Chapter 7 - The Empress' Excitement

"I knew the swordsman would save the little girl!"

"Ahhh... this warms my heart. The swordsman's doting smile melts my heart..."

"It's no wonder that even the nuns like Immortal Emperor Changge so much. He's truly a ladykiller."

"I knew Immortal Emperor Changge would not disappoint!"

"It's such a warm feeling!"

"Yes, it's too warm!"

Seeing the scene unfold before them, the hundreds of millions of cultivators couldn't help but laugh. Their hearts brimmed with warmth. Because of the buns the little girl gave him, the swordsman protected her. He kept his promise, after all.

The little girl's kindness gave her a lifetime of peace.

"Hmmph! This fake! Ye Changge is not that kind of man!" the Queen of Poison harrumphed.

How can that person who had forced her to eat countless poison be so kind? What? Because of the two buns, he bent his back over backward just to save a little girl?

As if!

"Perhaps... he hadn't become that vicious Ye Changge yet! He hasn't fully comprehended the Dao yet, so his heart hasn't transformed," Empress Taiyin said.

Of course, her words weren't made in an attempt to explain his behavior.

She also loathed Ye Channge.

She merely spoke about the possibilities. At the beginning of each reincarnation cycle, one will not awaken their previous memories. He could very well be a good person in this life that is until his memory awakens, becoming the wicked man he was meant to be.

The empresses loathed Ye Changge to his very core.

Xiao Zhen was slightly relieved. He was afraid that the empresses would feel pity because of the scene that shone a positive light upon Ye Changge.

Xiao Zhen looked at his corpse. Although he was dead, he could very well enter the reincarnation cycle at any moment. He and the eleven empresses need to unite as one to completely cut off his way of reincarnation to completely kill Ye Changge and avoid future troubles.

However, they should restore their strength for now.

They didn't have the proper strength to break his reincarnation cycle.

Killing the Immortal Emperor's body is no easy feat, especially for the first Immortal Emperor of ancient times.

'He... he let my parents go? Impossible! This is impossible! My parents were killed by him. This can't be wrong... my memory can't be wrong!'

Empress Chiyue recalled for a moment in her mind, before hurriedly shaking her head. She finally found the loophole! She saw her parents die at Ye Changge's hands with her own two eyes.

This memory was clear. It wasn't wrong! Therefore, the problem wasn't hers but the Golden Light's projection. It has to be!

'Hmph! You want to mess with this empress' heart?! Ye Changge... Ye Changge, you're cruel even after death!'

Empress Chiyue stared at Ye Changge's corpse which overlapped with that familiar swordsman figure she remembered hundreds of millions of years ago.

They looked exactly the same.

Only that their scent is different.

The swordsman at the time was just a wandering swordsman.

Those days with the swordsman were the happiest times for her, however, it was also her most heartbreaking moment.

***

With the power of the reincarnation cycle, the Golden Light's projection continued.

Before Yue'er woke up, the wandering swordsman buried all the corpses in the courtyard and cleaned up the bloodstains. No one would be able to notice that a battle had occurred last night.

When Yue'er awoke, she saw the swordsman standing in the courtyard.

"Uncle? Why are you here?"

Yue'er rubbed her eyes. At first glance, she saw the uncle she had grown fond of over time. She was surprised and a little happy.

"Uncle, where are my parents? Why aren't they at home?"

"They said something about having to go out to run some errands and dragged me to take care of you," the swordsman said with a warm smile. He didn't want the little girl to know that his parents were bad people.

When Empress Chiyue saw this, she gritted her teeth angrily.

'Impossible! This can't be true!'

However, this scene did happen. Empress Chiyue couldn't refute that fact.

Is it...

Is it...

No! Impossible!

Empress Chiyue didn't want to believe in that possibility.

***

After the swordsman and Yue'er had dinner, trouble came knocking at their front courtyard.

It was the Lin Family.

The Lin Family had sent their swordsmen to pick up Yue'er last night, but since they hadn't arrived, they sent someone to check-in.

And this time, they sent someone stronger.

"Excuse me, sir, have you by chance seen my Lin Family swordsmen?" asked a group from the Lin Family clan politely.

"Yue'er, you go ahead and clean up the table."

The swordsman did not answer, but turned his head to the side and instructed the little girl with a smile.

"Yes, Uncle!"

Yue'er nodded in response. Just as she was leaving, she stood on her tiptoes and whispered in the swordsman's ear softly, "Uncle, you have to be careful. They're the swordsmen from the Lin Family. They're very powerful! You won't be able to beat them with a wooden sword!"

"Don't worry, I'll be careful." The swordsman smiled and nodded.

Yue'er jumped up and down and happily went inside to clean up the table.

The lively little girl was very smart for her age. She could sense that the Lin Family came with bad intentions.

"What a smart and cute little girl. Her foundations are good too. She has the talent to learn the way of the swords." The swordsman couldn't help but lament.

The swordsmen of the Lin Family felt insulted when they heard the muttering of the homeless man in front of them.

He had completely ignored them!

Bold!

Just when the Lin Family swordsmen were about to make a move, the homeless man spoke up and said, "I'll take you to find him."

Immediately their words of insults were lodged in their throats.

Looking at each other, they could only follow the swordsman out of the yard. They'll just have to settle accounts with him later!

A moment later...

The swordsman came back nonchalantly.

Gone were the Lin Family clan members.

"Uncle, where did those people go?" Yue'er looked behind the swordsman, her eyes blinking curiously.

"Them? They went back. By the way, little girl, do you want to practice swordsmanship with me?" he asked, smiling cheekily.

"Cultivation? With you? Uncle, I would rather not." Yue'er hurriedly shook her head.

She wasn't stupid. Her Uncle was so miserable. He even has a wooden sword. He can't be that powerful Although she did want to cultivate, her Uncle won't be of much help. She did have her dreams though... to join the first founded sect in the northwest region... the Heavenly Sword Sect!
