as Bwiri was going to turn her attention to another battle platform to watch one of the other boys' match, Bwiri caught site of an interesting looking young woman. She dressed in a form-fitting female fighting robe with puffy shoulders. Her hair was tied up.
The way the girl walked it was clear she was in no fewer life and death battles than Tower. Bwiri motioned for Jek Alto and asked him about the girl. Jek looked at her for a couple of minutes. He wasn't exactly sure who she was. However, he had a rough idea if the girl is who he thinks she is.
"Give me a moment and I'll look into it," said Jek as he disappeared.
After less than a minute, Jek was able to verify what he thought. He returned to Bwiri to report on the matter.
"The girl is Fanna Grace. She is seventeen and a member of the Maki Clan. She was adopted by one of the elders in the clan when she was six. Her entire village was wiped out by two warring sects, the Big Spider Sect and the Thunder Frog Sect. The village was collateral damage over the course of their fight. Fanna escaped the calamity because she was herding some sheep.
Elder Zun found her walking alone along a dirt road. He took her in but unfortunately, he passed away two years later. Some in the Clan view her as a jinx." Jek finished his report.
"She is strong, I will either invite her to join my Amazons or make her a wife of one of the men," said Bwiri. Noticing a look of concern in his eyes, Bwiri realized something was bothering Jek.
"You don't believe me?" asked Bwiri.
"It's not that I don't believe you, but I don't think you'll get the chance. This girl would do well in either as an Amazon or as the wife of one of the young masters, however, she may get invited before you have the chance to speak with her," aid Jek.
"Why do you say that," asked Bwiri.
"That man down there is a scout for the Super Sects, and he's been keeping an eye on Fanna since this morning. I think he's going to try and recruit her," said Jek.
Bwiri followed Jek's pointed finger and saw who he was talking about. Her face grew dark and she harrumphed.
"Oh, I'll take care of him, don't worry about it," said Bwiri.
Bwiri knew this man, he was Greco Roman, a talent scout who even the Amazons had some dealings with. This man became an exclusive scout to the two super sects and began stealing candidates from the Amazons. If that weren't bad enough, he even went so far as to capture a girl they selected and forced her against her will to join one of the superb sects by threatening her family.
The young girl had talent, but not the disposition toward being a martial artist. It was planned that she would learn a supporting field and from there she could support her family. The girl was very happy about this arrangement. Greco, however, only saw money when he saw the girl. Using his identity as a respected talent scout, Greco came into the Amazon city, found the girl, and kidnapped her.
He got his money, and the girl found herself in a sect that she didn't want any part of. She was forced by the sect to cultivate to become a warrior. She died on her first mission out. The Amazons hated Greco for this action and vowed that one day he would pay. However, Greco never returned near the Amazon lands again.
Here he sat today, plotting once more for his own selfish wants. She wouldn't see him force another poor girl into a sect. If she wanted to go that was one thing, but if she didn't she wouldn't allow her to be forced.
Using her ability, Bwiri communicated mentally with Greco.
"Leave scum," said Bwiri.
"Who?" asked Greco.
"What a brave man, the Amazons are giving you one chance to get out of here before killing you and you spend your time asking silly questions," Bwiri said in anger.
Instead of looking scared, Greco smiled and leaned back in his chair.
"Come now, miss Amazon. You really aren't going to risk the anger of the Supreme sects on a meaningless squabble from a few years ago, right?" Greco asked with confidence. Greco became exceedingly arrogant over the years given his connection to the Supreme sects.
"Don't regret your answer just now," Bwiri said as she cut off communication. Suddenly, Greco looked slightly worried. He didn't expect the Amazon he was talking with to be so unreasonable!
Realizing that he should probably leave, Greco got up and started leaving.
"Too late,' Bwiri said to him in his mind.
Feeling a shadow looming over him, he turned around to see Tower looking aggressive and powerful.
Tower grabbed the man by the nape of the neck and ran off with him towards the forest. An hour later, Tower came back and Nodded to Bwiri signifying it was done. There was no need to say more. The two understood one another's intent.
Bwiri went back to watching the competition.
