Chapter 21: The Battle of Chaos
[Hellion Arc]
🌸
Saya and Haji, as well as Seya, readied themselves as they faced both Rose Reaper and the Usamata's boss.
Saya attacked first by launching herself towards Rose Reaper while Haji followed suit and attacked the boss.
Saya attacked Rose Reaper with both her swords and with each swipe of her swords, sparks could be seen in in air. Apparently, Safira Rosa's powers were to crystallize everything, including air itself. In all of Rose's and Rainbow Kingdom's history, no weapon in the Cosmos was more powerful than Safira Rosa and that was saying something since Safira Rosa was the exact manifestation of Saya's powers.
And as Saya swung her swords at Rose Reaper, the hooded woman just kept a leisurely grin on her face, ultimately and slightly annoying Saya a bit. But Saya never got truly angry for she knew that Rose Reaper was just taunting her for her to lose control and be easily manipulated.
Haji attacked the boss with both his short swords. He kept his usual poker face and held a calm demeanor as he faced the enemy.
The boss was quite astonished at he witnessed Haji's skill. He must admit, that hooded woman told him this guy was just a knight but he didn't expect him to be this strong. But nonetheless, he wasn't even fighting with his full strength so how can a mere dominion knight faze him? And he haven't even released his army yet so how could he lose? He was just getting some warm up done.
As the fighting progressed, Seya looked on with a rather complicated expression. In all honesty, she didn't really know what to do. Since she was young, she was also like that. Even though Saya and her were both twins, with her being the older twin, it always seemed that Saya was instead the one to always save her in times of trouble, since Saya was the one to inherit the ancient power of the Red Rose*.
(a/n: *Safira Rosa)
It seemed that she really was indeed pitiful. But that didn't mean she couldn't fight.
Seya straightened herself and formed various hand signals all the while muttering enchantments. Even though she didn't inherent their mother's powers, that didn't mean she didn't inherit anything. She inherited something from their father, instead. And that was the power to summon a being from other realms, Ammorenthia.
Just then, as she finished the incantation, various figures then appeared. It was Urika and the others but it would seem that Sumire and Shimozoku haven't arrived yet. Even the realm's king, Riuzyll Wolfenhyde has arrived.
Seya smiled. It was really about time.
Then, she looked up and saw her summoned creature. She smiled while the creature bowed down. It was a Midnight wolf. And wasn't any ordinary wolf, either. It was the Alpha King of the Midnight Wolves in Ytheria, the realm of dreams.
"It's been a long time, Morizoku." Seya said with a warm smile.
"Indeed, mistress." the wolf said with a bow. "So, what do you want me to do for you?"
"Help me with this stuff. As you can see from around you, it is pretty obvious that I want your help in defeating those guys." Seya said while pointing at Rose Reaper's and the boss' direction.
The Midnight Wolf, Morizoku looked and his eyes registered momentary shock before he understood something but then his expression changed into a calm one, like the previous expression didn't exist.
"As you wish."
Morizoku then leaped and went to help Saya with fighting Rose Reaper. Saya seemed to notice something approaching so she went and dodged. She saw that it was that Midnight Wolf her twin sister liked to summon.
"Momo!" she exclaimed with happy surprise.
Morizoku heard her nickname for him and couldn't help but cringe internally. Until now, he couldn't get why he, an Alpha Wolf, would get called such a cute sounding name. He really seemed quite pitiful, no?
Morizoku just shrugged his feelings of momentary self-pity and just focused on the fight while Saya realized that it wasn't time to play around in front of the enemy so she, too, resumed being serious.
When Urika and the others arrived, the battle had already begun. The boss seems to sense their presence and a grin began to spread on his face.
Haji was confused for a while before realization sunked in. It would seem the boss was going to release his army only one-eyed creatures.
At the boss' signal, thousands of Usamatas began to grow sinister auras and opened up their eyes to fully show the entirety of their powers.
The fourteen year old Riuzyll also changed into his true form which was a huge black wolf. He prepared himself and then launched at various Usamata's heading towards their direction. He had just sent word through his pack's link that the fight was starting and it wouldn't take too long before reinforcements arrive.
Urika and the others also activated their powers without a second thought and also joined the fight.
I'm just about five minutes' time, the Wolfhydes arrived and also joined the fight. And now that more and more creatures were involved, more and more also got injured. Luckily for them, Urika's powers included healing. And it was one of the unique traits she inherited from her father and together with the Green Rose's power, it was a different one altogether. It was now called, Healinea Stroma, instead of just Healinea.
Green Rose petals began to descend towards the injured comrades and as each petal got contact with the injured, their injuries began healing in a rapid pace that not a single trace of injury could be seen.
Saya was still fighting Rose Reaper but Haji was now with her. Kiede and Rinne, as well as their knights were now fighting the boss while Seya and Urika were fighting the one-eyed army as well as healing the injured. She must admit, she also wanted someone to help but she was also quite glad that Haji was helping her. After all, at least someone was still there to help her. But she really wondered what's holding Sumire for her to be late. Were the Moon Fields really far away?
Morizoku was supposed to help her but he went away and helped Seya. Saya can't also blame him for after all, protecting one's master was also quite important. And that's why only Haji and she were left off to fight Rose Reaper.
The both of them continued to work with sincronization, completely in sinc with each other as they fought Rose Reaper. Rose Reaper didn't go easy on them either and kept throwing out hell fireballs but this time, she didn't grin like usual but instead, her lips were set in a straight line.
It would seem like things aren't really going well according to what she planned. And she seemed to have quite underestimated her opponents. But all is not over yet.
Saya noticed that Rose Reaper seemed to be getting slower and was about to attack to gain advantage of her opponent when Haji suddenly held her back and carried her far away.
"Wha-?
Just then, thick, black aura surrounded Rose Reaper and she suddenly muttered strange series of words and as she muttered, familiar figures of a purple-haired princess and a silver haired man arrived with flourish just few feet away from Saya and Haji.
Sumire heared the things that Rose Reaper was muttering and her eyes went wide with indignation and surprise.
"How could this be?! Impossible!"
Saya stared at her with curiosity and worry. Based on her cousin's face, it seemed pretty serious. "What is it? What's wrong?!"
Sumire looked at her with a grave expression on her face. "The things she was muttering. It's an ancient curse and it's a curse that 'till now sends a chill up my spine."
Saya's face seemed to register recognition and shock. This curse was momentarily discussed by her mother and back then, she also had goosebumps.
"Don't tell me-" Saya's face was now grave. Haji heard their conversation and his stoic expression seemed a bit more rigid.
Sumire nodded. "What you're thinking is right. It is indeed the ancient curse of our kingdom...the Rose's Curse."
