Chapter 50 - Too old to my liking

An Family's group left the room and walked to their left, towards the steps that lead to the lower floors.

When they came to the stairs, another team was walking down them from the floors above.

An Bing Qing raised her sight to her right to see which team was coming down.

Her bottomless pupils contracted as she halted her steps when she saw the person at the head of that team.

It was Mo Family's eldest miss, Mo Yan Yan, who had entered her husband backyard not long before she and Wang Shu had come together.

She liked to be clad in pure white clothes like her but Mo Yan Yan's gowns always had light blue patterns embroidered on it which highlighted her inborn coldness. Her jet-black long hair was half-combed with sky blue hairpins; her dark eyes and cherry lips had no expression. She was a true icy beauty whose words could cut whenever she wanted to do so.

An Yu Yong stopped a breath after An Bing Qing halted, he turned his head around to see her and then turned it back, following her line of sight.

He hadn't paid attention to the people walking down before but now, he did it.

It was the Mo Clan.

He swept his gaze through them and he recognized almost all of the twenty white-robed young people; as An Family's next Patriarch, he had already seen some information regarding other clans but because their resources where limited, their information lacked in many ways.

At length, his eyes fell on the one leading, Mo Yan Yan.

She was a genius of the Mo Clan, she was only seventeen years old and she already was a mid-stage Mundane Core Cultivator; though she wasn't able to get the Ancient Heritage of her family as she wasn't an Alchemist, her position in her family was only second to her two little brothers. She also wasn't the strongest in that group but she still was the captain; she was the only legitimate daughter of Mo Clan's Patriarch and had been well nurtured, after all.

A pondering light went through An Yu Yong eyes as he sized her up, 'Not only Mo Clan's Patriarch but she also must have her own means to hold back her cousins who are Alchemists with part of her family's Ancient Heritage, dragging the time for her little brothers to grow'.

Feeling some gazes over her, Mo Yan Yan gave a glimpse towards them through the corner of her eyes without turning around her head before immediately retrieving her sight back; in her eyes, they weren't a strong clan so she didn't need to bother with them.

Her other clansmen had long noted An Clan's party but as their eldest young miss didn't care, they could only highlight themselves and keep walking.

An Bing Qing had a sudden influx of memories because of the split second where their eyes met, she couldn't help but remember her past encounters with Mo Yan Yan; they felt as though they happened yesterday, but a sentiment of a faraway encounter was also there, making her feelings and current mood inexplicable.

As soon as Mo Family's clansmen vanished from their sight when they walked down the steps, An Yu Yong turned his head around to look at an absent-minded An Bing Qing.

He called her a couple of times before getting a response, "Little sister, little... An Bing Qing".

"Eh! Yes", she softly replied as she slowly turned her head around.

"What is it?" he asked with inquiring eyes.

"Huh? Oh! Nothing, don't you think she is very pretty?" She almost bit her lips and she felt like killing herself but she didn't how to answer; and knowing that her eldest brother will begin to overthink, she blurted out the first thing she could come up with. However, she was able to maintain a smile without her mouth twitching.

An Yu Yong looked at her deeply, he had a feeling of being deceived but he couldn't find a fault on her expression; therefore, he answered, "Too old to my liking".

An Bing Qing widened her eyes before covering her mouth and laugh, "Pffth". Mo Yan Yan wasn't that old, just two years older than them. Moreover, they were cultivators; hence, age didn't matter much but her eldest brother statement still made her happy.

Then, they stepped on the stairs and began to walk down.

Their clansmen behind just followed them without going into deep thought. Some of them had a slight smile because of the funny conversation they had heard while the serious ones secretly shook their heads at such nonsense.

Minutes later, they reached the reception hall of the building.

As An Bing stepped down from the last step, she passed her eyes through the entire place and as she did so, she saw that not far away there was a Mo Yan Yan speaking to a handsome young man clad in white with purple patterns embroidered on it; it was Wang Shu.
